Moderator's Report

Seniordan rejoins the track after an "off" at turn 1.
But he reverses on to the track and causes the race leader to collide with him, costing Ziu the race lead.

  • seniordan (SeniordanGTL1)penalty — Bad rejoin which causes an accident — 3.0 championship point(s) — 3 places lost

Championship standings HERE

Grid/server capacity: 22

Car/Track download available by pm to WT

Track: Mosport (2012)

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (31 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops required: No

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

I rolled the car onto Sterling Moss's head, bent the steering, no patience to get it fixed. I might finish one of these events......
Good version of the modern track except for the black surfaces, made the car really unstable.

The human mind is a curious thing, what on earth made me decide to reverse back onto the track ? Complete madness. Sincere apologies to Ziu. ruined your race. Sorry mate.
On a side note, finished the race (three laps behind the winner I have to admit) . Not too bad after a three months' absence.

cheers, Dan

Grats to Daz (who was too fast for me to catch) and to Ziu (who was on another planet with 1:19's!!) .

After Ziu's unfortunate meeting with Dan, there were a few laps where I was actually running in second place. But, I had lost my front splitter very early in the race and a few more impacts had not improved the handling at all ( perhaps I was not hitting the barriers hard enough??).
Finally failed to make the Moss turn, stalled the engine and watched as Ziu sailed past to take 2nd spot Undecided

With a small grid and both Tony and Matt dropping out it was a lonely race, but I had finally built a setup and learned how to drive it to extract some decent times. If only I could keep all the bits on the car for the whole race I might have a shot at more podium places. Roll Eyes

I also noticed the "rough" black tarmac on a couple of corners and although it did make the car feel unstable, I felt that it made the track very realistic. Plus, I actually knew when I was getting close to the limit through those corners as the rear end would begin to twitch and threaten to step out, which it did on more than one occasion !!!

Just couldn't get the car to work here really, and consequently had no chance at all of getting anywhere near the laptimes Ziu was doing, or in fact any idea how he was doing them!

Some of the problems were being caused by that tarmac that the local travelling community had obviously been paid to lay, which was very far from flat and level! Car was bouncing all over it, and then flying off the road if I tried to get the throttle on. Eventually get into the 21s, with a full tank to replicate race pace, but held no aces in hand to change up how the race was likely to go.

Ziu got a better launch, and it became clear his pace was decent in the race as well as quali, he was pulling away easily by about at least a second per lap. I had already decided to go at a steady race pace, and not stop for fuel or tires, so did not go chasing very hard as I could not see the point.

However, a fistful of laps in, the gap suddenly came down, and I came across Dan and Ziu stranded in turn 1, and eased on by to take the lead. Ziu got away, and closed me down initially, but I could see in the mirror that he was missing the complete front bumper. I didn't think that would give him much chance to stay with me, too much laptime loss with damage like that, and so it proved eventually.

I still didn't pit, and that remained the goal, which I just about managed. The car was really bad by the end, but I made it home, to take a totally undeserved win. Dan confirmed how undeserved it was in his apologies to Ziu after the race. Unlucky Ziu, you had the pace here for sure, no way I could challenge those laptimes, left me in the dust!
