NoGrip Legacy HTC Server is now running 1968 Fuji Speedway GP with practice password. Smiley

I also updated the Server Stats: Now the class drive count per driver has color coding showing if you are closing or have already full filled your 5 drives in certain class.

Practice server has fuel off and cuts off. Is this correct?

Cuts were off by accident, but fuel should have been Normal...
But I restated the server with correct settings. Smiley

Thanks Tony for the notice.

Quite a challenging track considering that the Mini is flat out for a considerable part of it.

I practiced a few starts before the race as the Mini is not the easiest to get off the line, all of which went well. Come the race however, I bogged it down big time & everyone else disappeared down the straight as I waited for the power to pick up. So it took a few laps & others mistakes for me to take the 1300 class lead.
I then had Fulvio's 1600 Escort a few seconds ahead & a long chase started. Initially Fulvio gradually pulled away but then he had a couple of slow laps & I was just able to get a tow. For several laps we had a similar scenario where I would just get ahead exiting the hairpin before the power told & Fulvio regained the position up the hill or along the S/F straight. Eventually the battle was resolved when Fulvio ran off the track at the 100R turn. It was good fun for many laps though.

Congrats to Daz, Suti & Chris.  clap clap clap

Great report Geoff. Smiley

While Practicing I noticed Bellett having top speed of 215 kph which made it inferior against TC which has top speed of 225 kph. However racing 1968  Fuji with anything else than Bellett GTR was not an option.  Grin I knew being underdog as I saw that I was only one in Bellett, so I knew that I needed to be faster in twisty bits. a lot faster. First time ever I did very oversteery setup by setting up differential to complete lock on power side and 60% for coast side. Final drive was set longest (of course) and I loosened suspension up to get some aggressive weight transfer and more grip.

The result was astonishing car that needs to be driven just tiny bit over the limit all the time. Basic cornering technique was slow down (lift or brake) just before apex to get the rear lighten up, bring the mass to front wheels, throw the car thru the apex and just when the car started to understeer, floor the gas which sunk the rear to the ground and pushed the car thru the rest of the corner with maximum grip. Very scary and very rewarding driving experience. I can imagine this being the technique in Finnish national rally championships with Bellett in 60's and 70's and it sort of explains how they were able to deliver good results even though Bellett is famous about it's bad brakes. (Yes, they are really bad even in 1960's scale in real world. Bellett teaches you very quickly the usefulness of predictive driving and engine braking when driven in normal road traffic. Smiley )

On the negative side you can imagine what this style does to the tires... Luckily there was that long main straight let the tires cool down back to green. Cheesy

And this did work. After doing some lawn movering in first lap, I started to hunt down fellow racers car by car. Surprisingly I was a lot faster than some TC drivers even on main straight... or at least down to half way of it. Obviously I had a lot more exit speed from last corner and so I was able to use the momentum all the way to rpm redline, which was usually reached soon after the start line.

That was lot of fun. Smiley I am happy to the fourth place as based on 1st lap, it was not that obvious. Plus there's no way I could have challenged the top 3 places. Smiley

Originally intended to take the Bellet on its "hometrack", but in retrospect I was over three seconds slower than Nappe in the same car
and would have been totally off the pace in class.

My spontaneous idea was to try the NSU 1200TT and I found that I could nearly match my time in the Bellet - at least in praccy & qualy.
In race with more fuel, decreasing setup and far too many faults and offs I also ended in last place in class.

Nevertheless it was a lot of fun.

My report is similar in style to Geoffs....

I did hit the barrier a little in qualifying, but still managed to do a time that was a PB by just over a tenth, Suti was on a fast one though, and I went onboard with him as he took the pole with a great lap given no tow etc.

Made a hash of the start with the longest gears on the Escort, but so did Suti, allowing Chris to pull off into the lead. My car picked up enough to just creep into 2nd before turn 1, and I settled in to follow Chris. I had not done a huge amount of laps in practise, and was a little unsure on a couple of the corner entries, so following for a while was a good option for me. We all three got very close on the start finish straight, but my car was able to pull away and take the lead for turn 1 going on to lap 2.

Suti had followed me through. He was on essentially the same pace as me, and I am thinking had different gears, as he was massively quicker on a couple of corners, but slightly slower on the straight. This was both a total headache, and a bit of relief. Initially I did seem to pull away, but then ran wide on the final turn, and only just held onto the lead. From this point, up until lap 16 or so, we were only separated by a maximum of around a second. It was a case of making sure I hit certain apexes, or Suti was taking masses of time out of me, which I would then slowly claw back on the long straights a tenth at a time, and I felt as if Suti had been able to get passed me he may well have pulled away on the mid sector. But, I didn't know how much of an effect the tow was giving him, so just couldn't be sure. All I did know was that we were always close, and trading fastest laps....

All I could do was go as fast as I could. The longest gears were not a help at times, but I managed to find a couple of different lines to help keep the speed up, and in doing so made it harder to stay with me. My tires were slowly giving up, but given Suti was cornering faster than me I did wonder how his were getting on, especially when trying to exit the slow left hander for the big run onto the straight as I did seem to get better drive than him.

Sure enough, on that corner on lap 16 or 17, I watched in my mirror as he span out. I think he may have run a little wide and put a rear tyre on the grass in trying to maximise the corner speed. this was the break I needed, and gave me the freedom to drive my own lines for the rest of the race.

Grats Suti, great drive, very unlucky with that spin there.

Good combo this, much more difficult to extract the laptime than it first appeared, not sure if I've ever done exactly this layout before.

Where should I start. Exhausting race. I wasn't expecting any results from this race after driving barely 1:08 offline. I made some changes in setup which turned out to be right ones and I found myself on pole position. Thanks for allowing me to finish my last lap in qualyfication. I liked car's balance in middle sector and I could carry much speed through corners so I chose to race with shorter gears which meant I couldn't overtake daz in the beginning. I probably couldn't have kept up with him with longer gears and I wasnt expecting win anyway but It was really nice to be as fast as Daz as long as it lasted. I couldn't be happier to finish second after all drama in later half of the race. I spun in hairpin and a bit later I understeered off and managed to save it without spinning but right after that I collided with Tony. I got lucky and I bounced back from the wall into right direction and only Chris slipped by. At this point I was furious and still somehow collected myself and went after him as fast as I could with damaged car. I want to thank Chris for fair driving, he could have fought much harder to keep his well earned second place. Win went to right driver, Daz was superb once again. I don't know how you kept car under control when you went off in last corner.

Sorry Suti but I tapped your rear when your braking caught me napping. As you said at least you didn't spin and could continue soon after the impact.

No problem. I was trying to gather myself after driving off in previous corner and I braked earlier than usual.
