Season 38 1965F1 – Round 8 – Professionals - Enna

We return to Europe for Round 8, to Sicily in Italy to be precise. The Autodromo di Pergusa circuit encircles Pergusa Lake, the only natural lake in Sicily. The circuit is also known as Enna-Pergusa, as the lake is located near the city of Enna. During the 1960s, the track hosted various sportscar events such as the Coppa Città di Enna and later in the 1970s the Coppa Florio. It also played host to a non-championship Formula One event known as the Mediterranean Grand Prix. The Formula 1 race was held 4 times between 1962 and 1965, it was won twice by Jo Siffert and once each by Lorenzo Bandini and John Surtees.

Annoying and eventful race. I had planned to use the Brabham and all had been well in practice, but I had problems join this race... actually I got into the race fine, but it crashed many times as I tried to enter pits. When I eventually got in my steering wheel was a piece of car... Cookie you mentioned a fix for the Brabham? As such I had to take the unfamiliar BRM. Had trouble setting it up, and although it was quick enough I had nothing in first gear, so got well beaten away from the lights. Clive tuned into T3 very sharply from the outside and got punted off. I got slowed leaving the corner and more cars passed - Mike nearly caused a crash by coming over the the racing line too quickly after 3/4 passing me and I had to avoid by hitting the grass. I caught him back up and we had some fun chasing until Zagaria, where I think he maybe just tried a little too hard to stay with me and hit the steep bank on the exit. After that it was a few laps on my own until I started catching Andreas(?). Later Bastian joined us for some close racing, but tried a very late overtake on me into Zagara, even though I had the inside. That resulted in him turning in on my back wheel and spinning me into last position from 3rd and 0.5 miles behind the pack... couldn't be bothered after that, so i retired.

Joined to check my connection issues so, just grabbed my Monza se-up and did enough to stay at the back of the grid, managed to avoid several spinners as the race progressed, had a few laps with Arf, as he mentioned, then a few more with Tom, until right on cue, my screen went black as I crossed the line on lap 11, so disco'd at that point. I have reinstalled McAfee, it is recognising Igor as an excluded file now, but disabled it last night to be sure, but still got the black screen which stays for about 10 secs, before you see the car & track again. Disappointing.

I'm really sorry arf, i just lifted to let you go when our tires touched.

First corner i was also pushed into the barrier but could recover quickly.
I loaded my Hockenheim Setup and was more competitve than the previous races here.

I was really surprised when i could attack tristan, but i felt it to be too dangerous and i hoped he makes a mistake by himself,
instead i spun myself and was back in battle fulvio, andreas, tom, arf...

I had to block the inside line for 2-3 laps to get some distance again between me and the others. happy to finish.
i like highspeed circuits

Top driver tip #34.......If you have a drink alongside your computer during a race, ensure that it is not too close to the edge and that it will not be moved by your enthusiastic driving.

After the early tag with Arf, I managed a recovery that took me back past Fulvio. Mr Beattie was next, but I then had to make a desperate grab for my glass of squash a few laps later whilst tailing Mike. That sent me off the track and I was chasing Fulvio again, which appeared to be my repeating scenario for this race  Undecided......until a lack of concentration and a haybale finished my race in spectacular fashion lol.  Roll Eyes

LOL Clive, I'm still laughing thinking at your start at Aintree with Cortina GTL  Cheesy
Anyway you was patience and collaborative tiil we catched the car ahead, me too was launched in the scenario lap1 after a touch at T1 and had to restart dead last.
Nice battle with Bastian at the end, but I had a momentum at two to go and lost drag.
