All the best for a speedy recovery from your op Stefan  thumbup1

I could do with some setup help for this one. Had an hour or so testing different aero and diff settings but the Lotus is still an understeering mess for me  Sad

Link to my current setup below - I want a little bit more nose, but should note that you want it understeering a bit and you need to steer with the throttle.
70's F1 is almost incapable of balanced handling due to the daft tire size disparity!

It's part of the reason I picked this track; combine it with the soundmod I linked to and it becomes seriously addictive once you learn the course purely because of the noise of the DFV on over-run Grin

Well I didn't find it too bad, with just a few setup tweeks I got to within 0.5s of Tim's best server time. I felt it had a lot more grip than I expected.

All the best for a speedy recovery Stefan.

I think I was restarting around when you posted this. I'd found it running on our server but not showing in the race lists.
I've just reset it and started the proper race server now

Enjoyed the track and didn't notice any problems with it considering we are using this for the Lambo series. Don't like the Lotus at all, feels like the Karts I used to build when I was a kid from some scraps of wood and old pram wheels. Still, had some good racing with Kimi, Jari and Syd. Well done pody.

In contrast to GT, I loved the Lotus but I am not a big fan of Sachsenring.

I was a bit disappointed I could not match my offline lap times in qually on soft tyres. I noticed everyone was on the hards for the race so thought I better follow suit even though I had not turned a lap on them. In the race I was able to lap just as fast on the hard tyres, so is there any difference? Had a great time chasing Fabri & got to around 2s behind near the end before I had a couple of late spins, fortunately without any serious damage, so happy to finish 3rd.

For those that didn't try it, I can recommend the sound mod, makes a huge difference to the experience.

Congrats to Tim & Fabri.  clap clap

Unfortunately for laziness I had not installed the sound mod. I install it tonight. Too bad, because you tell me it was absolutely great for the driving experience.
As Geoff, I am also a fan of the Lotus 72, but less of tracks like the Sachsenring.

The race was great and this car is always exhilarating to drive. Unfortunately, I didn't spend too much time preparing for the race, having only done about ten laps before yesterday. Tim was simply too fast, but Geoff had a similar pace to mine. Only the luck of being a little more constant allowed me to take second place without having to elbow too much.

In the race I was able to lap just as fast on the hard tyres, so is there any difference?

I need to upload the results tonight to double check - but S-tracker gives my own times as
01:21.982 on softs in qually
&
01:22.355 on hards late in the race (Lap 28)

The main difference is cornering speed and braking, my car was MUCH more pointy on the softs but I suspect it was down on top speed.
Soft also heat up easily so you have to drive smoother while still sitting on the limit of rear grip to overcome the understeer, get it wrong and it'll cost you grip for a lap so after a singe error while the tire cools again.
Don't forget tire life though, the Hards were still green at the end, softs would be hurting after 40 minutes.
In contrast I think my doughnut at the end lasted at least 30 seconds before tire failure from heat and I was regularly drifting into/out of the tighter sections during the race Grin

The lap-time difference between softs and hards is about 0.5 - 1 sec.

The race lap-times with the hards were almost like in qualifying with the softs because the grip of the track has increased.

As Tim said the car behaves slightly differently with the two compounds. With hards I also notice that you have to put in 1 psi more of pressure.

Yeah, that PSI might be where the extra pointyness comes from in the softs - It may not be actual grip so much as simply tire wall flex on the massive rears - that will naturally give greater yaw even before the tire breaks traction.
Down side will be squishier tires and greater rolling resistance, that would back up my feeling that the top speed is lower on softs.
