Moderator's Report

There was some corner cutting in this race. I would like to point out GTR2 is not sensitive at detecting corner cutting, but UKGTR cutting rules applied to this race, so they should be followed. Therefore I unfortunately will have to exclude some drivers and penalise others.

These 'incidents' represent the single hardest set of decisions we as moderators have ever had to make. As chief moderator I am personally very disappointed that so many drivers chose to ignore the cutting rules, which were only introduced as the result of requests from existing drivers.

  • Bernie Lomax — regular, blatant cutting of corners, eg. 727, 1219, 2539, 2965, 3526 — excluded
  • Dan Minton — regular, blatant cutting of corners, eg. 500, 502, 700, 726, 727, 840 — excluded
  • Enzo (enzo)caution — occaisional accidental corner cutting, eg. 358, 426, 1282, 1505 — 10.000 seconds added
  • james ([R24-7]james) — regular, blatant cutting of corners, eg. 814, 917, 1021, 1061 — excluded
  • LEUVENwarning — repeated cutting of corners, eg. 622, 1183, 1410, 1521, 1634, 1750 — 30.000 seconds added
  • mo — regular, blatant cutting of corners, eg. 833, 1282, 3180, 3960, 4292 — excluded
  • pribeiro (PRibeiro) — regular, blatant cutting of corners, eg. 387, 429, 588, 614 — excluded
  • purdie ([R24-7]perdy450) — regular, blatant cutting of corners, eg. 841, 1155, 1403, 1605, 1629, 1744 — excluded
  • Simon Gymercaution — occaisional accidental corner cutting, eg. 2525, 3201, 4051, 3424, 3465 — 10.000 seconds added
  • Truetom — regular, blatant cutting of corners, eg. 1290, 1332, 1445, 1490, 1627, 1826 — excluded

Server replay time: 1030s

PRibeiro is trying to go around Enzo into the first part of the Rettifilo. Enzo cuts the first part trying to defend but is unsuccessful and PR has the place as they brake for della Roggia.

PR then cuts the second part of the chicane.

I'm writing these up as cautions because any gain made would have offset against the other driver's cut.

  • Enzo (enzo)caution — accidental corner cut
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded
  • pribeiro (PRibeiro)caution — accidental corner cut
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 1061s

James cuts through the grass at the lefthander out of Variante Ascari. By doing this he can carry more speed out of the corner making a pass on Paul Richards fairly easily. James didn't give the position back.

Normally this would have been worth a 2 place penalty. It will be reduced to a caution because of his exclusion.

Server replay time: 1929s

Paul968 is following Enzo through Ascari, and takes advantage of the latter's mistake on the exit to get alongside into Parabolica.

They travel down the main straight side by side, Paul getting about 65% ahead and on the left by the time they reach the turn in point for the Rettifilo. Enzo cuts the first part of the chicane, with both left side tyres on the green concrete, which allows him to get back fully alongside Paul. who is thus compromised on the exit.

Enzo then wins the drag race to the della Roggia and regains the place.

  • Enzo (enzo)penalty — gaining advantage through corner cutting — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 2136s

Leuven gets a decent exit out of Ascari and draws almost level with PaulW, but as they continue towards Parabolica, PaulW's superior top speed moves him just clear of Leuven's nose.

At the 200 metre board, Paul, who is in the middle of the road with Leuven on the right, moves fairly sharply back to the left, right in front of Leuven, who has to duck quickly right to avoid running into the back of him under braking - there are less than two seconds between Paul's move and the braking point.

Having forced him to swerve back over the right, Paul then tries to squeeze Leuven, who is about half way alongside at the turn in point, out of a move, and instead finds himself knocked sideways and off the track.

Essentially it's a racing incident, but moving over right in front of another driver just moments before a braking zone is not a smart idea. If you don't think you can make the corner from an inside line, you have to brake earlier. Sometimes that means giving up the corner.

  • PaulWadvice — don't move over in front of something right before a braking zone

Can we not limit the 550's performance as will leave other cars for dead?

Not this again Lips Sealed.

Monza is a track that suits the F550 very well, but the season has also been at Valencia and Donnington. Two twisty tracks. Where were the complaints about people going for the better handling cars?

Swings and roundabouts.

Also, who all plans to jump ship to the 550 for this race out of interest?

No. I've never liked the F550 in GTR 1 or 2 so don't plan to start now (maybe  Wink).

Whats your verdict on corner cutting or you just letting the game handle it?

I understand the points made, but if someone suddenly jumps from one car to the 550 it seems like cheating. As Ruskus says taking the whole season into consideration, it is fair those who have stuck by the 550 all season do so now.

Those who change to the 550 for this race, it almost seems like cheating. Any other form of racing does not allow drivers to change back and forth

These lines are Legal:

Going any further over the curbs will result in taking the stipes with you and unsettling the car alot, so cutting more isn't very benifitial.

It's not cheating as it was decided ages ago that people could change cars, the difference this season is that changing cars every race to suit the track will cost a lot of points.
People have changed cars earlier in the season with nobody complaining so why now we come to Monza? It's not fair saying it is cheating just because you dont want to change your car is it, and its not like changing cars is braking the rules.

Which part of the Rules are you struggling to understand?

This is the type of bull answers i cant really understand...its not like I'm asking where to install Monza or something  Sad If im being unnecessary i apologies but i guess Ive gotten used to the excellent manner and friendliness of the R2P stewards  Wink
Keep the sarcasm tightly sealed somewhere else please.

...anyway, why i asked i don't think you have been moderating GTR races this season as the corner cutting rules you so politely directed me to has been breached sooooo much this season i just felt a sterner implementation would apply to Monza specifically or maybe just a little notice/warning so the moderator wont have to sanction penalties afterwards.

These lines are Legal:

Thank you for that, my aim was just to let most understand the "boundaries" in which to drive. Appreciated!

It doesnt really matter if they change cars, it doesnt prove anything that we dont already know. Plus their engines will blow anyway  Shocked Wink
