Welcome to round 1 of the 1st UKAC GPL67 Series

1st off we have the Sandown GP, sadly there is no version without the chicanes but other than that the track is the same.

Some important notes you'll need to bear in mind:

We will be taking a leaf out of UKGPL's book for the running of this series, so damage and points scoring are as follows:

100% damage
100% fuel use
0% Tire wear (This is actually far more accurate than the mods' built in wear rate and 'fixes' the BRM)
Drivers must complete 50% of each race to score.

With the above in mind you will want to treat the first lap or two very carefully while your tires warm up and you adapt to driving on a heavy fuel load.
The 1st lap will be moderated

As per the 1967 F1 scoring system, each driver will discard their worst 2 scores when the points are calculated at the end of the season (Done for you in LM2)

BoP will be as follows:

Lotus & Eagle = 40Kgs
Ferrari           = 30Kgs

There will be no success ballast.

Practice: 19:30 (45 mins)
Qual: 20:15 (15 mins)
Race: 20:30  (42 laps)

Track:
Sandown Raceway
https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/sandown-raceway.18702/

Cars allowed:
3l 1967 F1 from the GPL67 mod.
I've put them on dropbox for now as the original download was apparently VERY slow:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/o719sdx2kohk668/AC%20GPL67%20V2.20.rar?dl=0

You MUST follow these instructions in order to install the mod:

In this folder: Copy the lotus_49.kn5 file
    Within \cars folder, goto \ gpl67_lotus_49
    Paste lotus_49.kn5 here!

Installing the Ferrari 312 =

I'm on holiday next week so won't be running any races. I've set the server going with everyone in their selected chassis at Sandown - I'll be in a valley in Cornwall and won't have any way of re-starting it if it goes wrong, please shout at SRW or Picnic and they should be able to help you out.

If someone wants to run a fun race then you're welcome to - but I won't be able to help out Smiley

Any new members can still sign up - please refer to the announcement thread and if possible please pick one of the empty cars.
Announcement thread can be found here: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=24972.0

Hello chaps.

I'm sorry but I can't join this race cause I have a football match tomorrow and I'll be late for the start of the race. Hope to be there for the next.

Have fun

It'll be the cars they're in, combined with gearing and fuel load Maxime. The Cooper will be slower in a straight line than all bar the Brabham as the Masserati V12 it uses is actually 1950's vintage and well down on power, you also have massive frontal area which means worse aero.
But it has much nicer handling than most to compensate so as most tracks I've picked are much more traditional 60's Euro circuits I wouldn't worry too much - the Cooper was a strong contender at SRO as I remember.  Smiley
You could also try playing with tire pressures, but the speed you gain will be a tradeoff off with mid corner grip.

Just be thankful you aren't in the BRM - I'll get some film of my driving so you can guess at the mental gymnastics I'm performing just to change gear in the bugger.
Then you have the epic weight and dodgy handling on top, although in theory I shouldn't be too far off the top speeds of the fast guys as the H16 made epic power when it actually worked so I'll be curious to try a qually setup in it Grin

Hehe thank you for the details..

And wouldn't this Maserati V12 be particularly glutton too, by any chance ? Because Syd told me he was needing 55L to complete the race and here it's 75 minimum by my estimations..  Roll Eyes

Crikey even FMG is getting his excuses in early  laugh

Fuel usage for the fezza seems to be around 75L for the race so I'm putting 80 in just in case. That together with 30KG of slow me down means I'll be even slower than usual off the line so I'll probably skip quali and sneak in at the back of the grid.

92 liters for Honda, if my math is right.

And this engine sounds like a 500cc 2 stroke.  Grin

Syd is in a Brabham - by far the least powerful car, also very light.
I think I calculated 100+ litres for the beast from Bourne in comparison Cheesy

T1 0% Max´s fault concerning my spin. Tought it was you because you were the car that was inside of me there but you didn´t even bounce against me when you were hit.

Maybe not best idea to make full attack past 4 cars on T1 with 0 FPS Fabri?

Congrats to Tim and Max for podium

No problem Jukka,  it was a reasonable assumption.

I know I bounced into someone but it turns out to be Lorenzo so sorry to you, but it seems you came out of that whole mess pretty well anyway, shame you got unlucky with a backmarker in the end...

Ignoring T1, it was a pretty fun race,  though I missed T1 braking point way too many times  laugh

Sorry a lot, guys, for Turn 1. As I said I had very serious fps problems, and I just couldn't figure out where I was because everything was jerky. It was not my intention to overtake anyone there. In fact, I hardly ever tryed overtaking at the start of the races. I just didn't know where I was at that point.

I'm sorry for have do this mess.

I think I also touched a lapped guy in the middle of the race, but there I found him almost stopped at half corner. I apologize also here if I did a bad.

This terrible race, however, still held a surprise: on the last lap a lapped car crashed into the wall on the straight and I, who was behind, could not avoid it. Right suspension destroyed and I completed the lap at 10 km/h, losing a position.

Everything to forget, mistakes and a constant struggle with bad fps and high ping.
Disheartened.
