Moderator's Report

This was race was packed with incidents. It is a well known track but some drivers struggled with the winged cars on a circuit that is relatively narrow & combinations of mid speed turns. On a busy grid the speed difference between Am and Pro level drivers was more pronounced with the additional hazard of slower drivers being lapped.

Server replay time: 0h01m06s

Yannik gets a good drive out of Tarzan to outdrag Andreas. He is off line on the approach the next corner & tags Leo from behind as Leo moves across, following the racing line. There was no overlap so Yannink has to take responsibility for the contact. Andreas cannot avoid running into the accident.

Server replay time: 0h18m06s

Dace C spins off on the exit to Pulleveldt. The field of view is quite limited where the track curves away. Dave reports he checked Pribluda reading before before attempting the rejoin but underestimated the approach speed of Tristan & Ziu. Dave takes take out the two lead cars. Dave attempts to abort the rejoin when he saw Ziu's car but the verge on the left is quite narrow and difficult to navigate across.

This series is just too fast for me.

I'm having accidents just trying to stay out of the way.

Apologies to Bastian. I started braking extra early into Tarzan but still ran into the back of you. Maybe I could have taken a wider line.

A couple of laps later I ran into someone else's accident & that was enough.

I do like this track but 1.25's wasn't cutting it.

np. i had a messy race as well...afer that incident i oversaw a lotus lapping me ! sorry, and all other icidents. i really think i suspend myslef, don't know i an't handle 68 cars
Bastian did you have a snake in your cockpit when I lapped you at braking for Tarzan?  Shocked Grin

ja, it seemed like...the car is so sensitive, i don't understand...it starts to swerve around so suddenly. i think i can drive. or is 68early mod even more difficult then 67 originals ?

Bastian... don't give up. I find these 68 cars way easier than the original 67s. Would you like me to share some of my 68E Zandvort setups with you?

What a race  Grin

I usually start like a container ship but my BT26 leapt ahead of Yannick to go from 6th to 4th before T1. I missed GC's incident and was happily chasing Uli until my Repco V8 went bang on the home straight as I started L6. Damn! This let Yannick through. So, from 8th place after a re-set, battle commenced with Phil and Alain. Wow! What fun. Chasing the pair of Lotus cars was awesome. I'm not sure what happened to Alain but I was helped by some spinning back-markers which made PT have to slow down a bit. I finally made a move on Phil on L19 but I was too hasty and turned in too soon at T1. I apologised in the chat after the race but I'll apologise again. Sorry Phil, my fault entirely. You were in my blindspot and I moved in too soon. I did do the gentlemanly thing though and wait for you to catch up and regain the place. I hope that this goes some way to make amends?

Then push push push to the end... I made the same move on Phil stick a few laps later but then threw it away in the wire fencing at the hairpin. Tom came to join the fun and then push push push again. Very hard work keeping up. I was happy with 5th slot but Tom went wide on T1 on the very last lap allowing me to sneak through. I could hear the swearing from here Tongue It nearly all went wrong on the last corner when Tom and I encountered a spinning Dave Curtis. I had to put out the anchors to slow down, Tom bounced off my gearbox but we made it through unscathed. A super close chase to the line...

Thanks to all.

I found Ferrari default setup with 8/10 wings and 55% front brake quite good and stable. Zandy si one of my fav track, too bad I had a trekking in the sand and ended on my head and had to reset loosing a couple of positions.

Neither the cars have wings in the graphice nor i can set them (usually above the gear ratios)
that would explain much, but how could that happen ?? and i thought wings came up late in 68...

Fun race despite getting caught up in the first lap Gerlach disaster. After the crash I was chasing Doni when Giovanni and Andreas caught up. Decided to let Giovanna and Andreas pass rather than have pressure from behind while dicing with Doni. Shortly after that they had and incident in Hugenholtz allowing me back in front. Next I caught up to Billy and Dave who driving well when I was dicing with them. Then I hooked up with Fulvio, Pete and Phil for many laps of close racing, before running off at Tarzan on the last lap. Got back on track and gave chase to Pete, hoping to make a run on him going down the start finish straight. Very glad I didn't crash Pete when I bumped him going into the final corner. Thanks for the fun racing all!

Grats to our podium winners!  Well done, chaps.

A P11 finish quite satisfying for me in the BT26 as I refuse to aero.  It's the bane of proper motorsports.

Starting at the back, the assorted shunts ahead on Lap01 had me up a bunch of places straightaway.  It was fun trying my best to hold off the much faster cars in the twisties and take advantage of the zero aero drag on the pit straight to stay ahead.  This worked for a number of laps against challengers especially the unfortunate Giovanni in the Ferrari.  He made repeated assaults only to come up empty as I could reach Tarzan with enough in hand to prevail.  Ultimately, he found the chink in my armour and made the pass to disappear into the distance in short order.  Was fun while it lasted.

Yesterday I must chose the Lotus 49 because this car made F1 history in Zandvoort, he belong to Zandvoort – handling felt good too but yesterday it was the wrong choice for winning this race - no chance against the bloddy fast Ferraris - great speed guys!
Except my the accident in the Tarzan, when I could not avoid a Lotus standing in full width in the middle of the road, so I went back from P2 to P4. My second mistake (find the wrong gear) in the Scheivlak, when I just had closed the gap to Yannick, costs P2 but my race was fine – I saw the checkered flag. Great that we have again such a full grid!
Grats to all lapped, except (not realy) for the situation in the Tarzan Wink – that‘s racing, nP.
I am looking forward to Rouen, where I often had close races.
Congratiulation to Ziu and Yannick and big THX to you Billy one of our best admins.

Bastian - as far as understand the 4 cars available at Zandvoort have wings. (Group II, II & IV don't). The set up function is the same as 69X - you can change the front & rear wing elevation on the same page as the gear ratios. The function is there for all 68E cars, but only enabled for the Group I cars.

I must apologize with everyone for T1 crash, i watched  the replay and i found i must have hit some ww2 mine buried in the tarmac, as my car flew off with no apparent reasons in the middle of Tarzan. Someone could check the replay to confirm this behaviour?
I've checked the server replay and it looks like warp contact to me. The latency is critical at the start of the race because so many cars are close together. So it is always wise to leave a little bit extra distance to the car ahead and to make sure you are extra wide if you are on the outside of the first turn.  I think you were just a little unlucky Giovanni. A car will invariable warp towards the outside so being on the outside is always risky. Thank you for the apology but I don't think many drivers suffered from your mishap. It was turn 2/3 that was the bigger problem.

Thanks for waiting Pete. We are even. You actually had won the corner (you had 100% overlap at turn-in) but that doesn't mean you can cut across. For future reference drivers should stay on their own side of the track until it is safe to move across (as in this similar but not exactly the same  example). I picked the inside line because I expected you to attack. I figured it was safer on the inside because if you got it wrong and out braked yourself, you wouldn't take me out if you were on the outside. You drove really well, I'm having trouble keeping up with you Wink

The wings and graphics don't always align. My Lotus 49 didn't have wings in the graphics but I could certainly set the wing angles. The settings were above the gear ratios for me, just as you have said.
