Season 39 1967F2 – Round 10 – Amateurs - Snetterton

For the final round we are at Snetterton in the UK. Like Silverstone, Snetterton was originally an RAF airfield (RAF Snetterton Heath), which after a short time hosting the USAF, fell into disuse in 1948. The standard runway layout is similar to Silverstone but the peritracks are different which has fortuitously resulted in a different track layout to Silverstone. The vast stretches of tarmac were first used for motor racing in 1953 when the Snetterton Combine (an association of clubs in Norfolk and Suffolk) organised a motorcycle race. The first automobile race was organised by the West Essex Car Club and was held on 14th August 1954. The International Trophy Meeting hosted a variety of classes with Reg Parnell winning the Formula 1 event in a Ferrari 625. Paddock Bend was revised in 1965 and it is this "1967" layout we are using.

I thought that I had created the event via LM2 originally, but it appears that I must have missed something in that process. Updated now and the pword should be visible to all.

Hi all.

After what seems like ages my wayward PC had been rebuilt and ready to rumble... had it on test for 3 days without problems,  but alas hooked it up to the rig to try and make one last race before the season finishes to find it won't boot up properly.

My fault really as I have all new parts to build a new PC but being a bit miserly I was hoping I could resurrect the old girl.. but I think the issue with the expiring PSU may have damaged the motherboard..

Anyway, just popped on line to say have a great race tonight lads. and I will hopefully see you for some fun races over the festive season.

Many thanks to all the organisers of our brilliant league and to the guys that provide all our servers etc.

Take care and have a lovely Christmas and a happy New year.

See you all next season..  I really hope we run the F2s and 65s again.

Hi Paul,
Glad to have you back - in spirit at least.

A very uninspiring end to the season. I couldn't hold on to the tail of the front 4 cars and was slowly but steadily dropping  back. Running on my own for a dozen laps the interest levels dipped until I made a mistake, another mistake and another. Decided to park up the car at that point.

That was a fast front row!

Congrats Philippe on the win.  You seemed to be a ghost-driver tonight. Your car was dissapearing, then showing as behind on Pribluda then appearing up ahead.

Congrats Eric on the championship.  Apologies for the tap/spinning you around under braking towards the end. Wouldn't have been right to take the place, so hung around & that also permitted Mr Ranier through too.

We then had a few frantic laps towards the end.  I lost traction by going wide at the last corner, which probably surprised Mr R right behind me.   Thanks for offering me the place back,  but you would have passed me anyway - so pushed you you over the line Smiley

Thanks all.

Cheers,
Dave.
