Welcome to round 6 of the 1st UKAC GPL67 Series

Fonteny is the most recent creation from FatAlfie - but unlike the others is fictional-ish....
These are real French roads but turned into a 1960's loonatic road course to challenge the Nurburgring - When I said you wanted to start practicing about a month ago I wasn't kidding, this one is 26KMs long...

Qualifying is remaining @ 15 minutes, this will give time for 1 flying lap - I'll be changing the wait times to ensure that people can finish. It's upto you if you want to go flat out and risk a null time or just go for a banker Wink

I've put a flying lap in the BRM together to give you some pointers, this will hopefully help speed the learning process for those of you who haven't started yet.

https://youtu.be/0UvhfihIRe4

If you look in the track folder you will also find a pretty good drivers handbook which explains the various sections of track and gives some driving hints.

Damage and fuel use:

100% damage
100% fuel use
0% Tire wear (This is actually far more accurate than the mods' built in wear rate and 'fixes' the BRM)
Drivers must complete 50% of each race to score.

With the above in mind you will want to treat the first lap or two very carefully while your tires warm up and you adapt to driving on a heavy fuel load.
The 1st lap will be moderated as far as Cascade

As per the 1967 F1 scoring system, each driver will discard their worst 2 scores when the points are calculated at the end of the season (Done for you in LM2)

BoP will be as follows:

Lotus & Eagle = 40Kgs
Ferrari           = 30Kgs

There will be no success ballast.

Practice: 19:30 (45 mins)
Qual: 20:15 (15 mins)
Race: 20:30  (6 laps)

Track:
 Fonteny
https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/fonteny.30137/

Cars allowed:
3l 1967 F1 from the GPL67 mod.
I've put them on dropbox for now as the original download was apparently VERY slow:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/o719sdx2kohk668/AC%20GPL67%20V2.20.rar?dl=0

Instructions on installing the carset can be found in the 2nd post of the registration thread - here: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=24972.msg480312#msg480312
You MUST follow these instructions in order to install and use the mod

Could you at least turn off cut track warnings?
I don't think anybody (except you) is particularly excited to drive this track. But really, if I put in 25 minutes, just to have it all nullified for going slightly wide somewhere, while going at 75% of the possible speed, I don't think I'm going to bother coming back.

In theory I have done now - Although I can't see why not getting a time would stop someone practising?
Surely that's an even bigger incentive to practice more

I'm not actually going to learn the track. I'm going to drive by reading the signs on the side of the track, like I was driving with my car through the french country side, which is how I see this race Smiley Just want to see that 15 minute lap time recorded on the server.

I've restarted the server for you Kimi - if that doesn't fix it then it must be something at your end Huh

Similar thing happend "couple" series back ( 2 years or so ), then it was track or server related issue. I'll test it later, btw Jari have same problem.

Not sure if I'll make this after all. I'm out all day cycling tomorrow so depends what time and what state I'm in when I get home.

A fellow cyclist?  Grin
Road or MTB? I'm MTB'er, just got my first full suspension bike a few weeks back. Nothing like a relaxing 50km ride onto some mountain top (or why do you torture yourself like that as my father would put it  Grin ).

I am also a cyclist, or rather, I was. I have been cycling at a competitive level for several years. Since I was short of time due to work, I have quit. It's been a couple of years that I started cycling again, but without competing, just as a hobby (only because a friend convinced me to start again Grin).
Road cycling.

Syd, 50 km in offroad are good. The distance for long mountain bike races are roughly on that mileage.
