Season 39 - 69X – Round 1 –  Daytona Road Circuit

Something a bit different for the first Round, the Daytona International Speedway at Daytona Beach, Florida. The venue is famous for the oval used for the prestigious Daytona 500 NASCAR race. We will use the sports car course which combines high speed oval racing with big 180 degree turns often seen on US tracks.

Please check the Season 39 pages for details regarding rules and the 1969x F1 pages in particular.

Handicapping
The cars will be divided into five groups, each group containing cars of similar performance.
Drivers will be graded as either "Professional", "Intermediate" or "Amateur".
Drivers will be limited to cars from specific groups based on their grade
and must choose 2 cars and drive them an equal number of times.

Incidents will not be moderated as we race as gentlemen.
One Shift-R is allowed with no need to make Stop & Go.

That was a strange finish. The chequered flag was shown to me where the start line was so I slowed down and pulled in before the white line on the banking which was the actual finishing line. Hence my last lap didn't count. Looks like the same issue for Leo  taz

Ah, there are 2x chequered flags here.  I only managed to notice at the end of a practice session!

Unlucky chaps.  Still was quite frantic at times,  could have done without the spins - but better than expected!

The flags were confusing at the end. I did an extra lap just to make sure. Smiley

Not that it made much difference to me in the Lotus 63.

Yeah Phil, some glitch I guess? I did a hole full lap more, no lift off as I was looking at pribluda, and then at the back straight I got the chequered flag.

Sorry, but the finish line is at the entry to the infield course!

I thought you all know that...

The pribluda laps are shown when you pass the pit board position and that can be confusing!

I knew you were leading going into (what I thought was) the last lap because I was watching Pribluda (I didn't want to get lapped). I was also watching Dave stretch the gap and I was trying to hold Pete off.

I'll remember the second flag next time!!

After this flag you should have driven further to the finish line...

But I was loosing positions before that, race still going on, I was still racing , not after I stoped. It's like one lap of mine didn't count.
