I tend to agree with Matt, particularly in my case as although DD's car suddenly appeared I really did have time to avoid it. Different with Erling as Hristo's car emerged at almost the same instant that Erling reached that point. Internet dropping out is a different matter, that is just too bad, but in this case it is some bug with the track as it happened in all three races. I would suggest that we do not use this track again until it is fixed.

PS: It is Tony's decision, but I request that I am returned to 9th place in race 1.

Like I said earlier, I would normally not ask for adjustment of results, and have suffered plenty of mishaps late in races and just accepted it.  Yesterday was special though; thought at the time that I had hit an invisible car, as it only became visible in the same instant I hit it, so no way of avoiding it.  Since my internet didn't drop out, and I only had 200m of clear, straight track left, and an undamaged car, it's 100% certain I would have finished 2nd without the bug - even if I had run out of fuel, I could have rolled across the line well before the 3rd place car.

OK, I admit it, Erling, it was deliberate and part of my plan to get Dimitar back up to 2nd  Hit with a wet fish

Great racing yesterday. We had good chases and battles with Hristo. Shame about I made so many mistakes, so I had to take only 2 second positions and one 3rd.

Grats to Hristo on his amazing driving and hat trick and to all on the podium. Smiley

After a 4 day weekend break, I returned home early enough to join the mayhem.

Thanks to Hristo for posting his setups. They were not exactly to my liking, but certainly better than the defaults ( and probably a lot better than I could have concocted   Roll Eyes). A few tweaks to roll bars and diff and my lap times improved.  Wink

Race 1
The Fezza felt like it was the easiest to drive and I was holding pace with Geoffers up ahead until i got too confident and made a complete horlicks of a corner. This allowed Tony to catch and take the opportunity to get ahead in his Aston(?). Like Hristo, I know this circuit layout from GPL and like Hristo I also know that there is really only one passing place which is braking into Tarzan. But, that requires better brakes than any of these cars appeared to possess!! Tony defended his position for lap after lap and a couple of my attempts to engineer a pass ended in my adjusting the length of the grass  Undecided.
Each time I was able to catch Tony again quite quickly even when my excursions allowed Kurt to pass me. Eventually I worked out where I was carrying more speed and went for a pass that required 3 or 4  corners to complete. Once ahead I was able to ease away comfortably, but was too far adrift from Geoffers to challenge....until I saw the wreckage just before the finish line and took avoiding action  Grin.

Race 2 with the Aston was a further improvement on my recent performances. Thanks to Kurt's observation about my brake lights I have made some crucial adjustments to the pedal software/sensitivity. Combined with the fix for the FF ( Alt/F ) things are beginning to feel much better in the controls dept.
Qualifying behind Erling and his Jag was a surprise but he provided me with a pace car for the early laps until I realised that I was perhaps slightly faster?? Now that has not happened for quite some time!!. Getting past him was going to be a problem, coz generally Erling does not make mistakes  Sad. But it was obviously be nice to Clive week, because he went sideways at Tarzan and left the road clear.... thumbup1 thankyou Erling.
A few laps later I discovered that I was up to 3rd place and I could almost taste the champagne. With a good gap back to Matt I relaxed until..... Lack of concentration allowed a rear wheel to get onto the grass and suddenly Matt was within a second scared. A few laps pushing hard eased me away and I got my champagne  Wink

Race 3
The setup for the Jag had seemed the best of the 3 during pre race practice, but the intermittent return of my FF gremlins screwed my quali lap and I started at the back of the field.
At the start it was clear that I needed to hit Alt/F to reinstate the FF to a very wobbly car, then I fluffed a downshift ...3 offs in 1.5 laps!!!  This did nothing to improve my mood and when I screwed yet another gearshift and went into dune buggy mode I decided to call it a day.

Grats to the podium guys and thanks to Tony for organising the historics series.

Just noticed I scored points in race 3 despite crashing out on lap 1. I thought the SROUK rule was that you needed to complete 1 lap before you could score points, has that changed for some series?

Didn't notice it yesterday, so grats on getting back to the podium, Clive!

As Dimitar said, I was able to benefit from him making more mistakes than usual, even though he had the pace to fight in at least 2 of the 3 races and was also leading, which meant I had little chance to overtake, but luck was in my favour.

I look forward to the next few races, as this championship is the one I enjoy the most this seson. The cars are a joy to drive and somehow almost always produce similar lap times, despite their technical differences.

Initially I hated the track/cars combo, but with some practice, I started enjoying all 3 cars.  The track has much of what I normally like - fast, sweeping curves and elevation changes.  Very challenging, as you have to keep your lines very tight, to get a fast lap (relatively speaking)

Race 1:
Had not expected to be fighting Geoffers in a Ferrari with my Jag, but that's how it turned out.  Had a gap of a few secs most of the race, but required 100% concentration and nailing every corner to maintain it.  Up ahead, the occational dust plume indicated that Manfred had had a moment, but it was never enough for me to profit from.  Grats to Hristo & pod.

Race 2:
No Clive, you qualified ahead of my Ferrari, but I did a Dan, mugging you at the start  Grin.   Staying ahead of Clive would be problematic it seemed, and after a couple of laps, I lost the rear, braking for T1, spinning off and gifting the place to Clive.  Wasted a huge amount of time trying to right the car; got stuck with nose up the banking and had to reverse, losing 3 more places in the process.  Managed to slipstream past an uncharacteristically slow Manfred in an Aston. Bit of a scary moment as we were both approaching another, slow moving Aston.  Had to adjust my line to go around it and feared I might hit Manfred, but thankfully that didn't happen.  Next hunted down Tony and passed him into T1 after some more slipstreaming.  Had my sights on Matt in 4th, when I noticed the presense of a green Aston in my mirror. Quick check revealed it to be Geoffers - so he had been the mystery, slow Aston I just avoided earlier.  My hunt for 4th now became a battle to keep 5th. However, as he got close, Geoff spun off entering the straight, so I could focus on Matt again.  Too little too late though, and the race ended before I could do much more.  Again grats to Hristo & pod.

Race 3:
Mugged Geoffers at the start this time . guess he must have been getting tired of me by then, but regrettably saw him flying off into the dunes in my mirror.   Couldn't keep up with the front runners obviously, but gradually pulling away from Matt, so a little lonely, until I caught up to a recovering Dimitar.  He started pulling away again, but then performed a dune stunt, gifting me 2nd - until Hristo's dastardly plan was executed...   Grats to Hristo on yet another win, commiserations/gratulations to Dimitar on 3rd.

Thanks again to Hristo for the setups - used the one for the Jag, while for the other two, earlier and slightly tweaked Hristo setups proved the best for me.
