Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops: Not required

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Driver's must complete over 50% race distance to score points.

Generally not crazy about the later iterations of Silverstone, but with the right car, this is prob. one of the best.  The Escort was great fun hurling around here; just wish the damn place wasn't so bumpy!

Races were tough, and not made easier by being weakened by COVID-19.  In race 1, I managed to sneak ahead of Geoffers at the start. That marked the start of an intensive battle, lasting 2/3 of the race.  Around lap 9-10, Geoffers finally squeezed past at Stowe, only to toss it away same place next lap, when he ran wide, allowing me to nip back in front.  Got a bump from him going into Club, prob. had dirt on his tyres, but about 200% opposite lock prevented me from spinning.  Slowed Geoff though and gave me a 5-sec gap.  It would drop by about a sec on a good lap from him, so with 5 laps to go, things were looking tight.  Did jump back to 5 secs after a couple of laps, so he must have lost time somewhere, giving me a breather and allowing me to hold onto 2nd.

Got a good start in race 2, gaining a couple of places.  After the first lap, I was looking for a way around Tony outside at Copse, while Geoffers was lining up a move on my outside  Shocked  Found myself in a Tony-Geoff sandwich going into Maggots, with me the loser, and Geoff the big winner, gaining two places.  Later that lap, Tony got out of shape at Club, letting me slip past.  Passed Clive next at Stowe, keeping a very tight line so I wouldn't force him off.   Caught up to Dan after a few more laps. Got caught out by his braking at Club and pretty much forced to make a move up the inside, to avoid hitting him.  Visually I got the merest hint of contact, but felt absolutely nothing, so concluded it was at most a light shoulder rubbing and carried on.  Replay however shows his car making a violent jump to the right, momentarily leaving the track.  Apologies for that Dan; I really should have waited, but wasn't aware in the moment.  Geoffers was gone by then, but I kept pushing as hard as I could, for the off chance he might make a mistake.

Grats to Daz for victory in race 1 and commiserations for missing race 2, grats to Geoffers for race 2.

Sorry for missing race 2 guys, I'm afraid my son was a total pleb and left his phone at home, which meant my 15 minute job ended up taking 1 hr 45 minutes.....

Race 1 - Genuinely didn't know where the lap came from in quali, none of the other quali laps were anywhere near it. Due to this, I thought I would be under pressure in the race from both Geoffers and Erling, and due to this I went flat out from the start and hoped the tires would forgive me. Which they did, no real wear to report. Eventually towards the end of the race I did manage to find the right lines to repeat my quali times, all good.

Much like Erling, this is possibly my favourite version of Silverstone, although I actually like the bumps in that section after the run through Bridge, makes it feel like you are on the edge every lap! My vision was getting slightly blurred at times though, maybe they are a bit too violent  lol

Great combo Tony, this car is mega I think, easy to go fast, but to get that last bit of pace out of it is much trickier.

Hope the covid goes away quickly Erling.

My feelings on Silverstone are a bit mixed. I actually like all the layouts to drive, just detest the 70s version in  GTL because it is so unrepresentative of the actual track. From a real life spectating point of view it is easily the worst track in Britain now.

The two races were pretty much as Erling described. Took me several laps to find a way past Erling in race 1, & when I did I promptly threw it away by only changing down one gear into Stowe instead of two & predictably ran wide onto the grass. Sorry for the bump at the next turn Erling, fortunately you saved the ensuing slide while I ran onto the grass & lost more time. May have been able to catch Erling again but ran wide at Copse a couple of laps later & lost 2-3s. Grats to Daz on the win & Erling in 2nd.  clap clap

Made a better start in race 2 but then threw away the places I gained by running wide at Copse again! After that everything went swimmingly, highlighted by the double pass on Tony & Erling. Once I had pinched the lead from Dan I settled into a nice rhythm & reeled off several laps in the 1.47s, never got below 1.48 before. Grats to Erling & Dan on the podium.  clap clap Shame Daz had to miss race 2.  Sad
