Moderator's Report

Locutos was in clear violation of the "Use Of Track Surface" rules by having all four wheels on the grass repeatedly (for example, at replay times 409, 496, 583, 742, 758, 934).

Whilst some of these cuts, especially at the Old Hairpin and McLeans are clearly accidently, the cutting of the second part of the Foggy Esses is repeated, and frequently blatant. It is most regrettable that this cutting, which was unreported and only noticed whilst reviewing other incidents, should involve one of the moderating team.

Server replay time: 477s

Dave Gymer is a little slow in Redgate as he has Chunky ahead of him. Reign Man is looking for a good exit to capitalise but gets on the power a little too early and fails to back out before running into the back of Dave and spinning him out.

  • Reign Manpenalty — contact with Dave Gymer — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 984s

Mojo is just ahead of Locutos, who is in turn being followed fairly closely by FreQ; as the group of GTs are approaching the Old Hairpin, Mojo catches Reign Man to lap his NGT car.

Mojo has to brake earlier and harder than usual to avoid running into the TVR; Locutos fails to anticipate this and runs into the back of him, spinning Mojo out.

Server replay time: 1000s

Mojo has gone off just after the old Hairpin and rejoins as Kerr and EdamSpeed are coming through. Kerr almost avoids him but there is a little overlap and with Kerr at full tilt the result is a major smash. Edam somehow drivers under Mojo's airborn car!

Mojo had a good view of the approaching cars but still drove onto the circuit, and in his haste put his car sideways across the racing line just as Brian arrived.

Kerr did have a view of the dust cloud kicked up by Mojo's car and could and should have slowed his pace a fraction in caution, and as a result I am reducing the normal 3 place penalty to 2 (though the incdent ended Mojo's race in any case).

  • Kerr (Brian Kerr)advice — Slow down when approaching the scene of an accident
  • Mojopenalty — Bad rejoin — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 2151s

Dave Gymer is a second or so back from Beholder as they reach the Foggy Esses. Beholder broke relatively early but Dave broke far too late and despite trying to avoid the Porsche by ducking right at the last moment, he clips the back of Beholder's car, spinning him round.

Dave took a drive through two laps later (one lap after his scheduled pit stop was completed), so the penalty is reduced to 0 places.

Server replay time: 2708s

Locutos is unlapped by Nug into Coppice. He is looking to get back past into the Fogarty Esses but mistimes his braking horribly and runs into the back of Darren.

Server replay time: 2970s

Luke Mustoo is lapping Gerald between the Melbourne Loop and Goddards; Gerald lets him past but then misses his braking point and flies off the road. Fortunately Luke sees him and avoids turning across him.

Server replay time: 3316s

Brian Kerr is coming up to lap Munkez as he arrives at Goddards. Brian tries to dive up the inside rather than wait until the start/finish straight but hasn't quite got any overlap when Munkez turns in and locks a wheel under braking, carrying him into the side of the Ferrari.

Luckily no real damage was done but this is exactly the kind of impatient action between cars which aren't racing for position that can so easily end somebody's race prematurely.

Server replay time: 3780s

Edam tries to lap Don by squeezing past under braking at the Old Hairpin but the attempt is rather half-baked and he ends up tapping Don's right rear corner and causing him to slide wide whilst correcting.

This is the sort of incident which is inevitable at a twisty track like Donington but Edam should either have been a bit more patient, or a bit more decisive. However it does, as they say, take two to tango, and Don could have removed the danger by simply braking 30m earlier than usual and letting Edam past whilst losing very little time.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 3800s

Picnic came in for his pit stop near the end of the race, but unfortunately the AI driver took over his car during the stop and he was unable to get it back. This is treated as a disco or mechanical failure; therefore, the results have been amended to remove the last 12 laps of his race.

In future we recommend retiring if this happens rather than risk the AI driver being involved in an incident with another car.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 4176s

At this point, Picnic's car is under AI control. It collides with Edam at Coppice, putting him onto the grass.

This is an unprecedented situation in SRou; Edam has requested no penalty be issued, so I'm not going to try and figure out whether this is a simple 2 place penalty or "something else". However, as a matter of policy, in future a driver whose car is under AI control may be held responsible for any incident it causes.

  • picnic (Picnic)penalty — AI contact with EdamSpeed
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

As I am pretty new to GTR2 I dont really know much about car setups. If you could point me in the direction of those documents your reading, I would appreciate it Wink

Cheers,

Nug.

I wouldn't mind some "documents" either. My setup ability is woeful and I only adjust tyre pressures and wing...the thing's almost standard  Undecided
Luckily I've done about a million public races on Monza (they were ALWAYS running it in GTR1), so hope I won't embarrass myself there.

So after the pitstop it was the AI driving?!?!?

I had a similar issue a week ago during a GTL league race after lap 7 of a twenty lap race music started to play AI took control, came up with race finished and the old "you must do better next time" message  :'(

ODD!

It happened to me once before in the Season 1/2 Race of Champions. It's particularly odd because the server is set not to allow AI drivers! Roll Eyes It's a huge shame because Picnic was on for his best finish of the season, and although it helps me a little in the drivers championship it hurts us a lot in the teams battle. Sad

There'll be a proper explanation in the rulings when they're published.

Sunday a guy from Simracing.nl had the same problem. After the stop, the AI took over and there was nothing he could do.

James had that once as well, its totally ridiculous! Maybe some ppl have by "mistake" selected the AI driver from the pit board, you know the top most option..i almost did that once in a hurry.

Also in Options -> Advanced menu...theres an option for "starting driver" and "2nd driver control"..maybe set 2nd driver to "player" instead of AI. Maybe its just an option for the 24hr events but ive never personally had the AI take control.

Just done an exhaustive set of tests and changing that option does the trick. Stupidly, and I don't see how this isn't a bug (and must've been carried over from GTR1), even if you disable autopilot on the dedicated server, if "Second driver control" is set to "AI" you can still select the AI driver on the pit board during a stop and have him or her drive for you. If you set it to "Player", then the pit board selection makes no difference and you drive all the time.

If you are unlucky enough to find the AI in control, just request a pit stop. The AI driver will come in and you can choose yourself on the pit board and regain control.

Didn't help that i was used as a brake at the chicane.
Or be knocked off by a lapping GT car that couldn't wait till we were out of the turn and on a 1/4 mile long straight.
Don't they realise that were all racing for position or what.

Yeah had the same happen to me at Goddard's before the start/finish straight.... kept going though to finish 5th i think in class!! well chuffed Grin
Did make the one mistake taking in a trip to the sand trap at Old Hairpin.... might of cost me a podium Embarrassed

I now realise that comment was referred to me Munkez. I do apologise to you for the nudge as was my fault. I was trying hard to drive quick and thought I had the speed and it looked as if you moved wide for me. I called it wrong.

I do feel "used you as a brake" is exaggerated though. I witnessed the beholder incident and he got shunted off the track, but I merely nudged you and you lost barely a second with no damage to either car and still made the corner with ground to spare.

It was a minimal accident but I do apologise as I should have backed off and waited. Sorry.

Nice one, off to edit that now.

I tried that but it didn't work. Could that be because I have it mapped to a button on the wheel?

Interstingly too, I couldn't deselect to fix the aero damage which was what I was trying to do in the pits when it all went Pete Tong. Tonight I could, I wonder if that was because I'd already accidently changed the driver  Undecided
