FUN RACE

Practice: 20:00 (30 mins)
Qual: 20:30 (15 mins)
Race: 20:45 (15 +20 mins)

Cars allowed: SILHOUETTES

Circuit: Zolder
Time of Day Setting: 13:00
Weather: Dry

Start: Rolling
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit-stops: none required

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the relevant Track Packs for this series
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.
(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

That was fun  Smiley

@Toni - nice pass into the second chicane last lap race 1, but shame you then lost the back end for a moment coming out of the hairpin..

Congrats to the winners.

Yeh, a couple of fun races, could have done with a few more participants though, but I guess it is now finally summer & people are doing other things. I will probably be missing a few Sunday events in the coming weeks myself.

Anyway, Silhouettes are always good fun & easy to drive, not such a fan of Zolder though, 3 too many chicanes!!! Roll Eyes Good battle with Toni & Frex in race 1 but made too many mistakes in race 2 & finished miles behind. Congrats to Toni on race 2 win.  clap clap

Really fun races on one of my favourite circuits. Race 1 was spent fighting Frex until the last lap, when I risked it and put to TC 5, got past somehow then lost the rear in the hairpin. Race 2 I went off-roading early on and was struggling to catch Frex and Stephen, until they made some mistakes and handed me the lead. Then it was mostly just lapping alone as everyone seemed to having issues behind me.

Forgot to mention before. Why did we not use the RRE rolling start procedure, we wasted over 2 mins racing time doing the rolling start lap. It worked fine in the P2s the other week I thought.

In the absence of any adverse comments I assumed that this race would use the RRE rolling start procedure! Cheesy  I floored the accelerator as I crossed the line but found cars weaving in front of me so I dumped my car into the kitty litter to avoid hitting anyone!  Shocked

I was also confused because it said rolling start but we started off standing. Can we just do the in-game rolling starts from now on? There's no need for the pace lap any more.

I trialled it in the P2 race as people were curious as to how it worked

i think the original reason we did manual rolling starts was to enable single file rolling starts to reduce the chance of pile ups at the first corner (i stand to be corrected on this as it has been in use long before i started racing at SROU!)

I am not fussed what start method we use. If the general concensus is to use the ingame rolling start i will go with this method.

Exactly that but then GTR/GTR2 didn't support a built in rolling start so we did manual ones. Now we have them in game we might as well use them unless they are broken.
