The 1967 F2 Fun race finds us at Virginia in the USA. In 1955, a group of North Carolina car enthusiasts began their search for a possible racetrack location. They soon found the perfect site on the state line on land owned by the Foote Family and Virginia International Raceway (VIR) opened for business in August of 1957. The group leased the property as Sports Car Enterprises. VIR’s first official event was a SCCA race that attracted stars like Carroll Shelby, Carl Haas, Bob Holbert, Augie Pabst, Bob Grossman, Don Yenko, Dr Dick Thompson, Walt Hansgen and Bruce Jennings. Shelby, who would later go on to worldwide fame by winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1959 and creating the iconic Cobra sports cars in the early 1960s, won that first feature race at VIR in a Maserati 450S.The lconic Texan uttered a quote about the track that is remembered to this day, “one lap at VIR is like a hundred at Watkins Glen.”

Handicapping:
There will be no handicapping.  Drivers have a free choice of chassis. Unlimited number of Shift-Rs are allowed with no need to make a Stop and Go.

This is a fun race so incidents will not be moderated but please drive carefully and with consideration for others.

Please, excepting emergencies, no chat until Session Completed in qualification. No chat in the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

I'm able to connect to the server, join the event, but there is no green button to get into the car and go on track

How long did you wait?
The server is a very slow pc - it needs a minute after a session to start the next!

Does it work offline?

I joined in varius different times during practice, trying different configurantions, on my part, even a track reinstall but the issue persisted.

Track works normal offline.

Something like this happens becouse of the 60fps patch as I remember.

Server has 67F2 with 60fpsV2newmod - if you have any other patch you can't join.

You have this when a sound file is missing or corrupt

Try with other car...

Look in your thack folder. Use the 3DO file that comes in the zip file. Either track souds or fps help

Strange things happen with this track, server crashes, my office PC gets no green button online with 69x...

I think we go back to the old version if not solved before the S39 races

I was able to connect to UKGPL_8 fine earlier today & ran some F2 laps without issue.
This evening, I was either able to connect but had no green button,  or could not connect (timeout error) and then noticed the server was still showing in iGOR for a few minutes, but the remaining/status time was frozen.

I did jump on when it was running 69X & managed (barely!) to get a complete lap in, with no apparent server issue.   I disconnect/reconnected, but then had no green button to join the track.

So it certainly seemed to work at times.


Shame. good looking track.  Admittedly on my weak client machine, I'd notticed a couple of areas where there was some FPS drop (particularly round the oak tree)  so had copied the "Frame_Rate_Help"  & "Type3_16bit_horizon" files from the zipped archive to the main track folder, which did seem to help.  Although it still looks great!
