Season 39 – 1967 F1 WORKS Grand Prix – Round 4 – ZOLDER 1967
The fourth race in the 1967 Works Grand Prix series takes us to Zolder in the Belgium. Built in 1963, Zolder hosted the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix on 10 separate occasions in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as the 1980 Belgian motorcycle Grand Prix. F1 moved to Zolder in 1973 and with the exception of a race at Nivelles-Baulers in 1974, Zolder was the location of the Belgian Grand Prix until 1982. That year, Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve was killed during qualifying at the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix. Villeneuve's Ferrari 126C2 collided at speed with the March of Jochen Mass. The Ferrari was torn up in the accident and when rolling, Villeneuve was thrown from the car.

After Villeneuve's death, the Belgian Grand Prix was held at Spa-Francorchamps in 1983, before returning to Zolder one final time in 1984. Fittingly, Ferrari driver Michele Alboreto won the race carrying Villeneuve's #27 on his car. Since 1985, the Belgian Grand Prix has permanently moved to Spa.

I had to start from pits cause a run to bath before start... and lost a lap...not that would have changed anything on the standing, I was dead last and slow, maybe tired from trekking today.  Roll Eyes

If you want finish first you have to finish first.

Congratulations Tristan and Johnny,
Tristan is the No. 1 in the Brabham team and as a first-time guest driver I had to follow the team order in the race  Wink
No, seriously, his speed especially at the beginning of the race was just great! Congratulations, no chance tonight to follow.
When I had a spin (lap8?), I just couldn't get the temperature of my left rear wheel under control, I just carried the BT24 to the finish.  Cool

    Congratulations to Tristan and Uli.
For me the 3rd place was the most I could hope for, keeping ahead of Alain in the first laps was very difficult because Cooper with cold tires was very slow and that was the biggest difficulty at the beginning. I do not know if I was to blame for Alain wasting time on lap 3 , but his mistake made me have some slack and be able to warm up the tires and after 4 laps print the good 1,30s cruise pace .
I had a little better pace than Leo and I had to concentrate on not making mistakes to gain more and more space to manage the podium, Leo's evolution is incredible and next year he will be a strong candidate for the championship.
In the end the Cooper boys had an end to celebrate with the great performance of my friend Doni as well.
   See you next time.

 Smiley

Congratulations to Tristan, Uli and JonnyO  I Am Not Worthy
4 behind JonnyO, I go to the fault all alone like a big one.
It was a great race with Léo, Doni, Syd and Claudio.
At the end of the race, I missed my braking on the bump and got stuck in the fence.
I'm bad  Shocked

Well done everyone and thank you for the organization.  Wink

Zolder is a tough different track, very tecnical. Weird stuff happening with my tire temps and pressure. I was kinda lost here setup wise.

We all had a great start with no incidents looks like. Congratulations to the podium finishers, specialy Jonny with the heavy and fragile Cooper.  thumbup1

In many places here you can overrev the engine sliding around and junping over crests, so I just wanted to stick with a good pace, care for the engine and avoid mistakes.

Goal to reach regular top 5 working. wheelchair

Fine job by our podium finishers especially Jonny in the Cooper.  Out of my league.

I pretty much ran the snot out of my Cooper in trying to keep up initially and then fending off Alain in the Brabham.  He'd fallen off the road early on to end up behind me and for many a lap was measuring me for the pass.  Only just managed to keep the place and later, he disappeared from my mirrors.  Bad luck there, AM.  Was good fun.

Not that I was home-free by any stretch.  My pitboard was advising me that Syd was only a handful of seconds back and I'd noted from qualifying that he was aboard the Ferrari.  It was going to be a tuff slog to stay ahead but as mentioned above, I ran the car hard.  Kept it on the road to nail down a satisfying P5 at the flag.
