Roll Eyes  You'd think I'd learn .... it's not normally a problem .... only when I've forgotten to sort out the scheduling etc ......

and when the leader came through to lap me I quite nicely let Jonzo past thinking he was 2nd!!!!

oh thats what you was doing Adam,  Roll Eyes.... looked to me like you was cutting the grass for the nice Japanese men  Tongue  Wink Cheesy

Hows this for commitment, spent 1.5 hours racing at Kyalami in the F1 '79 race over at R2p (finished 5th angel), then jumped straight into qually here !....must have raised some eyebrows when i tried driving down the pitlane the wrong way for qually laugh as i hadnt turned a single lap here Shocked

Then even worse, i got a phone call i had to take with 5 mins remaining of qually and had to start and complete the first 6 laps of the race with one hand holding the steering wheel and the other holding a phone to my ear, with the game sound turned off !! Shocked helpsmilie

Once that was out the way, i could finally get to grips with the track and had a great several lap battle with Martin Blunder and his extra wide cortina Wink...i tried every conceivable attack line at every corner to get past, but fair play he drove a great defensive fight. When i finally got past i then set a series of 3 quickish laps to close right up on Adam in 9th/10th and got past him while he went daisy cutting Grin
But alas the early phonecall and battles left me too far behind PR and Tinman? in 7th and 8th and i had to settle for 9th.

Didnt like the track at all in daylight, but thought it was excellent in the dark and very atmospheric. Reminded me of watching stock car/banger racing under the floodlights as a kid tt1
Enjoyed myself despite the result.  Good choice gents.  Cool

Grin Really enjoyed that, Mike was just too fast and consistent for me to make any impression and Baracus and I had a damn good scrap for a good while before I went wide and he nipped inside of me.
I couldn't really keep up that easily and started dropping back in to the  headlight glare of my nemesis Assassino!! Cheesy
Finally managed to stabilise my laptimes a bit then just concentrated on trying not to make any Major errors and keep my tyres in some sort of circular shape!
Then a gift, Baracus had spun in fast chicane and I was able to keep in front of what looked like a good old scrap for 3rd.
Finished a very lucky 2nd and am well pleased, congrats to the winner, Mike and to 3rd Baracus.

PS A good track for these cars, especially at night, very atmospheric and brings back memories of GT 4!

37 hard laps in a small circuit, i enjoyed the fact we raced at night time, the cars were very close and the race for me was always defend and atack, had a nice battle with mooman117 right till the end, i finished 4th and lost the podium very close to the end to my teammate Baracus.

Long live GTL

Thanks.  Grin

Phew, I had butterflies all the way through.

I might have done the pre-race gathering lap (whaddayacallit) a little slow, I thought it better then the other way around. Wasn't sure how fast it should be done, but I have a feeling engaging the pit limiter halfway down the back straight might have been a little excessive

I got away good and saw Madd-RIP and Baracus fight for position, which was really good news for me!

Some laps down Bara started to close in and I was getting worried for a bit. He didn't know my secret weapon though! I had his Alfa settings from a Silverstone race a while ago, and they worked like a charm  Grin

He pushed me to my best lap of the race, but then he disappeared, and I was scared I had caused something or that there was a mandatory pitstop I had forgotten about. Analyzer shows the gap was down to 0.7 seconds at one point, but my pitboard kept jumping from 13 to 17 to 19 to 13 seconds gap to 2nd. Bloody unreliable it is.

A couple times the game sort of froze for a fraction of a second, and I hope I wasn't lagging, and I especially hope that I did not leave a stationary car for Bara to hit, like I've seen happen to others in public servers? My fps never went below 42, so I think that should have been enough?

Anyway, I sure am happy with the race result, should it have come without incidents caused by lag.

I'm flying high among the clouds right now, but I am looking forward to being violently returned to the ground next time I race aliens
balloon alien    I think there'll be a :pop: sound.

HAHA yeah seen that battle !!! incredible !! I let you guys fight and looked from behind, waiting for Martin to make a fault.. until I get punted by a lapper  Lips Sealed Angry

Then Martin must have been done a fault so I could reach him, and then with 3 laps to go I waited.. until he did a spin, too bad, cause the racing was great.. I just had to keep him behing 3 laps, and I knew how to do it, I watched him some laps before  LOL  Grin

Good racing  Wink

That was serious fun. Really hard to get in a good position for a safe pass - once with cars of a simliar pace the only option is pressure games and dummies, trying to force a mistake, which is totally what I love about GTL!!

Made a silly mistake when I lost concentration for a bit when chasing Hammer (and was pushing too hard) but managed to fight back with a great scrap with Simon, Mooman, Assassino and Madd along the way.

Great drive Hammer Sir! You totally deserved that one!
I had the same problem with my gap readout on the pit board - for the second race in a row :/

Loved the night time too, more of that!! Cheesy

Had a great evening, managed to push a bit harder than my last race, and even managed to keep one car behind me on the track. Getting a bit more confident in these cars, so it's going the right way, but still haven't found the best way/place to let lapping cars by.

Enjoyed the race overall. Was running as high as P3 but lost a few places later on. Made a couple of mistakes under braking and I think I caused a bit of a small collison about 1/2 way through. Not sure who else was invloved but sorry. I seemed a bit slow on straight line speed, maybe should have taken the middle instead of shortest gear box, may have helped with traction out of the slow corners.

Anyway good track choice (except for the flashing textures). The shorter twisty tracks do seem to keep the field together a bit better. Looking forward to Misano now.

You did very good when I passed you.

Just stay on your line, the lapper is responsible to make a clean pass..  (what some don't know it seems  Lips Sealed )
Just go out the line if you are sure you can handle your car in another line, or slow down on a straight so the faster car pass easily.
The best thing is for sure to stay on your line.

Had a great evening, managed to push a bit harder than my last race, and even managed to keep one car behind me on the track.

I too was fooled by my inconsistent pit signals.  They told me you were over 10 secs behind so I drove steady and moved over to let you pass with the overtakers.  I was stunned.  After that I kept in touch, with a visual of you appearing/disappearing as our lap times varied.

Thanks Fred, that's about what I did, but I'm not sure where I lost the most time; when holding line in turns or when slowing on straights. I think I find it best to just get out of the ideal racing line on straights and brake a bit early.

And Bill, I know you did let me by as you though I was lapping you. But I feel if I had you in front I was going to get by anyway, but as you were behind and I had no one in front I had not much to push for, so therefor I made many mistakes.
