Moderator's Report

Locutos was in clear violation of the "Use Of Track Surface" rules by having all four wheels on the grass repeatedly (for example, at replay times 409, 496, 583, 742, 758, 934).

Whilst some of these cuts, especially at the Old Hairpin and McLeans are clearly accidently, the cutting of the second part of the Foggy Esses is repeated, and frequently blatant. It is most regrettable that this cutting, which was unreported and only noticed whilst reviewing other incidents, should involve one of the moderating team.

Server replay time: 477s

Dave Gymer is a little slow in Redgate as he has Chunky ahead of him. Reign Man is looking for a good exit to capitalise but gets on the power a little too early and fails to back out before running into the back of Dave and spinning him out.

  • Reign Manpenalty — contact with Dave Gymer — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 984s

Mojo is just ahead of Locutos, who is in turn being followed fairly closely by FreQ; as the group of GTs are approaching the Old Hairpin, Mojo catches Reign Man to lap his NGT car.

Mojo has to brake earlier and harder than usual to avoid running into the TVR; Locutos fails to anticipate this and runs into the back of him, spinning Mojo out.

Server replay time: 1000s

Mojo has gone off just after the old Hairpin and rejoins as Kerr and EdamSpeed are coming through. Kerr almost avoids him but there is a little overlap and with Kerr at full tilt the result is a major smash. Edam somehow drivers under Mojo's airborn car!

Mojo had a good view of the approaching cars but still drove onto the circuit, and in his haste put his car sideways across the racing line just as Brian arrived.

Kerr did have a view of the dust cloud kicked up by Mojo's car and could and should have slowed his pace a fraction in caution, and as a result I am reducing the normal 3 place penalty to 2 (though the incdent ended Mojo's race in any case).

  • Kerr (Brian Kerr)advice — Slow down when approaching the scene of an accident
  • Mojopenalty — Bad rejoin — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 2151s

Dave Gymer is a second or so back from Beholder as they reach the Foggy Esses. Beholder broke relatively early but Dave broke far too late and despite trying to avoid the Porsche by ducking right at the last moment, he clips the back of Beholder's car, spinning him round.

Dave took a drive through two laps later (one lap after his scheduled pit stop was completed), so the penalty is reduced to 0 places.

Server replay time: 2708s

Locutos is unlapped by Nug into Coppice. He is looking to get back past into the Fogarty Esses but mistimes his braking horribly and runs into the back of Darren.

Server replay time: 2970s

Luke Mustoo is lapping Gerald between the Melbourne Loop and Goddards; Gerald lets him past but then misses his braking point and flies off the road. Fortunately Luke sees him and avoids turning across him.

Server replay time: 3316s

Brian Kerr is coming up to lap Munkez as he arrives at Goddards. Brian tries to dive up the inside rather than wait until the start/finish straight but hasn't quite got any overlap when Munkez turns in and locks a wheel under braking, carrying him into the side of the Ferrari.

Luckily no real damage was done but this is exactly the kind of impatient action between cars which aren't racing for position that can so easily end somebody's race prematurely.

Server replay time: 3780s

Edam tries to lap Don by squeezing past under braking at the Old Hairpin but the attempt is rather half-baked and he ends up tapping Don's right rear corner and causing him to slide wide whilst correcting.

This is the sort of incident which is inevitable at a twisty track like Donington but Edam should either have been a bit more patient, or a bit more decisive. However it does, as they say, take two to tango, and Don could have removed the danger by simply braking 30m earlier than usual and letting Edam past whilst losing very little time.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 3800s

Picnic came in for his pit stop near the end of the race, but unfortunately the AI driver took over his car during the stop and he was unable to get it back. This is treated as a disco or mechanical failure; therefore, the results have been amended to remove the last 12 laps of his race.

In future we recommend retiring if this happens rather than risk the AI driver being involved in an incident with another car.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 4176s

At this point, Picnic's car is under AI control. It collides with Edam at Coppice, putting him onto the grass.

This is an unprecedented situation in SRou; Edam has requested no penalty be issued, so I'm not going to try and figure out whether this is a simple 2 place penalty or "something else". However, as a matter of policy, in future a driver whose car is under AI control may be held responsible for any incident it causes.

  • picnic (Picnic)penalty — AI contact with EdamSpeed
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Didn't help that i was used as a brake at the chicane.

Sorry - totally my fault. Was lining you up and thinking about getting a decent exit and just broke too late. Embarrassed Tried to wait for you to rejoin ahead but cars were flying by so went round, did me stop, then came back in for a drive through in pennance.

I shouldn't have been so far down but I got knocked off myself at Redgate which set me up for a nightmare race. Munkez was far too kind letting me by (not that I'm complaining!) and then I had a few laps of elbows out stuff with Chunky on tyres which I'd shredded trying to work my way back up the field.

Second half wasn't much better as I ran off at Coppice and lost a bucketload of time rejoining from the kitty litter. After that I drove a lot better but it was too little too late, I could see a podium place just a few seconds ahead but just couldn't go any quicker on tyres which I'd burned up trying to make up time (in fact the crew called me in for worn tyres just before I crossed the line).

Not sure what to do about Picnic's bizzarre AI driver problem. This happened to me once before but I don't think it's ever happened in a championship race and I'm not sure what to do about it!

Had a terrible race, and I didn't exactly do Dave's race any favors either. Sorry Dave I cant apologise enough!

I had a decent pace, I just couldn't keep it on the road, going off every 4 laps or so, span on the last lap also letting Gerald take me.  Undecided

Sorry if I got in folks way

Ah, wondered what was going on. Pity, you seemed to be doing okay in the TVR. Sad Don't think I saw you off the track once. Cheesy

I was chasing down 3rd position and then with only a couple of laps to go and an NGT (won't mention any names) decided to smash into my rear knocking me deep into the sand. I was backing up to avoid hitting Adam Parle, apparently the driver behind didn't see Adam going onto the grass and coming back in..

I realise I may have slowed things down, but I was a fair distance ahead - not a bad rejoin, just one of those things I think.

Oh, and apologies to Dave, Beholder, and anyone else I flew past at the chicane, outbraking everything and everyone, myslef included.  Really glad not to have  contacted anyone, and I'm feeling suitably embarassed with those rookie errors.....

Not a problem Dave.
Just a shock at the time.

It was the GT car that rammed me off that done my head in.
You must of seen it,You were right behind me.

It was the fact that i was entering a turn that you cant really go wide at or your off.
And he came straight up the inside of me and shoved me in the wall.
Even though the following straight was the one going down to the chicane.

Came around craner curve(I'm sure right bend) on lap 10-11, and could see a car off the track and assumed he could see us. He just drove straight into the middle of the track car and i could not go anywhere. Major damage which lead to a long pit stop and also forced me to make another pit stop to make the distance.

Yes, that was odd! I was behind you at the time (after I'd let you through, as I realised you were a lap down, and were miles quicker than me), and when you hit the spinning car, you both went up in the air, and I just about squeezed under the flying cars! Felt a bump as I went through, but no repairs needed at next stop - Weird!  Shocked

My first stint was good - got into 3rd place, from a lowly 8th, mostly due to spinners/accidents of others. However, it all went to pot after the stop.. My temporary desk in the attic space (not the pub!) is a bit wobbly, which puts me off a little, but then the wheel started to come off the table too! Nightmare to control it after that, as I was half driving, and half trying to keep the desk together.

So big apologies to all the NGT drivers that I came across in the latter stages of the race. I think Luke, picnic, Martin, and a few others all had to pass and re-pass me, after a series of sily excursions Sad Really sorry for that, and hope I didn't get in the way too much. Guess I was having trouble fighting my own table for control!  Cheesy

No apologies needed mate.
Every time i felt like nodding off, i'd look behind me and there you were.
Woke me up on a few occassions.

Sure it wasn't me swearing loudly, with 4 locked wheels sliding past that woke you up?!?!?! Grin

Had some silly offs, the best one being at the Craner Curves, took my eye off the road to see what laptime I'd just put in (on GTR2 PD on my laptop) - completely lost it, and had one big grassy detour to the old hairpin .....

That was really tuff, the race seemed to go on forever. Had 2 great battles with Adam and Dave which kept my concentration.
There was some good racing but I agree with Don, I filled up the to the brim and put on hard tires at the start and was holding my own. (I think)Then a passing GT just went into my rear, on a straight as well, my handling was shot after that.

Looking forward to next one and hopefully some more close racing.
Congrats to the winner(GT) and Luke

At lap 10-11 i was on the same lap and overtook you for position. It was after the pit stop for damages that I caught and you let me past. Thanks for your help.

I've no idea what the guy( i will not metion his name) was playing at that took me out. He must have seen us and thought about how he was going to pull back on circuit. His car was at 90 degrees almost right across track and there was nowhere to go

Wasnt a bad race for me....first lap I was too anxious to overtake and tapped Don(sorry m8)but let him past me again.
After that it was time to chase down Darren, but as he spun early on I was able to get past him. With about 6-7 minutes left I was 2nd behind Picnic and he entered pits and came out the pits right in front of me but with cold brakes and cold tyres he couldnt do much and after tapping him under braking(sorry..) half a lap later I was able to get past.
Last few races of the season are going  to be quite interesting....

You're quite right, you did overtake me twice, now that I think about it. However, the fact that you were 2 seconds quicker than me in quali was well noted by me, and I remember thinking I'd better let you past, as it would be unfair to hold you up at that stage, and I had no real hope of defending the position for another 25 or so laps!
