To celebrate the successful launch of this new franchise, Race will now be offered at $29.95, attracting even more racing fans into the growing multiplayer action.

Surely they meant to say paying customers $29.95?  angel

Well I've been playing the free trial and all I can say is, this game needs a lot more work done to it. It feels to me like a beta version.

The core driving gameplay itself seems slightly better than the demo, but my main problems are:

1) The force feedback is more like rumble feature than feedback.
2) The sounds is still very bad.
3) The multiplayer should not have been included in that state. It's not even worth trying to play online...dumped on grid randomly on top of other cars, countdown not working, exceedingly bad warp etc.

Compared to GTR 2 or GTL the graphics are nowhere near as good,. It's the tracks more than the cars that just don't look very good. Some are better than others.

Gameplay wise, it is only "fun" whilst racing other cars. Hotlapping is a no no and if you're on your own the driving is a bit boring. There is something not right with the way the cars handle, although it's not the worst driving model I've come across it can be fun at times, but I won't be buying it.

Nice post Simon....i too felt very disappointed and although my teamies were urging me to get the game ive now seen for myself and have cancelled my order.

Although some races i had was fun, especially with the 2 race reverse grid system...its just not enough overall to warrant a purchase even thou the game can be had for £14 of GAME.co.uk  Wink

The interface is HORRIBLE!! ..and unfortunately the skill level of drivers is astonishingly low. Its like Mario kart out there Wink

LOL, good description. They must all be using joypads and keyboards I reckon. Without any trouble at all i was 9 seconds a lap faster than anyone else at Oschersleben in a public server.

I suggest you give Mario Kart on the DS a go online... then see if you still think the driving standards are low!!! Shocked Wink Cheesy

(only kidding, I know what you mean Smiley)

It's great- it's got a monkey driver who throws banana skins at you and a Plumber who squirts oil slicks behind him that make you slide off the psycadelic rainbow track into a load of exploding cardboard boxes!
