what a cracking combination of cars, superb graphics, great daytime settings (nice one Simon Cool ) and a challenging track layout  thumbup1

and such a shame that we cannot get good grid turnouts.  :'( Mind you, 15 runners was pretty good but about 6 seemed to drop out within the first 5 minutes  no  :'(
Was hoping for some cracking 70's race action but everyone just seemed to bin it or give up early or have connection problems.  Sad
I think the only guy i got to race on track was Bernie in the fantastic looking Legends Capri.

The vista was stunning as you came around some of the cambered turns with that dusky skyline and cool looking cars. Had great fun in my tail happy Martini 911, but still swore at it a few times when the back end would break away at the most ludicrous times, and yet feel fabulous doing long power slides through other corners.

Brought it home a good steady 5th?  8)despite a couple of last lap excursions that cost me a heap of time  Embarrassed
A packed grid would have been awesome here.

I think i mentioned this at the last race, but doesnt anyone think these races are just a bit too long with the lower turnouts and effort required just to keep the cars on track ? I would rather the races were half hour or even 2x20 min races. As soon as the meagre field spreads out it gets a little dull and lacking in action whereas a shorter race might bunch us up more and entice other drivers along.

 Wink My earlier narkiness wasn't so much about the incident Simon,(thanks for waithing btw) but more about havin a car after the effect that drove like an Astra VXR, oodles of grunt but naff all turn in or front end grip! Also after I went off on my own I ended up the other side of the barriers so...pretty much game over.
If I'd not ended on the Dark side  Tongue  I would have continued but usually you cannot get back on track.
Shame, as it looked like it would have been a doozy of a race!

Guys,

Thanks for a great race, my Beemer wasnt fast (or was that me) but she sure was reliable and I got home in 7th  Grin Still have a lot to learn, but I did have bags of fun, and the car felt like it was handeling better towards the end of the race, but that could have just been me getting used to the car/track combo.

Well done to the front runners, some brilliant consistantly fast pace.  Cheesy

Joined the 'Lost Connection' boys on the countdown for the race. Damn annoying to do practice and qualifying and not get to race. Is it me, or do the disco's, lost connections, lobby going down seem to be getting worse?

That was a fun race at an excellent track.

First few laps were steady, with Baracus right behind me. Then started to squeeze the pace a bit but this gave some erratic laps - I'd gain a small lead on Baracus, then give it all up on the next lap. Then, around mid-race, a stupid error saw me spin - my little finger caught the shifter paddle knocking me into first gear, causing back tyres to lock and spin my on the spot. I kept going (in reverse!), but the flip-spin to get forwards again saw me on the grass. Credit to Baracus for avoiding anything metallic in the the smoke Smiley.  I rejoined, and across the Start line again I was 9 seconds behind. Very soon afterwards, I part-spun having cooked the rear tyres, and now the gap was nearer 18 seconds and I was behind Pribeiro.

Pribeiro's mistake saw me back into second, and for a couple of laps I could set about reducing Baracus's lead - it was coming down at about 0.5 to 1 second a lap, not enough to catch him, but at least I could keep some pressure on Wink

Then, another mistake - this time into the 3rd-gear left hander after the blind flat-out bends. I braked to hard entering the bend, locked the fronts and ran wide on to the gravel and bashed the front against the barrier. I rejoined, and had Simon in front and Pribeiro ahead. I could catch and follow Simon, but couldn't get close enough for a pass until around lap 20, when I got good drag into T1 and squeezed through on the inside.

And so it finished, with Baracus a fair way ahead, and Simon breathing down my neck!  Great fun.

See you all next time!

Apologies to Baracus for misjudging your speed/commitment to line, expect you had a laugh when you saw me waiting in the kitty litter at the next corner for you to pass - actual I lost concentration looking for you in the mirror and outbraked myself.   oops

Had a lonely race after the first couple of laps - no one in sight until about lap 16 when I saw a 906 closing on me, tried without success to pick a nice spot to be overtaken moved left to give Baracus a clear run into the bend with above result.  About 2 laps from the end I saw the 2nd and 3rd behind me, managed to do it right that time moved to the right and backed off on the start/finish straight.  Other than that an uneventful drive.  In the absence of some of the faster drivers and accidents, I quess, only the Podium drivers lapped me.  A first.   Grin

Can't make next week see you Thursday week.

For those having graphics FPS issues, if you haven't already tried these, some of these tweaks can make a MASSIVE difference...

Open up your .plr file for GTLegends and do the following:
Data Acquisition In Race="1" ---->change value to "0"

Driver Animations="1" ---->change value to "0"

Trackside Characters="1" ---->change value to "0"

Disable All Character Anims="0" ---->change value to "1"

LOD Multiplier Multiplier="1.00250" ---->change value to "0.99000"

Arms Visible In Cockpit="1"  ---->change value to "0"

Windscreen dirt buildup="1"  ---->change value to "0"

Swaying Trees="1"  ---->change value to "0"

In game graphics settings:
Using “Very Far” draw distance is not much of a FPS killer but better use "Normal" draw distance, it's more than enough and definitely keeps FPS much more stabilized (less variation of FPS around the track).

"Track detail" can be a FPS killer if it's on FULL, decrease it to HIGH or MEDIUM.

Using shadows in MAX is another FPS killer, HIGH or MEDIUM is the best option.

"Special Effects" in HIGH or FULL will kill quite some game speed, reduce them to MEDIUM or LOW.

"Headlight Effects" in HIGH or MEDIUM will kill FPS with headlights on. Reduce to LOW effects essentially makes headlights only draw on track rather than other cars, but will increase FPS with headlights on massively.

Cheers Simon, looks like I had the wrong settings for most of those things. Hopefully my venerable P4 2.0 Ghz with 768mb of RD ram and a GT6600 agp card will be able to cope a bit better from now on  Cool
