This is not a registration poll. I am merely trying to assess how many entrants we would be likely to get for various championship formats.

I'm currently thinking about reclassifying current NGT cars as follows:
GT2: 911 RS/RSR, 360 GTC/Modena, M3, Toledo, 996 BiT
GTC: 350Z, Morgan, Mosler, TVR

Not sure what to do about the Vertigo. If we push it down into G3 it will probably have to have a weight penalty added compared to the other (current) G3 cars. Possibly the current G3 cars will become GT3 and the Vertigo will become a lone G3 non-scoring car.

If the G3/GT3 cars are to form a championship we will need some additional test races to set the ballasts properly.

If a GT2/GTC combined sprint appears to be favourite, it may have two championships, a combined one in which all cars will score, and a GTC-specific one as a 'championship within a championship' so that the slower cars have something to race for amongst themselves. The GT2 cars will lose enough of their current ballast to be 'centered' around 0kg and the GTC cars will gain enough to be similarly centered around 0kg.

GT1 won't gain any new cars (we'll revisit that if and when the DBR9 is released) but there will be some small adjustments to the ballasts.

Endurance will remain on Sunday nights and Super Endurance, if it goes ahead, will probably be once a month and have approximately half the number of races of the other championships, with the 'spare' Sunday night becoming non-championship Academy races for new drivers.

If you would prefer Super Endurance to Endurance, vote for the former. Don't worry about the frequency of events. If we don't get a reasonable number of votes for Super Endurance it isn't going to happen!

Dave, given that the super endurance is only once a month and is likely to be less well attended, could that not be handled outside the poll rather than taking up one of the 2 votes for those who want it?

It could, but it's only a toe in the water and if I don't restrict the choices somewhat and force people to think about what they actually want we'll end up with most people voting for everything.

Only 2!  I'm very interested in going for the GTC/GT2 and GT1 sprints .... and both endurance races.

I think having the split classes in the sprints will encourage people to stick with a car rather than swapping (M3 to TVR), which is good in my eyes.

That said, rather than relegating the Vertigo, I'd rather see it in with the GTC cars.  Sure, it might be outclassed on some circuits, but it excels on others and is a more controllable option for newer drivers.  I think removing a car isn't the way forward.

Yes, I understand Dave. Just thought that the super endurance is a bit different from all the other and might be seen a special case.

I agree about putting the Vertigo into GTC, perhaps with a ballast reduction as in season 4?

It's quite possible. We'll need some test races with the current ballasts and some without any I think. Even then it's going to be guesswork. laugh

I voted GT2/GTC sprint for my NGT kicks, and Endurance 80 minutes for my GT thrills Smiley. I'd rather race 2 hours, but that's only once a month. Other than that, it's a shame only 2 options are allowed, as that will probably give smaller grids.

I would have thought these are preferred selections, I bet the registration will be open to all as before.

I think what Dave has in mind is that you can only be full time in 2, but a reserve in several others. Is that right Dave?

Same for me, I'm interested in the super endurance but there's no contest when the races are more infrequent.

GT2/GTC Sprint and 80 minute Endurance for me please...

I'd also be interested in the Super Endurance...

I have an idea for the spare Sunday:

How about a 16 race, 1 make championship where each venue has a different choice of car.

E.g.
Donnington - TVR
Imola - Ferrari 360
Hochenhiem - Porsche Cup

This would lead to close racing, and it would never get dull due to the constant car changes...

Just a thought  Tongue
