After a couple of disasterous races of late, my hopes were not high at Monjuich. In order to compete successfully, my setups have become modified to the point, where front and rear now compete, to see which can cross the finish line first. This does not always end well.
The race was action packed from the start. I decided to tag along to watch the battle ahead. As the lead stretched, Andreas kindly let me through to chase them down, but wagging my tail in approval was a mistake. A discussion with the Armco at the hairpin, over which direction to take next, had Andreas retake my position, and for the race remainder we were locked in battle.
Several times, the rear of my Lotus gained the upper hand briefly, but with little time lost. Each time I could catch, but not pass the Matra ahead. It was a Stewart versus Rindt revival! Some good racing.
The pitboard showed our battling duosomes, to be in P1 and P2 at the finish. But this race was destined to be a well earned victory for Cookie, had the GPL Gods not descended, to envoke an electronic failure. Lapscorer's failed to believe a BRM could win , but I can confirm the inconsiderate way in which Tom left us behind. A happy 3rd place here.
