Moderator's Report

Summary
A festival of slipstreaming eventually saw Bagrupp emerge as the winner with Yannick in a superb second place in the Lancia which was outclassed on the long straights. Enrique picked up third place in another Lancia.

Server replay time: 0h47m22s

Lap 17 – Rettifilo Levante – Bagrupp and Clive Loynes
After an entire race of slipstreaming, overtaking and close racing, Bagrupp, Yannick and Clive start the last lap in close company. Yannick has the lead with Bastian and Clive about 100 metres behind but in the perfect slipstreaming position. Bastian and Clive are nose to tail as they scream past Yanick on the Rettifilo Levante. Bastian passes Yanick on the left and starts to move right just as Clive also makes his move to the right. Bastian notices Clive in his mirrors and moves left again. This catches Clive by surprise, and he loses control and crashes out. There is no contact between the cars.

Bastian was entitled to move back to the right to guard the inside line into Curva Sud once he had cleared Yannick. At the point where Bastian turned his steering wheel, Clive was still visible in Bastian’s left mirror. There was no malice or unsporting intent in Bastian’s manoeuvre.

Clive had a great opportunity to slipstream past Bastian but these cars are a little unstable at high speeds which makes it difficult to change direction quickly. Clive was unfortunate.

Season 39 – 1955 GP - WORKS – Round 2 – Monza 10K

For the second race in the 1955 Grand Prix series we visit the “Cathedral of Speed” in Italy. The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is a race track located near the city of Monza, north of Milan.  Built in the Royal Villa of Monza park in a woodland setting, the circuit has gone through numerous changes over the years.  Perhaps the most striking feature in the park is the steep banked (sopraelevata) curves on the now defunct 10Km variant, first used in 1955.  The original circuit (used between 1922 and 1933) also had an oval section but the banked curves were not as wide or as steep as the later 1955 variant.  The banked circuit was used on four occasions for Formula 1 races; in 1955, 1956, 1960 and finally in 1961 when it was decided that Formula 1 cars were just too fast to be safe on the oval track.   The banked oval section was last used in any capacity in 1969.  From 1962 onwards, the Formula 1 Grand Prix was held on the "road circuit" which by the early 1970s was also deemed to be too fast for Formula 1 cars.  Two chicanes were introduced for 1972 Italian Grand Prix, one at the Ascari curve and another on the approach to the Curva Grande.  Tonight we will relive the dramatic race in 1955 on the full 10Km circuit complete with steep bankings and no chicanes. Have a look at this video (unfortunately no sound) of the 1955 race for inspiration.

Phil, can you revise/clarify my tokens?

If you consider my 1st race with the privateers: 10+10-5(Connaught)=15

If not: 5

So I either wil have 25 or 15 tokes after the +10 for Monza

No, Leo, as you start this series from scratch , we can't move points from Priv.

Yes, every starter starts with 10 tokens, so you can take the most expensive car in the first race Wink

Not my evening, two awful errors at the parabolica , other two mistakes at the curva grande, and the gran finale, a broken engine. I'm really Sorry with Leo and Fulvio, really guys, but i joined  at the last moment with no practice and i hate the SL, so heavy and .... Heavy Lips Sealed. Congrats to the podium guys and to Enrique Who was patient behind me with his Lancia, waiting the right time to Jump ahead.

See you next race !

I have to apologize to Clive, what a nice fight. (also with yannick)
On the last straight i was not seeing you so near and then tried for a moment to close the door by affect, but opened up when i realize its too late.
But you already touched the grass...so its not feeling like a good race. i'm so sorry.

  Congratulations to the podium!
The race was always busy for me, at first following Farina with Doni and his turbo Gordini. Then Farina managed to get the vacuum of a Mercedes and opened up every advantage in the world. In the end I had a good chase to Menegucci but as he was in the vacuum of a Mercedes it was useless for me to get anything. Finally, finishing 6th with a Conaught in Monza is a good size.

Hmmm...  Having just reviewed my replay cap, it would seem that my standard plea of, "Play Nice.  GLA!  Smiley", falls on deaf ears.  Sad

I had a good qualifying and race start, very careful in the first lap, keeping up with the faster cars till Giovanni couldn't stop his merc (don't worry mate, very dificult to judge with the slipstream). That left me probably last.

Loosing the train, it looked like I would have many lonely laps till the end, but it came back to me. Looks like some trouble at the front allowed me to catch the group in front.

Jonny helped by pushing me for some more top speed in the last few laps and in the last Sud Alta I was hugging Fulvio exhaust pipe, pulled aside coming out of the turn and a last dash to the finish line WOW! that was intense  clap

First of all and I am ashamed to say it, ....... Roll Eyes  I could not enter the server, and it was because I was putting the private password ........ my goooodes.... oops
fortunately there is a charitable soul in the forums that deleted my message of help and no one knew anything ................ wheelchair
between missing 20 minutes and I limit myself to get a decent time to classify in view of the bunch of mercedes that there was.
6 place for me and  came out and the only thing I could do to get to the top 5 was hit the butt of one of those Mercedes, and Jonnie thought the same, so we spent several laps, turning very close together.
after an incident in parabolica and I was already 5 but 2 laps later, giovanni who approaches me and passes me, (I said to myself, this is my passport to reach fulvio) since I was far ahead, and so it was, there was no possibility that I could surpass centorame and limit myself to take advantage of his draft to reach polycardi, and that's how it was, great race giovanni, ,,,, clap and thanks for the great help, fulvio tried to surpass me by all possible means but giovanni's draft gave me 274 km / h and I couldn't do it, then the Mercedes spun in curva grande, and that saved me by a miracle but fulvio no .... no. and there I kept in that 4 position, because I knew that it would never reach him Those up front, very, very happy with my race, one of the best in this mod that I have had, and I send a big congratulations to fulvio, giovanni and jonnie for the great battle they gave me, I am very happy with this 3rd place I was not really expecting the podium, unfortunately there was an incident ahead and "inherited" this podium.
Thanks guys, how nice it is to run with professionals,

It was a thirlling race on my part.
I battled the entire race with the streamlined Mercedes. I could easily outclass them on the F1 circuit, but in the ovals they were too much. I might have had slightly short 5th gear as well. Even with tow I cannot get by any of them. Shame about the accident on the back straight on the last lap.

See you next race.
