Upon looking at the circuit I noticed a small copse of palm trees. Palm trees in that environment in Finland? I find it hard to fathom. Does anyone know anything about this? I am miffed unless it just poetic license.

Race server is up. Smiley
Sorry about late setup, this held me up. Quote from championship thread. Smiley
After quite bit of hard work, I now present website showing amount of races per class for each driver and also fastest lap times in each track directly taken from server logs. Smiley Now you can follow that you won't overcome the 5 races per engine class limit.

http://gtlserver.lintu.dyndns.org/

Site is still very much of work in progress and data is updated manually from server logs after each race, but eventually practice and qualifying session times will start transfer automatically. Race logs I will transfer manually after each race. Smiley Also site will provide event log / replay downloads eventually.

Next I will bring up the race server for tomorrow. Smiley

The races from my point of view: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeEPpQ0zOo0

@Nappe1 I am really disappointed by your attitude. I had a suggestion going on during the qualifying and you didn't even bother to answer me. I really think it's not normal the qualifying session to be as long as the race but it's OK if you think this is not a problem. What bothers me is the lack of respect you are showing me. I drove in YOUR championship since the start of the last season and i don't think i deserve to be ignored like that. Now i really consider if i want to continue driving here. Thank you.

Hi,
I usually design the championships as whole and that includes qualifying lengths. I am open to suggestions but I show my respect to others in server by trying not to accumulate conversations which might turn in to long discussions with many drivers having opinions which they want to tell. Such multiline chats might disturb guys driving on the track, so I prefer if they are introduced here in forums. I very seldom reply in race server about question changing something in the middle of the event. HillClimbs being exception, if there's very few entries and as they are ran in very organized order so that I can make sure that everyone gets the change.

What comes to my championships, I have ran by myself and with quite few friends over 10 long running online championships, first one started in March 2008. From last years' racers I think Markus was the only one who participated in F1 Venue Championships in 2008. From this year, There's most likely 4 drivers that were racing in same series 2009. (Daz, Geoffers and NocAtu were there and I recall that Hristo Itchov was there too in few races, but can't be exactly sure as NogGrip is gone.) Last 4 championships I have done custom made physics almost to all cars and that takes some time. Even if I did refresh only 8 cars this year, it still took around 150 hours. The original basic car set we used last year and year before that was in works over 2 years. That's something you could call a commitment to deliver free championships for 16 years old game. Help of SpecialKS has been valuable with the results during these last 3 years and while  previous years I have made the points myself, but big thanks to Tony now doing that for me in this year.

What comes to original question about Twin race qualifying lengths, this question can be reviewed in championship thread.  As the driver counts are not in the level of non-retro simulators (16 years old simulation can called as retro, right?), I have tried to balance the qualifying so that even guys who time is very limited between the races can still join and have some sort of touch to the track. But I'll post the question to championship thread which is proper place to discuss changes that will effect in all upcoming twin races.

And yes, everyone decides themselves if they want to run in certain championships, but for me all the participants are equal and it does not make a difference if you have started running series that I have organized in 2 or 15 years ago. And that's one of the reasons why I prefer forums to discuss changes.

yours,
Lasse 'Nappe1' Kärkkäinen.
Kotka, Finland

LONG EDIT / ADDITION:
Found the F1Venue 2008 and 2009 results and most of the race reports...

Now when Markus Jung is not present, NocAtu is the oldest driver in perspective of my championships. His first entry is from F1 Venue Champ Season 2008 Spa-Francochamps GP with Alfa-Romeo GTA. Race was in 2nd of September 2008 and he placed 8th.

Markus was present first time in Barcelona GP with Lotus Cortina in 24th of April 2008. he placed 10th with DNF by running out of fuel in lap 18.

Daz joined the ranks in the beginning of season 2009 with Jaguar Mk II in Division 2. (different divisions back then... The REAL mod was the first custom physics car set used in online championships by me and Jevgen.)

Geoffers is not listed in two first seasons so I mixed him to someone else... Most likely someone who has not been seen decade or so. Sorry for that.

You know how much i respect your work on the series and i have a lot of fun racing here. I just felt ignored because i didn't saw a topic in the forum or even a post about what i feel about the length of the qualifiers. But now, after your answer, i feel a lot more informed and i can really thank you for taking the time to answer. I have no problem if the qualy stays 20 minutes in double race events if this is what the guys want. I just want my voice to be heard. Smiley So it will be interesting to see what will happen with that suggestion.

Lasse, yes, I missed the first year you and Jevgen ran the series, think the day you raced was difficult for me. But I did join in 2009, in the REAL mod Jaguar Mk2, not my wisest decision ever that one! Then the year following in the EARL mod Healey, and the Skyline, Kadett, Celica followed over the next few years, before the format changed from memory......without NG to refer to it is difficult to remember! Won a few races, but lost more than I won for sure to the likes of Cale, JohnW, Cap, Markus and a couple of guys from Hungary (Kristian and Szilard I think) amongst others. Can even remember if I ever managed a season podium to be honest, but was always a good challenge in good company Grin.

For me, Having missed the start of last season, I was looking forward to the varied nature of the championship, and the first 3 rounds are no exception. This track was good fun in both the classes, so expected a competitive evening.

Manfred was as usual very quick in race 1. I did have issues getting my best lap in quali, but a good jump off the line saw me pestering Manfred hard for the first couple of laps. I could see no brake lights for him, so after a couple of near misses there was some contact, which meant Geoffers also span immediately behind, letting the whole field through past the three of us. I waited, I made the contact so it is my responsibility, but I was seeing no brake lights on the NSU that Manfred was using and it was throwing me on these long corner entries here.

We made our way back through the field, I sneaked through at one point, and held a small advantage, but Manfred was much quicker than me so the inevitable did happen and he went through. Not getting the setup as nice on the TCR as I remember it being in the original mod by Sharpo and Pizzaman, is it much different Lasse?

Ended up third, Suti taking a good win from Manfred.

Race 2, was Suzuki time again after a decent show at Imola. Couldn't get it off the line as well as Dimitar did, and he was in front of me in the first 2 corners, but I was up the inside into the third and squeezed through. Tried very hard to get a gap immediately, thinking the slipstream may be an advantage here in the small engine cars, and despite a few errors I was able to pull away for a class win.

Grats to all participants, looked like some good racing going on.

Really like this track for the small classes.
R1: was fun although I destroyed my small chances due to my usual lousy start and two or three mistakes during the race.
R2: without a chance in my favorite car the 500 Montecarlo. Left the game after a spin right in front of the leader who wanted to lap.

Nice turnout although a lot of regulars are still missing  Huh

Cool

@Nappe: what did you/we do to correct the classes in my above result charts - I can't remember  Huh

Dimitar sorry to have asked for no chat in qualy, but I was annoyed cause when the long message popped up I went wide on a fast bend and screwed a good lap. I stress again to not chat in race too, even to say thanks while lapping someone that isn't necessary IMHO.  Maybe a light flash is enough Smiley

In all the years I've been taking part in Lasse's championships I 've always had the impression that he's very open to criticism and/or suggestions with regard to improving them. He's never ignored someone's request or has been inconsiderate in any way. People like Lasse, as well as Tony, who make time in order to organise events will always have my respect. That also includes all the people here in SROUK who provide us with a place where we can share our passion. I should not forget people like Kurt who help in any way they can, like posting the race results every time we have a race or taking part in beta testing.

I'm not trying to add fuel to the flames here, it seems as if the fire is out either way, but I believe there is no need for any heat-of-the-moment posts that might lead to misunderstandings. There haven't been any major changes to the race format ever since the championship started, so I believe it would be better if we made our suggestions before the start of a championship as it makes everything easier. No one is forced to take part and if we find ourselves unhappy with something we're always free to go. There's no need to make ourselves or others feel bad about something that is supposed to be fun.

Just my 2 cents.

As far as the race is concerned it was great fun! In race 2 I had some great fun with Suti and Salesman. I spun at some point but I think it was just my fault; to my surprise, Suti waited for me and gave me the place back even though I'm fairly certain he had nothing to do with my spin. I went on to bump him out of the track at some point, so I feel there's a need for an apology here mate.

You are totally right Fulvio. I don't know why i was unhappy as you had a point there. But now after the race i can totally understand you. I am trying to be strict on that rule and this is one of the first times i have messed up. Smiley

No problem. It was stupid move from me to try to overtake you from outside anyway. I tried to overtake nappe from outside at Imola too and it didnt work on wider circuit either. Everything happening in both races was due to pedal maintenance. I disassembled pedals and cleaned all dog hairs from mechanism and paid some attention how to tighten them. Car balance felt better instantly and I got good setups and drove my best qualys ever for both races but I forgot to practice starts. Of course I messed up both starts with gas pedal feeling very different and I was way too impatient to get back lost positions. I collided with nappe and matt aswell and I really need to calm down in future. I was faster and I could have waited a bit longer and not try to force my way through. I'm sorry guys.

Thanks for posting results. Smiley
