Wow, what a great race, despite the premature end. I really didn't expect to be on the pace at all tonight as I just got the G25 this afternoon and haven't had time to work out the right settings or get used to it yet. You can imagine my suprise then when I popped in a 1:14.5 in qual to put me clear 3rd on the grid and easily the leading Elan!  Shocked

The race start went without any dramas and I settled in behind the Cobras. The Cobras were very slowly pulling away, while I was pulling a sec per lap over the fastest of the other Elans. That left me on my own and I got bored very quickly and started losing concentration. An overshoot at turn 1 soon cured that and enabled Madd-RIP to close the 7 second gap and edge just ahead of me. We then had a great battle for the next 10 laps or so until the server died.

I still can't believe just how good this G25 is - absolutely miles better than the Sidewinder which wasn't a bad piece of kit itself. Looking forward to getting to know this baby a lot more intimately ;-)

Cheesy Well only reinstalled GTL this evening on my new PC so had no praccy at all, Quali went great for me, beat my pb and was more than happy to get 6th.
Well what can I say about the race, ruddy fantastic! Mark, Pribeiro and Edam and myself all jockeying for position, virtually no contact, apart from some missing paint on my car......(EDAM!)  Grin and we were all trying different lines etc to gain an advantage, I finally managed to squeeze past only to be retaken by Edam and Mark got snagged by a warping pribeiro, most unfortunate.
Pribeiro made a mistake so managed to sneak past then tried chasing down Nevski, and finally got past after he made an error, I then was driving quali laps just to stay ahead of him before the server went pop. Angry
Hopefully if a rerun is done I'll be able to join, I'll be gutted if I'm working as I'll miss such a good race. Grin

Good race while it lasted.
Wanted to go with the Elan, but than decided to take the Cobra in practise. Got pole and had a clean start and than kept it steady - very conservative with my driving and not making a mad dash for it as usually. That kept Ruskus close by and made the race interesting. I had much in reserve for most of the laps though and was intentionaly preserving the tires for the last laps. Too bad these laps didnt come.
As for too hard defending - I never saw a car beside my car - always saw car in the mirror and I took conservative lines into well before the usuall entry, never driving from side to side to block.
As for being faster in the race than me - well dont count your chickens to early. I was taking it easy most of the laps and putting on the pressure for a lap or two in between to get a bit of a gap and than cooled down. So those reduces of gaps were mostly down to me slowing a bit.
Rematch - I would be up for that if needed. Cool

What a corking qually and race session that was !  I was gutted when the server died with 12 laps remaining  :'( it looked like it was going to be action right to the very end.

Qualied a great 4th which i was very pleased with considering the company.   Cool (and that was without going wide at T1..before someone says it  angel, i actually could take it faster by braking early and cutting the very nib of the inside kerb rather than drifting wide.
Had superb battles from the start until (premature) finish, duelling with Nevski, Pribeiro, Madd and Edam in some great tussles. I was having a nightmare with Pribeiro's car though as it was severely warping 2-3 times a lap and i kept slamming the anchors on or taking avoiding action only to find it was a ghost version of the car right in front of me Sad This allowed the names above to gain on me each time, not helped by me outbraking myself twice at turn 2. Also nudged Edam at the same corner and put him into a slow spin (sorry mate...did stop hoping you would pull back across in front of me but it didnt happen).
Was still battling with edam when the server bailed out so that would have been a continuous fight to the end

The cars look fantastic in full detail, i particularly liked the gun metal grey cars of Nevski? and others, with the old fashioned black number plates with silver lettering  Cool  and Sharks Stealth looking Yank job looked ace powersliding through arena too  tt1

I wonder if this was a prelude to the server crash?

Unlikely; Paulo has been a problem connection driver for a while and it's getting to the point where sadly I may have to ask him to withdraw until and unless he can sort his connection out. :'(

The Jolt support forum was also AWOL last night, it's back this morning but no mention of any issues last night  Undecided I have asked.

I think it must have been a network issue, the server is still running GTL.

BTW, it did not go unnoticed that some people were running very wide in T1 during qualifying which explains some of the times which weren't matched by race pace... Yes, Mr Shark, you were one of them! Angry

Actually any time that happened for me in qually and the game didn't give me a warning I was backing off. Most of the time I was hanging on for dear life just to get the car wrestled around the corner and having it (yes it controlled me more than I controlled it laugh) run wide lost me more time than getting it right (the Vette is not exactly a precision instrument  Cool ). You probably can't tell on monitor when a cut warning is given the lap not counted when that happened. I can assure you it was not on purpose. My race pace was faster than my qually so you can't be talking about me anyway.

Unfortunately it has got to the stage where one doesn't want to be near Priberio on the track as his car warps so much.

Oh, excuse me, Mr. Outbrakes-himself-into-T2-on-2-laps-consecutively, taking my doorhandles off! Cheesy Wink I gotta turn in some time you know  Tongue

Was good racing with you guys - very close between the 4 of us Elans, with Nev quite a long way ahead most of the time. I think we all changed places quite a few times. Paulo did have more warp than an episode of Star Trek, and we all hit his ghost on more than one occasion. One time I lost two places because of it. However, we all have connection problems at some point (God knows I have recently), so lets hope it's all fixed for next time thumbup1

I certainly wouldnt want to see Paulo binned because of it, but would also have to say it cost me a heap of time and places last night  Sad

ps, i still think we should have some standing starts now. These cars are perfect for it, it almost seems an anti-climax to start these races with a slow rolling start.
