Moderator's Report

Fran is struggling for outright pace around Cadwell which is a tight and twisty circuit. In the early laps he benefits from other driver's mistakes and gains a few places. At this stage in the race he is not obliged to yield his track position even if he is slower than following cars. But he makes a few mistakes of his own and drops back down the field. In time the faster drivers are lapping the tail enders and Fran is caught by much faster cars. In many instances Fran can be seen to move over and allow the leaders to lap him when he felt it safe to do so, However there were a few times when drivers were held up for almost half a lap and a train of cars develops behind Fran.
On one such occasion Bastian is amongst those cars and he takes his chance to lap fran around Chris and into Gooseneck. Bastian is much quicker on the outside line and completes the overtake with room to spare. However, Fran appears to fail to slow sufficiently for Gooseneck and runs straight into Bastian taking both cars onto the grass and compromising Bastian's race.
Fran was fully on the tarmac and under normal control and Bastian made no mistake.

Ziu is catching Tris to lap him and his closing the gap through Chris. Tris probably does not wish to be lapped and simply loses control of his car on the grass as he exits Gooseneck but is too keen to re-join.It might be that he is not used to being so uncompetitive and so he is therefore a little impatient. . Tristan's priority should have been to rejoin safely, not to rejoin as fast as possible. He should have driven carefully on the grass and re-joined after Mansfield and onto the inside of the track which is off the racing line.
Tris must have known that Ziu was close and a driver of Tristan's experience should have been aware that Ziu would pass him. Tris attempts to rejoin the circuit at the apex of Mansfield just as Ziu turns in. Ziu made no mistake and was entitled to take the racing line through Mansfield.

Drivers are reminded that abuse and bad language are NOT tolerated on the SROU forum. This is why we have the Incident Reporting system, so that the Race Stewards can make an impartial decision, just as in real life. Please try and resist the temptation to vent your frustration by posting on the forum directly after a race when the adrenaline is running high. Better to post an incident report and allow then red mist to clear.
It takes time to review incidents and to reach a decision, often involving several moderators and numerous PM's. In general we try to resolve incidents before the next race in any series, but this is not always possible simply because we have other jobs, lives and families outside of UKGPL.

Also, After watching the Cadwell replay it was noticeable how many small contacts were made that might have resulted in more serious incidents, Several drivers were guilty of driving too close to the car ahead and I would refer all competitors to the in car/overhead views on this page.

Enrique. Sorry that you had a disco. However, it's good to see, as far as I can tell, that your disco did not take anybody else with you. More evidence that the anti-freeze patch is working as intended. Bravo.

I remember how annoying it can be. Last season in the 65s at Cadwell I had a freeze whilst running in 3rd place with about three laps remaining. Grrr.

 Smiley

Congratulations to Ziu and Léo.  I Am Not Worthy
Sorry for the disconnected from the server.
I suffered from drops in FPS on certain parts of the circuit, especially behind an opponent.
After the accident of Yannick and Magic I am 3 behind Léo while Ziu is already far away.
I will make several mistakes no lose contact but no threat behind and I finish the race calmly by doing a reset 10 laps from the end for fear of running out of gas.

Thank you to everyone and for the organization.  Wink

A great start to the F2 season with a full grid.

Apologies to those who registered as "Full Time" who were not able to join the server.  Anyone who registered as "part time" is reminded that they should follow these guidelines............

As we have a total of 25 ( 19 full time and 6 part time) registered drivers for the F2 series, we use the following procedure:

If at 21:05 UK time the server is full with >17 drivers

The Reserve ( part time) drivers should leave for 10 Minutes to give waiting Full time drivers the chance to join.

If you have registered as Reserve ( part time) and think that you might actually like to participate in 75% or more of the races, then change your registration to Full Time. If we know that we have potentially 25+ drivers who will attend a race, then we can run a second server......but we need to know in advance.

I was on server as R1-
but I watched the numbers like David, near the end of quali I saw it was 19 and I thought it would be too late to leave now. Sorry Andreas.

In the race, wich was my first with a new wheel, I had not the right FFB + rotation settings yet, so I had to quit.

I tried to connect after 21:00, my bad, then after a couple of try I could join. I don't know who disconnected to leave me room.

[/quote]

It was me who left the server that time. Very strange thing: I was on the Server with about 30 min Qualy. Did some laps and qualified around P10. Then I saw 2 flickering Cars and thought that something was wrong with my connection. Next was a message with an error on my "Netzwerkkarte". So I left to check what was going on. Found no errors and wanted to rejoin. Then the Grid was full.  Huh In the replay I cannot been seen.  Sad

Realizing that Ziu was just too quik for me I just settled for a safe pace, hoping for some errors from his part. Looks like it came justo too late for me as he lost some 10+ seconds in the final laps, but just enough to keep his lead. Congratulations! Also for the lapped guys, you did a great job in this tight circuit.

Grats to our podium finishers!  Well done.

I had some good fun poking about with the Formula B Brabham enjoying some dices with Fran and in the waning laps, DaveR.  If not for the three resets noted for Evil, Bot and Phil and a couple of costly mistakes on my part plus a bunt off the road courtesy Monsieur Bot, I might have copped a top 10 finish.  Next time!  Smiley

The moderators are aware of incidents during, and after, the F2 race at Cadwell and are still considering their response.

This message is especially for all participants in that race and a gentle reminder for all.

When all of us registered/signed into this forum we agreed to the condition that forbids swearing or bad language.  nono

However frustrated, angry or excited you might be after an incident or a race, please pause for a moment and choose your words carefully before posting anything that might be considered offensive on the forum.

UKGPL's use of this forum is by the generosity of Dave Gizmo Gymer who provides this facility for many different simracers to use. What a lot of you don't see ( unless you are a moderator ) is the clever backroom systems that allow us to post races/results and the reporting of incidents etc.

Individual offenders could find themselves banned from posting on the forum. But, should Dave find that we do not police ourselves adequately, then  in a worst case scenario UKGPL could find themselves without access to this forum........ and that would make life very difficult for all of us!!!

Just to clarify; swearing is not tolerated in forum posts or race chat. Surely we can find better ways to express ourselves. It's not a great idea in IGOR chatrooms either.
Anyone doing this can expect an immediate race ban and, in the forum, an immediate posting exclusion. If you want to do it in IRC chatrooms fine, just don't expect to do it in UKGPL's. We expect that we are all grown ups and gentlemen here.

PS: and being grown-ups we all know the kind of swearing we mean. A "crap", on occasion, is a necessity, but think carefully before you tread beyond that line.

everybody should watch the replay. he's refusing to get lapped, and when you fight him he shunts. repeatly. purposly. nearly all other drivers complain.
UKGPL should find consequences for that driver.
If i make a report, he will be demoted from 14th to 16th. what a punishment.
thats the real problem.

Next time i lap him i just shunt him, but don't accept any punishment. I've lost 2 places and evil you should have seen it from pole position.

This race has thrown up more than one issue that requires careful attention from the moderating team. We are working behind the scenes and hope to publish our findings before the next round of the F2 season.

We appreciate your patience.

Can i just ask the Question where is the impact of the penalty when the driver scores 25 points for his race ?
also i never see any impact of the penalty points.

You have quite correctly highlighted an issue with demotion of places when we are using mixed grids (Pros and Ams together). The web site demotes a driver from the overall standings (in this case from 14th to 18th) which can affect the net demotion in the Amateurs in a different way depending on how many Pro drivers finished behind the Amateur driver. In this case the driver was demoted 2 Amateur places from 3rd to 5th. This was last place in the Amateurs, so regardless of the mixed grid anomaly he couldn't score less than 25 points for a finish.

Quote
also i never see any impact of the penalty points.
There is a detailed explanation of the Penalty Points (i.e. yellow card) system here. Every 2 yellow card points a driver has above 2 will automatically incur an extra lost place on subsequent penalties and warnings. Two drivers now have 4 yellow card points. That means if they are involved in another incident, they will incur an extra place penalty because of the yellow card points they have accrued.

An example of how this works from previous seasons is here. This involves the same driver so I accept this suggests the Yellow Card system is arguably not a great enough deterrent. However the system only works if incidents are reported and moderated.
