Moderator's Report

Locutos was in clear violation of the "Use Of Track Surface" rules by having all four wheels on the grass repeatedly (for example, at replay times 409, 496, 583, 742, 758, 934).

Whilst some of these cuts, especially at the Old Hairpin and McLeans are clearly accidently, the cutting of the second part of the Foggy Esses is repeated, and frequently blatant. It is most regrettable that this cutting, which was unreported and only noticed whilst reviewing other incidents, should involve one of the moderating team.

Server replay time: 477s

Dave Gymer is a little slow in Redgate as he has Chunky ahead of him. Reign Man is looking for a good exit to capitalise but gets on the power a little too early and fails to back out before running into the back of Dave and spinning him out.

  • Reign Manpenalty — contact with Dave Gymer — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 984s

Mojo is just ahead of Locutos, who is in turn being followed fairly closely by FreQ; as the group of GTs are approaching the Old Hairpin, Mojo catches Reign Man to lap his NGT car.

Mojo has to brake earlier and harder than usual to avoid running into the TVR; Locutos fails to anticipate this and runs into the back of him, spinning Mojo out.

Server replay time: 1000s

Mojo has gone off just after the old Hairpin and rejoins as Kerr and EdamSpeed are coming through. Kerr almost avoids him but there is a little overlap and with Kerr at full tilt the result is a major smash. Edam somehow drivers under Mojo's airborn car!

Mojo had a good view of the approaching cars but still drove onto the circuit, and in his haste put his car sideways across the racing line just as Brian arrived.

Kerr did have a view of the dust cloud kicked up by Mojo's car and could and should have slowed his pace a fraction in caution, and as a result I am reducing the normal 3 place penalty to 2 (though the incdent ended Mojo's race in any case).

  • Kerr (Brian Kerr)advice — Slow down when approaching the scene of an accident
  • Mojopenalty — Bad rejoin — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 2151s

Dave Gymer is a second or so back from Beholder as they reach the Foggy Esses. Beholder broke relatively early but Dave broke far too late and despite trying to avoid the Porsche by ducking right at the last moment, he clips the back of Beholder's car, spinning him round.

Dave took a drive through two laps later (one lap after his scheduled pit stop was completed), so the penalty is reduced to 0 places.

Server replay time: 2708s

Locutos is unlapped by Nug into Coppice. He is looking to get back past into the Fogarty Esses but mistimes his braking horribly and runs into the back of Darren.

Server replay time: 2970s

Luke Mustoo is lapping Gerald between the Melbourne Loop and Goddards; Gerald lets him past but then misses his braking point and flies off the road. Fortunately Luke sees him and avoids turning across him.

Server replay time: 3316s

Brian Kerr is coming up to lap Munkez as he arrives at Goddards. Brian tries to dive up the inside rather than wait until the start/finish straight but hasn't quite got any overlap when Munkez turns in and locks a wheel under braking, carrying him into the side of the Ferrari.

Luckily no real damage was done but this is exactly the kind of impatient action between cars which aren't racing for position that can so easily end somebody's race prematurely.

Server replay time: 3780s

Edam tries to lap Don by squeezing past under braking at the Old Hairpin but the attempt is rather half-baked and he ends up tapping Don's right rear corner and causing him to slide wide whilst correcting.

This is the sort of incident which is inevitable at a twisty track like Donington but Edam should either have been a bit more patient, or a bit more decisive. However it does, as they say, take two to tango, and Don could have removed the danger by simply braking 30m earlier than usual and letting Edam past whilst losing very little time.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 3800s

Picnic came in for his pit stop near the end of the race, but unfortunately the AI driver took over his car during the stop and he was unable to get it back. This is treated as a disco or mechanical failure; therefore, the results have been amended to remove the last 12 laps of his race.

In future we recommend retiring if this happens rather than risk the AI driver being involved in an incident with another car.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 4176s

At this point, Picnic's car is under AI control. It collides with Edam at Coppice, putting him onto the grass.

This is an unprecedented situation in SRou; Edam has requested no penalty be issued, so I'm not going to try and figure out whether this is a simple 2 place penalty or "something else". However, as a matter of policy, in future a driver whose car is under AI control may be held responsible for any incident it causes.

  • picnic (Picnic)penalty — AI contact with EdamSpeed
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Good race all, thanks to all NGT drivers who drove really well and made it easy to pass on a track that can be very narrow at times!

My race was going well in second place behind the very quick lambo of Kerr, then he stopped dead out of nowhere (I knew he must have had some technical difficulties) and I went infront. Built up a nice lead of around 10 seconds then lost it all in a trip to the gravel. With FreQ very very close behind the ride was uncomfortable to say the least!

Just after the half way point I span on the very last corner so I decided that this would be a good time to pit. After pitting I noticed that I didnt have enough fuel to finish the race with (due to my own inexperience), and FreQ was 10 seconds infront, I decided that I wouldn't be able to catch him and had to start short shifting to save fuel. Had a couple of spin-offs after that (not concentrating enough) but I had a big lead over third place so there wasnt any real pressure.

Overall happy with the result, but a bit disappointed not to have put up more of a fight for first.

Looking forward to Monza!

Ok so that was my first EVER GTR2 race, yep that's correct I have never even done an off-line race.

So not much practice as it was quite a late decision to run and I was just using a STD set-up with the power side diff reduced by 10.

I was quite surprised by my qualify pace and although not a PB it was quite respectable.

I was really nervous about the start procedure but that seemed to go without a hitch. Then on lap 1 on the run up the hill from the old hairpin the two cars in front off me obviously got together and merged into one. I was so suprised(Been spoiled by Rfactors net code) I missed the down shift and promptly spun. Not a great start to my first race.

Got going again and after Dave spun and got back past me I found some speed and managed to stay with him for a bit. That dragged me back up to the pack and we had some intense racing for the next 20 minutes or so with people spinning and barging past each other.

Anyway I pitted with about 38 minutes to go running 12th and having not seen the GTR2 pit menu before I just hit enter. This cost me some time as they repaired damage and added fuel neither of which I needed. Cam back out behind Dave again(Who I had got past after another incident). I could keep pace with him but not close until he ran off again. Just tried to keep an even pace then and nurse the car home. Managed to pick up a place or two with people going off and crossed the line third with Dave just a couple of seconds behind.

I have to say the live track impressed me and the brake fade I was getting at the end.

As this was my first multi class race I hope I stayed out of the GT cars way and except for getting squeezed once they were all well behaved around me

Good racing with you guys i am sure I will be back

I've no idea what the guy( i will not metion his name) was playing at that took me out. He must have seen us and thought about how he was going to pull back on circuit. His car was at 90 degrees almost right across track and there was nowhere to go
I'm sorry, that was all my fault. I saw you guys approaching and thought I'd make it in time, but got it all wrong  :'(

Hi all,

Another race I have missed. Still can't re-register with Orange. Thye have messed even more and BT have still to clear my line. Shame as I really wanted to race with my new wheel set-up.

Though to be fair with nearly 100 laps at Donington with the wheel, I still can't beat a 1.37 lap. Craner curves are a nightmare, can't feel whats going on with the steering and making the left right transistion is proving extremely frustrating....

How you guys manage 1.33/34's race laps is quite something

Regards

Looking back at replay I'm glad after my anti virus automatically updated and minimised my game that at least my steering still worked. I did manage to pull off track and out the way.

I forgot that when you switch off the anti virus it still searches for automatic updates. I will not do that again.

Thank's for the apology Mojo but I must say it does not look any better in replay. These things happen and no doubt it will happen again to someone else.

The time I lost after crash and then limping back to pit then over 2mins in pit making stop for repairs would have left me very near and if not at the front. Would have been good to have a blast with Freq.

Never mind on to the next race but don't think the lambo will be up to speed on the long straights

I had just 5 or 6 on the wing. Had to do something to try and hang with the Porsches on the straights! Grin

That was an eventful race to say the least!
Was pleased just to be in the top 6 after a CTD in Qualy whilst in 2nd or 3rd...rejoined with 10 mins left and managed to grab 3rd back on my 4th lap.
It was probably more hectic than it needed to be at the start and I think the red mist came down a little bit early on. I had a bad start to the race after dropping behind Mojo and Locotus; after their collision I spent what seemed liked half the race stuck behind the 550. I could carry more corner speed and exit faster, but Locotus was a demon on the brakes and a rocket on the straight. We had a great fight early on, and a couple of times I passed, only for him to instantly re-pass. Cracking stuff.
I couldn't get past in the normal places (Foggy esses, Melbourne Loop, Goddards, Redgate) due to his awesome braking and great speed on straights, so had to look at more difficult places, and managed to squeeze past into McLeans. Nug then made a mistake into the Old Hairpin and we had a little scrap until he made a second mistake out of Goddards and promptly pitted! Quick thinking! Wink

Fairly smooth after that, overfuelled a bit at the stop and just brought it home for my first win!   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Once again the NGT's were very gentlemanly, and once again I saw one or two driving off the track to avoid us....I've said before that that's not necessary, but after Mojo and Loco's shunt involving an ngt, I can see why you guys get nervous  Undecided This is one of the toughest places for an enduro and I think we got through without any major problems caused by driving, more just problems due to the track being one long corner and very narrow.

Nug and Kerr are very impressive for such new drivers; Nug also seems annoyingly nice, one of those people difficult to dislike even after an incident.  Grin
I can see why Kerr was put in the Masters to start with. I watched some of that race and you were doing very well up until the pit problem, mid-pack GT was it? Pole by 0.5s and building a lead early on is no fluke and I'm sure that without your problem you would have had this. What's your plan for the future? Dominating Academy or mid-pack challenger in Masters?  Grin You're registered for both right?

Looking forward to Tuesday,
Quote

And this is only too true... Sad
However, only CHEATERS swap cars for one event! I'll be in lambo#36 as per usual - maybe I'll battle with the NGT's or something  Wink

Edit: I've just realised - Nug and Kerr sound like caveman names. Are you guys racing us across time and space?  Shocked

I will hopefully take part in both when I can. I wanted the chance to get some races under my belt to learn. Last week I think I was 5th before the pit stop problems.

During the week realised my idea of a set up was a bit wrong after a bit of reading. Messed around a little and was quicker in the academy race by 0.6 in qualifying and 0.9sec(fastest laps) in the race. Car felt so much better and easier to drive. Hopefully a few of the really fast guys can lend some tips, but got another document to read too. Find most of the online set ups useless and think half the time people only upload them to misguide people.

Not confident about Monza. Had a quick drive tonight and lambo is about 2 sec per lap down on my Ferrari 550 set up.

Hi Kerr,

As I am pretty new to GTR2 I dont really know much about car setups. If you could point me in the direction of those documents your reading, I would appreciate it Wink I would especially like a few tips for Monza (in Lambo) as this seems like one of the tracks that requires a very bespoke setup!

Cheers,

Nug.

Not trying to be an *ss or anything here, but I honestly think you should reconsider what league to join.

As it is now,it's kinda useless to have master and academy when we have drivers with masters potential in the academy league.  Undecided

The reason *I* joined the academy is because I am new to GTR2 and I have very little experience of online racing (I still cannot get the pitstop bit right). I also find the races in academy challenging and fun! Maybe I will go for the Masters next season, but I would like to get some races under my belt first.

The key word is "potential". I specifically put some people in the Academy because they were unknown quantities, new to us specifically and league racing in general. The Academy will by definition have a wider spread of abilities and experiences than the Masters.

Anyway, as was demonstrated by the Donington race, both Nug and Kerr are bloody fast, but the consistency might not be there yet. Hence it's fine for them to be in Academy.
