Btw, anyone else have a very weird sounding Mercedes? From the outside, in replays, it sounds normal, but from the inside, it's like two different engine noises are mixed together. One of them sounds like a vague version of the Merc SLR. Dunno if it's another file mixup.
Not me Guv, my Merc sounded fine. And I've not touched the sound files, honest.
Go to your Sounds folder and within you should have a folder called AMG_6,8l_SEL
I do have that folder.
Weirdly, I just looked at my hotlap replay with the Merc, and here it sounds fine from the inside (as fine as the dull default Merc sounds can be). Will have to try driving it again, to see if the issue repeats itself then.
Regarding the tyre files. In my LM55 folder, I have folders for the (UKGTL) Aston & Ferrari. Each has the correctly dated .tyr files and no other. However, the LM55 folder also has folders for those two cars without the (UKGTL) suffix, from my previous installations of these cars. These have older .tyr files, so it seems the game gets the files from there instead of the (UKGTL) folders. Sorting wise, the 'original' folders comes before the UKGTL ones, so depending on what the game is looking for, it maybe finds these first.
Merc is a little different: In the GTC-65 folder, I have a 'Mercedes 300SL' folder. It contains sub folders named 'SL_LM 55' & 'SL_LM 55 (UKGTL)' respectively. The UKGTL one has the Dunlop_VM2.tyr file, the non UKGTL one has no .tyr files at all. Don't recall seeing any tyre choices for the Merc. Regarding sound; the UKGTL folder contains a Mercsounds.aud file, as does the main 'Mercedes 300SL folder'. The non UKGTL folder has a MercSounds.aud.disabled file. Seems I will have to experiment with these if the problem persists.
