Well that was an eventful race. I got into a tangle with a a fellow Snowman on lap 1 so I ended up dead last. I gradually worked my way up through the field but I got stuck at 5th place and I couldn't make anymore progress, the Lotus BRM 2L was a bit slow on the straights. Dave C was in 4th and pulling away every so slightly. So I concentrated on defending my position. Dave Rainier and Bagrupp were having a battle behind me, but they were quicker than me and catching. With about 4 laps to go Dave R, a fellow Snowman, caught and passed me. I didn't fight for the place, I was more concerned with keeping ahead of Bagrupp, a pesky Santa, who was just a further 50 metres behind. The plan was working well, the draft from Dave R was just enough to keep me out of Bagrupp's clutches. But on the last lap at The Loop we had to lap another Santa. I didn't want to slow down because I would have lost momentum and I would have been a sitting duck for Bagrupp on the Back Straight. So I took a tight line in order to give Dave enough room on the outside. But unfortunately not enough, Dave clipped the snow on the exit and lost the rear which caused him to half spin and contact was made. Unlucky Dave, we were on for a good points haul there. I managed to finish so hopefully some points were salvaged.

Sorry Phil and Bastian for the big contact on the last turn.
I was trying to take a lap to Doni ...who was not very helpful at the braking of the Loop and at the exit.

No problem David, these things happen.

Doni was driving his normal racing line and speed, he was within his rights to do that. He didn't have to pull over and give way. He didn't have to be helpful, in fact he was right to stick to his normal line and play the team game. If he'd tried to block us, then arguably that would be unsportsmanlike, but I don't think he did.

It certainly made that last lap exciting, Bagrupp was all over me  eek.

How about keeping the same teams but swapping the car sets - Team Santa get cars the Elves used at Watkins Glen, Elves have the Snowmen cars & the Snowmen get the Red cars?
It does depend on the same drivers being available ??

Sounds good to me, we didn't stick to santa in red cars only, snowmen in white cars only and elves in green cars only so it won't matter if we swap cars. I'd prefer not to swap the drivers around. I found it hard enough to remember who my team mates were in round 1.

I'm down for another race, also in favour of swapping roles.

The provisional points may need to be amended  nono nono nono

At least one driver in the PRO ranks a) took 2 S/R's  and     b) failed to do a SnG for either thumbdown thumbdown

Review of the CCTV evidence is ongoing.....................................

On a brighter note, 2nd race for Rouen is posted for Friday. PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR CAR GROUPS HAVE CHANGED ALTHOUGH YOUR TEAM MEMBERS STAY THE SAME.

Some good fun dashing about in the snow in the Finger Lakes District.  Near as I can tell, I was the only runner to use the slippey trk file.  Lap times don't lie.

Bravo to Evil Clive for scoring a fine win!  Good jobs by Yannick & Leo to score podium finishes.

I can't hardly believe that after just three laps, I was the leader in the Santa brigade.   Grin  That couldn't last, of course, as all but J. Pettet put me in their mirrors by race's end and that only because he had a late-race off.  Only a couple of dramas along the way.  Santa team mate Bot thought it appropriate to short-brake me coming off the back straight on Lap14 to the point that I couldn't avoid drilling him in the tail.  With my limited traction, he next-to-asked for it.  Honestly.  I was able to recover without a reset needed.  Rather extraordinary considering the wild ride.  Next lap, J. Pettet roared by going into the Loop but surprised me by slowing drastically to the point that I couldn't avoid.  The biff had me off the road briefly but only cost a handful of seconds.  He got away scot-free with only a tap in the bum.  Sorry 'bout that, JP.  From there on in, it was just keep it on the white part.

I had a great race thanks , I was up to P4 with all the mishaps close racing with vermulen ? and Dave R , that is until lap 9,  when T Bot (recovering from his own misadventure) rear ended me going into the loop !

The de fault setups didnt work for me , so I cobbled my own but it wasn't too great escp under braking but managed a fairly clean run to the flag with a bit more racing on the way .
