Season Break 38/39 - Fun + Test – 1965 F1 - Goodwood

This race is at Goodwood, which is situated near Chichester, West Sussex, close to the south coast of England, on the estate of Goodwood House. The circuit is famous for holding the annual "Goodwood Revival" Historic car meeting and for an accident that finished the career of Stirling Moss. In 1962, Stirling was competing in the International 100 race for Formula One cars when, towards the end of the race, he was attempting to pass Graham Hill’s BRM V8 on the outside of Fordwater bend when his car shot onto the grass and struck a low bank protecting spectators. At the time of the accident Stirling was two laps behind Graham Hill, who went on to win the race. Stirling was delayed by a stop for attention to his gear change mechanism and carburettors, and was in no position to challenge for the lead; nevertheless it didn't stop him trying to unlap himself.

This car/track combi had several problems that got solved by the new

I had this problem with the 65s a few weeks ago. I reinstalled the 65 mod and it seems to have fixed it. It only takes 5 mins to install so you have enough time to try it.

That's a pity, but best to find these things out in a fun race rather than a league race. I'll run a few more 65 tests in the off season so you will have a chance to sort this out.

Sorry about that, my mistake. I set the wrong number of laps. Thankfully I didn't do that in a league race Shocked

Jordan had a few problems but nothing to do with the track so it looks like another successful test for the new patch. Fantastic news

Managed to get the crash/reset out of the way early on, so didn't have that to worry about later Smiley

GPL-related, was stable for me;  just a brain-freeze late in the race at T1. As a result, 31-lap event would have been preferred!

Thanks for the event; good to see a full turn-out.
Hope the individual niggles get sorted out.

I had a great battle with Claudio in the early stages and then a race long duel with Doni. I managed to catch up to Andreas and Doni after about 5 laps and I was lucky to pass both of them when they made tiny mistakes clipping the grass on laps 9 and 11. I pushed hard to try to shake them off but I couldn't. On lap 16 we were about to lap a Lotus when I touched the grass myself and spun out (not your fault Francesco, it was entirely my mistake). So I had to chase after the pair of them again. I eventually managed to catch Doni on lap 21 but Andreas was long gone. I set about hassling Doni, trying to force a mistake and I thought I had a chance on the very next lap when Doni put a couple of wheels on the grass on the exit of Lavant Corner and that gave me the opportunity to get alongside down the Lavant Straight. As we came to the s-bend at the end I wasn't sure where Doni was so I cut across the grass to avoid any chance of contact. Good job I did too. I checked the replay and we would have touched. Doni ran wide and spun off. In the race I couldn't be sure we had made contact (I checked the replay and we didn't) so I decided to wait for Doni and let him have the place back. I wasn't happy with my move anyway, it wasn't clean and going off-track to overtake isn't good form. So battle recommenced and I was all over the Cooper gearbox until the last lap when I squeezed past on the Lavant Straight after Doni made another tiny error in Lavant Corner. Great racing in the Cooper Doni!
