FUN RACE

Practice: 20:00 (30 mins)
Qual: 20:30 (15 mins)
Race: 20:45 (2x 20 mins)

Cars allowed: FR3 class

Circuit: Hockenheim GP
Time of Day Setting: 13:00
Weather: Dry

Start: Standing
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit Stops: none required

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the relevant Track Packs for this series
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.
(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

Sorry Stephen, lack of practice, car seemed Okay yesterday but circumstances today prevented any practice today until tonight. I just couldn’t get the car to turn in. Adjustments caused problems ridding the kerbs and I couldn’t get a timed lap in even when I went back to yesterday’s setup. Decided not to try racing and spoil other drivers night.

These cars do not have problems turning in Bill, What were your steering settings? I only just bought the car so was running the default steering settings. the only corner i had to move my hands passed 90deg movement was the hairpin. Single seaters naturally have smaller lock to the wheel than GT's.

These cars are good fun to drive quick hotlapping, but every corner is horrible as you try to get on the throttle without losing the back. Also the braking distances are short, and trying to gauge others driving style when running close is a nightmare as you spend all the time trying  not to hit them.

Most of the first half of practise was just running default, but with all single seaters are stiff and have no mechanical grip in the slower speed corners so softened the dampers a touch, reduced the front ARB. Did understeer more in the faster corners but helped in the lowspeed ones. So was pretty surprised to be that quick in it.

Thanks spanner, I think my problem was me. sleep1 The previous day I was quite happy with the car but Sunday was a busy day and I just couldn’t find the correct turn in point. I either took too much kerb or ploughed straight on so I tried changing my setup without any success, so I went back to my original setting. As I said I quit as it was obvious I just wasn’t enjoying my driving! I don’t have much stamina now.

it was good to get a comparison between the AC and RRE versions of this car at the same track, i prefer the AC version which i think feels a bit more 'real' but i still enjoyed racing the RRE version and would happily do a series in them.
