Championship Standings

Example Setups:

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another
non pack track occasionally)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

Is it just my bad driving or are the Audi and Nissan a lot faster than the Mustang? Plus the Audi seems far easier to drive than the other two thanks to the 4WD. Is it possible to have some mild BoP to prevent this from descending into another Audi Cup?

When I raced the weekly enduro featuring these cars I tried both the Nissan & the Mustang & the Nissan was a couple of seconds quicker around Watkins Glen GP. I didn't try the Audi as I had driven it before & not got on too well with it. In the race nearly all the front of the field were in Nissans, one Audi was up there too. The Nissan is the fastest & the Mustang the easiest to drive I think with the Audi in the middle. Maybe some BoP can be introduced to even things up a bit, not sure how much though. Would 100kg for the Nissan & 50kg for the Audi be too much.  Huh Is there a way to test it?

Could we have a rolling start for these to negate the Audi's traction advantage off the line?

That is probably why I can drive the Mustang.....
I think if a car is more difficult to drive, and is faster, then if you can master it you should get
some benefit. But two secs is too much. I will do some testing this week, and work out some
weight settings. We can adjust the weights as the season progresses.

Can we assume no extra weights for round 1?

I will have some time today to test. If there are weights they will not be huge
We can add in future rounds if we need to

EDIT: I have given the Nissan a small handicap, and a tiny amount to the Audi
Not enough to change much, just may even things up a little

haha. I believe it  thumbup2 thumbup2 thumbup2

I enjoyed that one. The Nissan is still too fast though, I will slow it down a bit. Happy for one car to be fastest on the straights
but should not be a second or more quicker over a lap.

I would not have been staying in front of Spanner in the Ford.

The Audi wasn't far off, maybe a tad more weight.

I don't object to what you're proposing Matt but none of us Nissan peddlers could keep up with Geoff, it's going to be awfully lonely for him if we doctor it further.

Shame I made 2 mistakes being too eager on the power coming out of corners. After the 1st I managed to close Toni down and even get passed. Then made small inroads in to Geoff's lead, although was never going to catch him. Especially after sneaking in a fastest lap Geoff went even quicker! 2nd error let Toni back through but a stellar T1 on the last lap made it a close finish and snuck me the fastest lap back from Geoff, just.

Quite easy for the Nissan to let go at the back but if you're not being silly it is generally catchable without losing bucket loads of time. Well done everyone, especially Geoff.

Fun race with Pete. This track benefits the Nissan due to the long straight and lack of tight corners. Daytona maybe even more so, but I would expect on twistier tracks the Audi is favoured. If the Nissan is nerfed too much I see little reason to drive it as the other two are easier to drive, even if somehow less fun.

I really enjoyed that, the Mustang is great fun with just about the right blend of handling & power. Toni kept me busy for the first half of the race but then mysteriously dropped back into the clutches of Pete leaving me to enjoy the race on my own.

I agree with Pete, the Nissan & Mustang are quite evenly matched now & don't need any more adjustment. The Nissan should be dominant at Daytona & the Mustang should have the advantage at Laguna Seca. I personally would remove the weight from the Audi as it was a touch off the pace here. Just my opinion.

Congrats to Toni & Pete on the podium.  clap clap

I think Geoff's pace was the exception. I would not normally have qualed where I did, or kept pace in the race as I did
had I been in the Audi or the Ford.

I will make a very small change to the Nissan, but if it keeps being the dominant car, it will get some more
or everyone will drive it, and the series will become a Nissan challenge.

I did some testing on line, and the Audi was faster than the Ford for me, so it gets a small handicap. I might
give it full power and add some weight.
Any handicaps can be changed if needed. One event is not enough to go making big weight or power changes
I don't want to cripple any car so it becomes a non starter.

It was a good race anyway I thought, I do like these cars, they are all driveable but need some attention.

So, I have removed the 5kg from the Audi, and moved it to the Nissan, it will make very little difference to either
I just feel the Nissan was still slightly too fast. I tried more power reduction in testing, but that crippled it too much
so what we have now is probably about right.

Question: How was the tyre wear in the Ford and Audi? My wear in the Nissan was quite high at the front
particularly the front left. Both were yellow and the car was slower towards the end.

I felt the tyres were degrading after 10-12 mins but then I set my fastest lap as the last one. I did notice in practice the car was quite fuel sensitive, I struggled a bit with the bigger fuel load. However never having driven the car before last night I suspect better understanding of the car and it's quirks made more of a difference to lap times than tyre wear or lack of. Crew Chief did tell me my front tyres were showing signs of wear, he also kept telling me throughout the race the tyres were cold! Don't know what I need to do to keep tyres warm.

Both fronts on the Audi were yellow, front left went first. Traction at the start and out of corners were my only advantages, I'm possibly not the best gauge though. I was eventually really hammering them, just to get out of corners.

I tried all the cars prior to the race, my decision to take the Audi was to try n stay out of others way... I failed.

Apologies to Birger for practice, I couldn't get out of the way, sorry sir.

I enjoyed the race though, something new in R3E of late. Not qualifying was a good idea, how I'd have gotten in the way had I started any further forward.

Geoff's pace in the 'Stang, my usual first choice, would have disheartened me greatly. Grats sir, and to Toni n Pete. Incidentally Pete, you finished a race...
