Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0

Approaching Circle corner Tris is last in a train of 4 cars, Lasse is 3rd. Tristan hits the rear of Lasse's car sending him off track.
Lasse was close behind the leading 2 cars and could not have braked any later without causing an incident, Tris brakes much later than the 3 leading cars but cannot stop and has nowhere to go.
This was Lap 2 and Tris should have been more careful. Lasse did nothing wrong.

The tokens are also shown on the championship page. Just hover you mouse over the championship points total for each driver.

Sorry that I am asking this on such an odd time, but how are the token costs exactly determined?
It seems to me the cost per car isn't entirely accurately representative of the pace, based on the Monster Rank.

To give a few examples, if I look at the top rankings per car, both Lotus and Protos are overpriced while the McLaren M4A and Lola T100 BMW are underpriced.
I could think of a couple more tweaks, but I just want to have this out of the way first.

I understand your concerns Yannick.

I think that this is the first season where we have run the F2's with tokens and it is clear that things are not perfect. ( I doubt they would ever be "perfect")

The biggest problem is that there is very little difference between most of the FVA powered cars in terms of performance. The BMW, Ferrari and Cooper are probably slower and the Matra probably the fastest, but in between I am not so sure?

I think that it would cause too many problems to change the token values after 3 races and the only positive thing is that everyone is using the same system. If there is an advantage to be found in the token rating, then it is there for everyone.

At the end of this season we might ask for opinions on the car values from all who have an opinion about the tokens.

If we run F2's next season things will be different  Wink

Leaving the costs as they are now means that everyone can exploit any deficits of the system in the same way, which sounds fair to me. But I agree very much, the Lotus 48 for example definitely is a midtable car. You know how much of a brilliant driver Jim Clark was, yet he mostly got outdone by the Matra drivers. This is well modeled in this mod.

Okay, I get that. For future seasons, this is what I think might be a realistic balance.

Matra MS7 - 16
Brabham BT23 - 14
Matra MS5   - 14
Lola T100 (FVA) - 14
McLaren M4A - 14
Lola F100 (BMW) - 12
Lotus - 12
Lotus 41B   - 10
Protos 16 - 10
Cooper T84 - 8
Ferrari 166 - 3
Brabham BT14 - 0

Sorry that I missed your post Tom, I was already on the server wrestling with a Matra F2

If you want to have the option of joining in future races just register on the Announcements page. We are running 2 servers for the F2's so there will always be a place available.

Edit::  Just see Dave tried to get you registered for tonight  Undecided. We will sort things so that you can race next time Tom. Good drivers always welcome. We also have space for other sorts too  Roll Eyes

Not my best. Q7 and then I bumped with Evil on T1. That put me at the back of the field. I had a good few laps with Andreas and Alain but Andreas fell off somewhere and left the server whilst Alain drove off into the distance. I had a lonely drive in 7th place with the only fun being a self-induced spin and venture onto the grass on L24.

Grats to podium.

see you next time

Was pleased with my qualifying, a 20.3 in a Ferrari without slipstream. Not so much with the race, on lap 2 I got rear-ended and had a half-spin in the following laps which cost me another 4 seconds, nonetheless I got close to Leo and Tris again only to overdo it at the approach into circle corner which sent me into the wall and bent my steering wheel towards the right. Quickly thought about giving up, but decided to give it another try. Struggled hard for pace at the beginning and had to let Alain through, but then I finally got the hang of how to drive around the issue and had pace ranging from high 20s to mid 21s. Caught up to Alain and overtook him after he had a slight off and was unlucky with lapped cars, then he put heavy pressure on me in the last lap, and in the last corner of the race I somehow lost focus, used too much throttle, understeered into the barrier and lost the position again.

Pleased with my drive considering the circumstances, not so pleased with somebody who kicked me out of the group of leaders very early on. Will definitely try to find time to enter in the upcoming races. Smiley

It seems to me the cost per car isn't entirely accurately representative of the pace, based on the Monster Rank.
The token values were first used in 2014 and all we have done this season is reuse the existing format (it is built into the web site so the tokens are allocated automatically when we import the race results). However, I quite agree the allocation does appear to be less than ideal. We can't change anything mid-season but before we use the F2s again we'll revise the token allocation. Your proposed values look pretty good to me. All the drivers will have the same choices for the rest of the season so whilst the token allocation could be better it is fair and the same for everyone.

I had no pace to race with the top 4 and my targuet was to keep up with Alain.

Clean race start, but Alain had some problem and a lot of atrition with the front guys left me in 3rd for a few corners in sight of the front runners.

Tristan joining back the track was soon filling my mirrors, and you know

I just wave him to pass as I wanted to open the bigest gap as possible to the ones behind.

Alain, was fast getting close but I guess he had some more trouble, while Tristan and Lasse had some more off track excursions around me and the 4th place was settled.

Tough tecnical circuit. A top 4 racing with this competition?! Great!

Grats to the podium guys and all finishers.

Apologies to everyone for my Matra projectile on Lap 1, but it was as if I had a different car from the one that I drove in qualifying??!! I later noticed strange tyre temps on one of my rear tyres and I suspect the small contact with Pete at T1?? No fault of Pete's. That would explain the weird handling through some of the twisty sections, where the car wanted to spin every time I lifted off the gas.
What I could not quite understand was how I was struggling for outright pace, when I had what was supposed to be the fastest car?? At the finish I understood why.... I had enough fuel left in the tank to run the whole 34 laps over again!!!  I think I will call that a self imposed handicap  Sad

I think that the track was good for these cars and it is yet another circuit made available through the Antifreeze Patch  thumbup2

 Wink

Hello everyone

Well done Ziu, Yannick and Tristan.

Not well in the rhythm I am looking for my settings because I have not yet ridden in F2 on this circuit.
At the end of the session I manage to be 5.
I got off to a great start and followed the little train in front of me.
Unfortunately my engine breaks and I lose a lot of places.
At the end of the race, I passed Lasse who was very slow after his accident.
You should have done a reset, right?
At 5 laps from the end I come back to 2 retarded who are fighting together but must ease their feet because I realize that I could not finish the race because of the fuel oil and do a reset.
Lasse behind comes back and passes me.
He spat at the last turn as explained in his summary and I went back just before the line.
We had a great race and well done in Ferrari.

Thank you for the organization and see you soon
