Well, that should have been a great battle between, DD, Daz & myself, with just a couple of hundredths separating the three of us in qually. Unfortunately it turned into a long hard chase after DD & I both spun at the same corner on successive laps early on, handing Daz the lead. I dropped to 4th behind Suti, who I eventually caught & who graciously let me past, however I ran out of laps to catch DD & finished a couple of seconds behind him. Very pleased with my pace, but disappointed with my spin & losing a potential victory.

Congrats to Daz on a faultless win & to DD in 2nd & well done Kurt taking the 500 spoils.  clap clap clap

Baffled of Bristol here   Huh

I confess that I have never fully got to grips with these cars, but last night I was totally embarrassed by my lack of pace in a 650cc car.

Kurt was in a 500cc and he was visibly faster everywhere except at the end of the straights.

Although I was slightly compromised by giving way to cars lapping me, and that began VERY early in the race, it does not explain how or why my car was so slow?? Compared to the other 650cc cars it was as if I had my foot on the brakes!! they simply reeled me in, swept past and disappeared  Undecided I could not even keep them in sight for more than half a lap ??!!

If any of the aliens feels sorry for me maybe they can post their setups online, because I am totally bemused by my lack of basic pace in a car that is like a go-cart.

I guess you have checked your pedal operation Clive. You are getting full throttle & are not having the brakes partly on or the clutch partially engaged.

I don't have a setup for the Giannini but I have uploaded my Abarth 695 setup if you want to try it.

Liked this car/track combination already last year although I was the slowest in the class (Markus was the fastest with lap times of 1:12.5)

This year I was with identical car and identical setup about 0.8 to 1 second slower than last year Sad , but the only starter.
Thus an unexpected class win and the only way to achieve one.  Grin

Nearly overlooked passing faster cars twice  Roll Eyes Tongue - glad that nothing happened.

Does anybody have a setup for the 500 Montecarlo for Tsukuba?

It was great chasing here between me, Daz and Geoff. As Geoff said we had amazing qualifying session where the first 3 finished in 25 thousands. I think the three of us were able to go even faster but after making .1 or 2 it was just like a wall, so hard to complete the perfect lap.

Rave was going OK until i span for the first time with the car. Geoff was all over me and i decide to change my driving with later brakings, but unfortunately that didn't worked as planed. Later Geoffers had a span at the same corner and Daz was now on the lead.

I gave everything to catch him but he was around 1 tent faster per lap and from 4 seconds i think at the end gap was 6. I was happy that the race finish though as Geoff was flying in P3. From 11 seconds he was abl to finish in just 2 behind me.

Great race as always and grats to Daz, Geoff and everyone.

Does anybody have a setup for the 500 Montecarlo for Tsukuba?

I do have a one, but it is not optimal at least for me. I recall having problem last year always having either too long or too short 4th gear and I ended up driving with the too long one which gave me an edge in the end of the main straight, but then again losing in rest of the twisty section.

Tsukuba is challenging track and cars like these, having just "a bit wide" corner can easily make a 2-3 seconds difference. As I wanted to save some 500TV action to last 2 Div ½ races, I decided to go with upper class even though I knew having hard time getting good result. So 6th is pretty much all that was doable. Matt was faster than me and Fulvio was about as far behind as Matt was forward.

Congrats to winners and thanks to Kurt and Tony for results and points. Smiley

In next one, it's almost totally about who dares to lift the throttle last. CY-33's real masterpiece rewards the fearless ones, just like the real one did. Smiley

Gearing makes a massive difference in these cars Clive, just a couple of ratios out and you are way off in terms of laptime. Add to that the scenario Nappe is referring to of getting the corner entry wrong or right, and it is a recipe for losing a lot more time than you would imagine.

As for my race, I got lucky as the two quicker guys both span at turn 1. Now, given that was the corner that I messed up last season to allow Geoffers through, I know how easy it is for that to happen, so you have my sympathy. Geoffers was clearly the fastest, I had a very small amount in reserve as I was trying to look after the front left tyre, but he was stellar for race pace.

Given I only got back from Cornwall at 4 and had no practise I'll very much take the result!
