Championship standings HERE

Grid/server capacity: 22

Car/Track download available by pm to WT

Track: Daytona (Road Course) 1985-2001

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (24 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops required: YES

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

How are you supposed to join/rejoin the track from the pits here - go straight out at the green light just before the left hand corner, or stay in the inside pitlane left of the barrier and enter track after the corner?

I would say do not rejoin the track immediately but take the pit lane road instead.

IMPORTANT

The pit lane exit is the most leftest lane of tarmac at the end of the pit lane. Do NOT exit directly on to the race track. There will be a penalty for any driver who fails to do this  nono (3 places lost "Bad Rejoin").

Also if you are pitting in, move to the left of the race track and show a "Slowing to Pit" message, if there are cars near you.

Unfortunately I have to miss this one due to a long term blood pressure measurement,
which hampers me while driving (general health decline due to two years of pandemic  Tongue )

Cut track warning system ruining my evening  censored

Had practiced the start a 100 times and knew exactly how many revs to use, but still the engine bogged down completely and I lost a lot of places.  Was behind Fulvio, and having to take evasive action for fear of hitting him earned me two warnings in first 2 laps.  Got past when he made a mistake, but then lost the rear in the chicane and got the 3rd warning and thus S/G.  Served it, losing at least a minute with the in/out stretch, for infractions that at best gained me 1 second - something fundamentally out of proportion here.

On the out lap, same thing happened; lost the rear in the chicane and promptly got another S/G - why the h... don't you get 3 more go's Huh    Quit in disgust.

I like the car. It feels like it always wants to wreck itself given half the chance and you have to be very smooth with braking into tight turns.

Mind you I have had the chance to tinker with the setup and maybe that helped me.

Do not recommend running on worn tyres though. Lost so much time dealing with spins during the final two/three laps of the race and let Dimitar catch and pass me.

This car in my opinion has only pone problem. And that's the tires. They are just going off too quickly. The car is hard but fun to drive and control.
EDIT: No worries Dan, it happens.

Grats to Ziu and the podium and of course all those who finished the race.

My reason for quitting early was partially self inflicted. The car was indeed a handful, at least with the setup that I was trying to control!! I had only installed this series and set up the dedicated GTL install during the afternoon, so with a few laps to prove that all was OK I arrived for the race somewhat unprepared.
A few tweaks to the diff and a click here and there on the suspension tamed some of the worst excesses. The biggest thing was the rear tyre wear improved dramatically when I moved the brake bias forward, but it did not appear to damage the fronts??  Probably my driving style  Undecided

The reason for my early exit was my pit stop. I had worked out in my head that although I could stretch the fuel to 22(+) laps, there was zero chance of the tyres lasting that long. So I decided to stop around half distance and get new rubber and a few gallons of juice. Brilliant plan!!
Well it would have been if I could have persuaded my myopic pit crew to even see the car!! I spent over a minute going backwards and forwards trying to make the pitboard to show!! I stalled the engine a few times and I suspect that in one of the lunges forwards or backwards I exceeded the pit lane speed limit  Sad This I discovered as I exited the pits in a very distant last place, which did not improve my mood one iota  censored
A spin at the chicane was the final straw, so I went for a beer!!

Kind of agree with Dimitar, although whether it is a problem or part of the package due to the big power is not in my knowledge base.

Never really got to grips with it, and couldn't put a really clean and fast lap together in quali. But profited from the early carnage to sit in second, and then when Ziu stopped very early to top the tank up I knew what his plan was. Mine was the exact opposite, I wanted to stop at the very last moment for a short fill, I never intended to take tyres.

Tried to drive in a steady fashion when in the lead, could see the gap to Ziu was mostly steady at 52 seconds or so for the main part of the race, but then around lap 16-17 the tire wear really kicked in and I was steadily losing pace as I tried to just keep the thing on the island. Gap was still 46 seconds as I entered the pits, but my stop was not fast, and I was behind Ziu by a second or so when I exited. It became clear within half a lap that Ziu had more pace left in his car, and I had an off track at turn one trying to stay with him. Immediately decided to back off and bring it home slowly for 2 laps as I had a comfortable gap to 3rd behind me. Wear on right rear was 40.7 on XD as I crossed the line to finish, and it really was misbehaving very badly, throwing childish tantrums at every braking and acceleration zone, making it a challenge to just complete the laps.

Grats to Ziu, had this one well covered.
