I was with Tiscali and had endless amount of problems with high pings and the ISP dropping out. I even tried to upgrade to 8 meg with Tiscali, to which they told me my line couldn't take it  (some call centre in India)  

I made 1 call to Sky Broadband, a netgear router turned up in a few days and few days after that I was back up and running with a 8 meg connection and I have to say I have had no problems what so ever since   and their call centre is in GB

Hehe, nice one! A friend lived over the road from a computer spares place and had free wireless 10Mb broadband for years! I've a couple of wireless networks myself to use if mine goes down in the house, although it's puzzling as I'm surrounded by old ladies for neighbours

Sorry to keep bumping this old topic

But I sort-of fixed my broadband problem, or at the very least it's being sorted. Apparently Tiscali have 'fessed up to a problem with some of their IPStream connections being lousy with games. They're allowing some folk a free migration to Datastream, which apparently fixes it. So, I have asked for that myself.

However, in the meantime, I've discovered that if I sit in the upstairs room, and dangle a USB wireless access point out of the Velux window, I can get a connection to the pub next door's wireless network Managed to get online on Wednesday night without too much trouble, apart from having to move everything up to the loft room and sitting at an awkwardly shaped desk

omg lol!

Why not just nmove into the pub !
