Season 38 – 1967 Grand Prix F1 – Round 10 – Reims
The tenth race in the 1967 GP series finds us at Reims in France.  The circuit is basically several long straights with a couple of hairpins and a few cornfields. Catching a tow is what this track is about. It normally produces close racing. Reims-Gueux was first established in 1926 on the public roads between the small French villages of Thillois and Gueux. The circuit had two very long straights between the towns, and teams strove to maximize straight-line speed of their cars; many slipstream battles ensued. Race organizers actually felled trees and demolished old houses in order to make the circuit even quicker. International racing came with the first official Formula One event occurring in 1950, the inaugural year of the Formula One world championship. The circuit layout was shortened and changed in 1952 to bypass the town. In the 1954 race, the long-awaited Mercedes W196 with its straight-8 fuel-injection engine made its debut with Juan Manuel Fangio transferring from Maserati to join an otherwise all-German line-up of Hans Herrmann, Karl Kling and pre-war driver Hermann Lang. It was a dominant return with Fangio recording a practice lap of 124.31 mph. He and Kling led away and continued to race side by side around the Reims track. The Ferrari drivers simply couldn't cope with the pace. There was no race at Reims in 1955 and when the Grand Prix circus returned in 1956, it was without the silver arrows. Fangio dominated again but this time in a resurgent Ferrari team who's drivers also claimed the remaining podium places.

Too bad, it could have been a nice race,
but after the early spin of Greg I drove alone in front and with time my mind wandered
so that I approached the T2 wrong and ended up in the cornfield.

Grats Markus for the win and Fulvio for the Championship thumbup2

I used the Track Gap Freeze Fix Patch without any trouble.

Except during the very first laps, until Billy retired, it was a lonely race.

On the first lap, I was very surprised by an early braking of Mister ..Nobrakes at the hairpin of virage de Muizon, and our race almost ended at this moment  Shocked

Congrats to Fulvio for the championship, Markus for the win and Philippe 2nd at race and championship  !

Unfortunately real life issues prevented us from arriving in time to participate. When Igor started the server did not accept any more connections.
Thank you for organizing this championship.

Thx guys, it was ages since I won something  Smiley
I was very lucky in the first part of season and capitalized for second half where I had some off expecially at the Ring where I had some good hopes but I blew engine at first lap.
See you next season!

Grats to Philippe and Rainier for the podium places!

Unfortunately this was a rather lonely race after Greg lost it on the brakes at the end of the long straight (at Virage de Thillois). I was clearly slower in the first two laps, but I was hoping that because of your fight with Axel, I might be able to join in. With no one to fight Axel was at least 1s faster and I just focused on consistent driving. Without your mistake Axel, I would never have had any chance to win here with the Ferrari.

Congrats again to Fulvio for winning the championship and to Philippe for becoming second!!
Thanks to the admins for organizing the leagues and providing the servers!!!  I Am Not Worthy

One more thing:
In my opinion the high speed/full throttle tracks such as Reims, Hockenheim, Tripoli or Monza do not work very well with the original 67 mod. They work much better with other mods as there is much more slipstream which allows for intense pack racing. But I never experienced this in the original 67 mod so the races were much less likely to be close. So for me 4 out of 10 races on high speed tracks were a bit too much for a season. What do you think about it?

Congrats Markus and Fulvio!

I screwed up that one. I missed my braking point by at least a car length. The bump got me sideways making me nothing more than a passenger. I was glad nobody had a problem because of my mistake.

I concur. The it would work better with the 67x mod

I don't understand why they want a 200m vacuum, this is unrealistic, I looked for videos of races in Reims, Monza, Spa...... clearly there is no crazy vacuum force at 200m, clearly if the driver isn't close at least at 30m the force does not exist!

Please guys, see this graph of monza 67, lap by lap.
realize that there is no frantic shifting of positions like some mods with exaggerated 200m vacuum.
I think the original mod67 is still more in line with the reality of the time.
