Welcome to round 4 of the 1st UKAC GPL67 Series

Pinewood is a Fantasy circuit set deep in the Forests of North America, it's also a fast and mildly technical course that is perfect for the GPL cars.
The biggest point to be aware of here is the Chicane approximately half way around the lap - it has monster kerbs which could end your race early if hit hard enough so please treat them with respect.

Damage and fuel use:

100% damage
100% fuel use
0% Tire wear (This is actually far more accurate than the mods' built in wear rate and 'fixes' the BRM)
Drivers must complete 50% of each race to score.

With the above in mind you will want to treat the first lap or two very carefully while your tires warm up and you adapt to driving on a heavy fuel load.
The 1st lap will be moderated

As per the 1967 F1 scoring system, each driver will discard their worst 2 scores when the points are calculated at the end of the season (Done for you in LM2)

BoP will be as follows:

Lotus & Eagle = 40Kgs
Ferrari           = 30Kgs

There will be no success ballast.

Practice: 19:30 (45 mins)
Qual: 20:15 (15 mins)
Race: 20:30  (23 laps)

Track:
 Pinewood
https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/pinewood.29825/

Cars allowed:
3l 1967 F1 from the GPL67 mod.
I've put them on dropbox for now as the original download was apparently VERY slow:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/o719sdx2kohk668/AC%20GPL67%20V2.20.rar?dl=0

Instructions on installing the carset can be found in the 2nd post of the registration thread - here: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=24972.msg480312#msg480312

Wasn't looking forward to this one but ended up having a nice race with Jari.

Don't enjoy these rollercoaster tracks and found this one especially difficult. Despite a couple of dozen practise laps and 23 race laps I was still struggling to remember my way around. Fonteny looks like being a similar story but at least it seems to have a few more reference points to help.....we'll see.

I'll be including a video in the Fonteny thread when it goes up in a day or 2 - It'll be from the perspective of my BRM to save anyone getting an unfair hint (I'm into the 8:40's with a bad Lotus setup now so that's my target Grin )

Loved the race, If I hadn't missed a gear in the very fast downhill section near the start at around the halfway point I *might* have even held Lorenzo off long enough to take the win....

It was interesting to note that on corners where I could drift the BRM it could hold it's own or even pull away from Lorenzo sometimes.
On that big banked hairpin however I was a sitting duck as drifting just didn't work there, any gain I could make Lorenzo would more than equal there due to Lotus cheating and making their cars actually corner.
Grumble grumble.. Wink

I can consider the last one the toughest race of the year, track was completely new to me, so probably that wasn't the best i could get from my Loty, anyway the fight with Tim was so intense.
Start was really bad, since i lost 3 positions with Tim pulling away, in a couple of laps i overtook Jukka and Fabrizio at the chicane. Then i get closer to Tim, my plan was to pass him at first corner, but i knew it wouldn't be easy at all. Luckily he made a mistake and i got the 1 position to the end, even with a bit of risk since i made a mistake in the same place that allowed him to close the small gap.

See you in Salzburg!

That was great racing ! Tough but great.

I keep fu**ing up all my starts, no exception this time.

In lap 1 I gave up on the roller-coaster esses just after T1 to the benefit of Matteo as he was better placed and we wouldn't want to enter those side by side. I was lucky as I saw him getting stuck against his front car which was avoiding contact with car ahead which was avoiding contact with car ahead.. Unfortunately he was off with a quite big crash into the wall. Would have been me if he hadn't been to take the position. That was a classic hold-up train.
Got Syd after a mistake from him in the long left curve.
Then I got a nice fight with Fabrizio, swapping places twice after a mistake of each one, in the long left curve exit for him and in the big braking before the perpandicular left for me, then the fight was sometimes close, sometimes a bit distant. But he eventually created the gap.

After that It was another big fight with Syd, I think we swapped places again, and he kept more or less pressure on me until the chequerred flag.

This is a very nice track to me.
Congrats on you pody guys, well done finishers, and thanks all for racing.  Smiley
