Password: see above

Welcome to round 2 of the 1st UKAC GPL67 Series

Following on from the technical course at Sandown we are now off to sunny Interlagos for 18 laps of drifting mayhem!

Damage and fuel use:

100% damage
100% fuel use
0% Tire wear (This is actually far more accurate than the mods' built in wear rate and 'fixes' the BRM)
Drivers must complete 50% of each race to score.

With the above in mind you will want to treat the first lap or two very carefully while your tires warm up and you adapt to driving on a heavy fuel load.
The 1st lap will be moderated

As per the 1967 F1 scoring system, each driver will discard their worst 2 scores when the points are calculated at the end of the season (Done for you in LM2)

BoP will be as follows:

Lotus & Eagle = 40Kgs
Ferrari           = 30Kgs

There will be no success ballast.

Practice: 19:30 (45 mins)
Qual: 20:15 (15 mins)
Race: 20:30  (18 laps)

Track:
 Interlagos '75 GP
https://www.mediafire.com/file/rzf85unu4fmweq0/interlagos_1975.zip/file

Cars allowed:
3l 1967 F1 from the GPL67 mod.
I've put them on dropbox for now as the original download was apparently VERY slow:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/o719sdx2kohk668/AC%20GPL67%20V2.20.rar?dl=0

Instructions on installing the carset can be found in the 2nd post of the registration thread - here: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=24972.msg480312#msg480312
You MUST follow these instructions in order to install and use the mod

Are we really gonna do 42 laps? BRM can go 38 with tank, but maybe I can do something to save fuel a bit...

Pretty sure that's a typo. Even 22 would be too long for 50 minutes. Maybe 18 would be correct for the distance we're aiming for.

Like in previous week I won't be there for the race. Another football match this weds and this will probably become a good habit, apart for the day of the week Roll Eyes It's the only way I manage to train myself a bit after this damned shitty year.

So, I guess I will jump almost every race of the champ. I feel sorry about this, but it's the right thing to do. Hope you'll enjoy your races chaps!

See you  Wink

I thought so too, 18 is bit too short and 19 bit too long for 50 minutes if that's a target time.

Oops Embarrassed

That's a copy and paste error from the last race!

I'll fire up the gaming PC later and get the correct length. Sorry Guys

Although 44 laps would separate the men from the boys  Wink

Updated - It's 18 laps.

Looking at the times I think my BRM needs something drastic done, I'm flat out for my current fastest lap - maybe another 0.25 of a sec available in the current setup but that's it Shocked

Aahhhh I was looking forward to doing 44 laps actaully. Luvely in these cars. But now my setup might be rather rubbish with half the ammount of fuel!  Tongue

Although, there is again a chance I won't race, as we are collecting our new puppy this afternoon. He should be tired by then...

It seems I'm a rolling chicane! (again)
If I don't get lapped, I'll consider it a win... well, not a point scoring win but...

Can't wait!

You can't leave it there and not say what! Especially if you might miss the race  Tongue

SirNedrick - I think I saw you say this is your first ever online series?
If so then I think you're doing pretty well, the jump to racing real people is a pretty big one - the pace difference is very noticeable but you'll learn faster and start getting up to speed fairly fast.
I always find that once I know something is possible I can then normally find a way of doing it, unless I'm in the BRM....

How is the grip set on the server? Tonight it was at 95% for q and race, but last night it was 100%, and I was 4 seconds a lap slower. I must say I didn't enjoy racing tonight. Unlike last night I was not able to drift the car, but I was still getting my fronts to overheat. I think the cars are though enough without this low grip. And, at least for me, a lot less fun with it.

Nice to do a proper race with you guys after almost a year.
I was slow as  censored, and I still not enjoying these cars too much (I expected them to be more drifty during the braking and the entry of a corner).
But still nice to be on track.
cheers lads!

How is the grip set on the server?

From post 1:
Server track settings: (Stock FAST setting - temps are same as ever)
SESSION_START=98
RANDOMNESS=2
LAP_GAIN=0.007
SESSION_TRANSFER=80

Same as last week - that's a stock Kunos setting and what the server should have been running all week( It certainly was when I did my BRM setup work)
If it was on 100 that should just mean lots of laps had been done by people in that session to grip it up. Failing that the practice server had a brain fart or something.

100% is utterly unreal for a session start, it's been annoying me here and elsewhere for ages so for this season I've picked a setting that is actually pretty accurate.
I was tempted to modify track and air temps to suit the locations too but eventually decided against as I knew people would complain and I'd end up throwing the towel in.

Less grip is actually easier anyway as you need to do everything slower to go fast, if you're understeering then you're either coming in too hot or braking/steering too hard/fast and braking traction.

I would have enjoyed that race more but I understeered over a kurb on lap 3 and skidded off the end of the 1st hairpin. After driving around the barriers I re-entered but forgot that the barriers were kinked and hit them hard enough heavily damage my cars nose (The damage screen remained up and red for the rest of the race Sad ).
This also threw my out into the track further than intended so sorry to anyone if it inconvenienced you, I spent the rest of the race driving like mad to just about hang on behind GT's Ferrari - I could see how bad my car was because he was actually pulling away on the straights.

Oh well, better luck (I hope) next time.
See you all at Watkins  Smiley

Well, there were a whole lot more laps driven on track tonight in every session than last night. And everytime I looked it said 95. Practice, qualifying, race begining, race end. And it certainly didn't feel easier for me going 4 seconds a lap slower. I mean I understand it's the same for everyone, and most people were some way off from practice times, but this felt too much like work, not enough like fun.
