Well, that's what I was saying, after the many disconnections (for everyone apparently) just before the start, disconnected halfway through the 2nd lap ... really a circuit to be avoided ... Angry

Finally a real challenge after 2000000 races in Hockeneim Tongue I enjoied a lot this track, it's an absolutely must have, of course it's very different to make an hotlap alone than racing against others and it was a real challenge looking the car ahead, the car behind and remember the key point of track. I wasted a pole( can't  believe still now) on the first 15 miles of the course because i was so excited that i forgot where i was ( and so 3 resets Grin Grin). Tristan well done, you made a solid race and for sure you demonstreted that cold blood and  a constant pace beat pure speed on this type of track.

I get booted every time I enter on car in pit, offline it works.
Sorry for chatting while Phil was still on track on Q. Luckily starting from grid worked, thx for the hint, but I couldn't do any lap to test the car and the setup was awful. Very hard wheel and the car was snapping every turn slowing out of gas, My wrists hurt. A part hitting a couple of cars stopped sideways I took care and did all the race without reset till the very last turn where I ripped a wheel and had to reset.

Difficult, it's true, but, I think, not well designed.  Too narrow, when you are across the track, impossible to get back in the direction of travel, not to mention the walls that you touch with each tight pin

Yeah it's difficult for close racing in these cars. In Porsche/ Alfa it was less dangerous.

@ Christian
The maker Jim Pearson said he has allready made the track much wider than it is, in the presentation thread.

I had done too much laps in the afternoon and lost concentration in lap 2...

The road is very narrow but it is realistic. The real track is bumpier than the GPL version. It is very hard to overtake on a motorcycle, never mind a very wide '67 Sports car. There is only one line here. To overtake you need to move off that ideal line. Riders quite often don't crash on the corner they made a mistake on, they crash 2 or 3 corners later.

The GPL track is a masterpiece, by far the best track ever created for GPL IMO. Jim Pearson is a genius. But as in real life, the track is not best suited for head to head racing. The bikes set off in 10 second intervals, not something that is easy to emulate in GPL (but it is possible, perhaps there is scope for a Christmas break fun race ?)

On my first qually lap, I hit someone who was going the wrong way  eek. They must have crashed and got confused. Anyway that allowed my to reset and so I had enough fuel to complete 3 laps. My second qually lap was a bit better but I couldn't quite topple Giovanni from top spot (excellent driving well done). On my third lap I put in three green sectors and I was on track to get pole but qually finished just as I was exiting Governor's Bridge. No more corners to go, it was a straight dash to the line but I didn't make it  Angry.

My race was a bit of a disaster, it is very hard to follow a car here. You need to be able to look far ahead to pick the right line. Anyway after a few resets (a combination of hitting wreckage and my own stupid mistakes) I had a CTD. However it is worth pointing out that the CTD only occurred because I had crashed and left the track. I haven't had a CTD when I remained on the tarmac Smiley. Is that the same for everyone? I wouldn't want the track to be unfairly criticised.

@Cookie, It was my first race under linux ... Wink
Apart from the excessively long loading time of the track (much longer than under Win10) and disconnections, I find the image almost more beautiful than under w10 !! (despite the absence of fine adjustments as with Nvidia inspector ...!) The FFB was good (as much as my G27 allows!)

Do you know a solution to recover the shifter? because the pallets are not very natural !! (gplshift does not work nor Fairshift)
And can you tell me your settings to have the position of the pilots displayed in the middle of the screen?

Edit : @Cookie, I found it!

Yes, probably also my lack of experience with GPL !!
But the fact of not being able to start again (other than with shift R) when you find yourself crossing the track is a shame.
It is indeed a beautiful track

I have G27 and shifter on Linux. All you need is a Leo Bodnar adaptor. Costs about £20. Works a treat although reverse doesn't work.

What do you call CTD? Logout?
CTD = Crash To Desktop.  This is when GPL crashes and the user is returned to the operating system (Windows or Linux) as opposed to a "Screen Freeze" where GPL crashes but stays running in a locked state (i.e. unresponsive and the only way to stop it is to use the Windows Task Manager or reboot the machine).

We've tried to explain the differences under Trouble Shooting on the page. Without a clear description of what is happening, it is very difficult to workout what the problem is let alone a solution. So it is important to make sure we capture exactly what happened. Hence my point about my CTD only happening after I had crashed and I was off the track (in fact I was spinning in the air!)
