Moderator's Report

This was race was packed with incidents. It is a well known track but some drivers struggled with the winged cars on a circuit that is relatively narrow & combinations of mid speed turns. On a busy grid the speed difference between Am and Pro level drivers was more pronounced with the additional hazard of slower drivers being lapped.

Server replay time: 0h01m06s

Yannik gets a good drive out of Tarzan to outdrag Andreas. He is off line on the approach the next corner & tags Leo from behind as Leo moves across, following the racing line. There was no overlap so Yannink has to take responsibility for the contact. Andreas cannot avoid running into the accident.

Server replay time: 0h18m06s

Dace C spins off on the exit to Pulleveldt. The field of view is quite limited where the track curves away. Dave reports he checked Pribluda reading before before attempting the rejoin but underestimated the approach speed of Tristan & Ziu. Dave takes take out the two lead cars. Dave attempts to abort the rejoin when he saw Ziu's car but the verge on the left is quite narrow and difficult to navigate across.

Season 39 – 1968 EARLY – Round 4 – Zandvoort

Welcome to the first full season of the 1968 Early Mod – when racing cars evolved to grow wings. We will be using a selection of tracks from the original 1968 season. For each race drivers will be able to select from a group of 4 cars that have relatively similar performance levels.

There is no handicapping.

The fourth round will take place at the Zandvoort Circuit in the Netherlands. The actual 1968 race was won by Jackie Stewart in the Matra. Chris Amon started on pole.

The car set is Group I (these are all winged cars)
Ferrari 312
Lotus 49
Brabham BT26
McLaren M7A

Full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please read the season 39 general rules on the championship standings page.

Please read the specific rules for 68 series on the 1968 Early championship standings page.

Is it just me, but there appears to be a bunch of morons standing across the main straight?
The block on the right side of the track seems a lot more on-track when heading towards it too.

Yikes!  Seems it's just you, DC.  Send me a PM with an up-close screenshot and I'll see if I can identify and block out the offenders.  Not hard to do once I can isolate the group.

I've just checked my installation and the 68E cars are fine for me at Zandvoort. If Doni's fix doesn't work I can zip up my Zandvoort directory and you can try that if you like.

Just after midnight UK time.  File sent to DC via email.  Hope it works.  Let me know if there are others that need to be eliminated.

This series is just too fast for me.

I'm having accidents just trying to stay out of the way.

Apologies to Bastian. I started braking extra early into Tarzan but still ran into the back of you. Maybe I could have taken a wider line.

A couple of laps later I ran into someone else's accident & that was enough.

I do like this track but 1.25's wasn't cutting it.

Also adding apologies for the race.

I had a few bumps/misunderstandings. When it goes wrong, it seems to unfold/happen very quickly with the 68s - or maybe particularly so here with the fast-flowing, funnel-nature of the track & a field of fast chaps.

I went off at the last corner. I specifically checked pribluda & it seemed ok, but to my horror a couple of cars appeared unexpectedly.  Maybe I just could not decode the red text on black background in time (everything else is clear enough). I've now adjusted the leader/lapping car colour to a brigher orange.

The race just became unenjoyable, trying to let cars past cleanly every lap or so.

I must apologize with everyone for T1 crash, i watched  the replay and i found i must have hit some ww2 mine buried in the tarmac, as my car flew off with no apparent reasons in the middle of Tarzan. Someone could check the replay to confirm this behaviour?
