Season 40 – 1968 LATE – Round 1 – Sandown 68

Welcome to a new season of the 1968 Mod. A slight change in the format, we will use the 68 Late car set, not the Early. The track selection has a theme. The first 5 races will be held on Tasman series tracks from Australia & New Zealand. The second half of the season will be staged on tracks in the USA.

There is no handicapping but drivers will have a limited choice of chassis for each round. The cars are divided into 5 groups, each group will have cars of similar performance level. We start with Group V and work our way up to Group I and then repeat. Group I is the fastest cars available in Formula 1 for 1968.

The first round takes place at Sandown in Melbourne, Australia.

The car set is Group V. Drivers may use any of the following cars but you will be required to use a different one for Race 6.

BRM P261 V8
BRM P261 V12
Brabham BT20

Full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please read the season 40 general rules for details.

Please read the specific rules for 68 series on the 1968 Early championship standings page.

ADVICE ON LAPPING. Some of the tracks in this series are short and narrow. The fastest drivers will be lapping backmarkers, perhaps more than once each race. For this year we have posted a multi-language guide to UKGPL rules on the Announcements page. This includes the etiquette for lapping. In summary the lapped car should remain on the racing line. This should save any unexpected accidents.

Unlimited number of Shift-Rs are allowed with no need to make Stop & Go.

Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents carry an extra 1 place penalty.

Only reported incidents will be moderated.

Please, excepting emergencies, no chat until Session Completed in qualification. No chat in the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Not on my home machine, but the overall downloiad is from http://68f1.gplworld.de/

Altough, maybe you already have it installed?  (under cars folder,  is the 1968-2  sub-folder for the LATE cars;  1968-1 is the EARLY set).
In which case, maybe you need to enable the 1968-2 carset in GEM+?

Something to look at until a better response is forthcoming Smiley

anyone know how to sort out the graphics on that track. ive tried just a plain install and some upgrades.

tried with the openGL  V 2 and the the other V2 rasterizers, but whatever I do i have got great big red and blue lumps of trackside objects all over the place. !!!

otherwise new PC is much better. really smooth and im slowly sorting the wheel n pedal settings.

sorry to hear about the CTD Pete.  I managed to only make 2 errors tonight and finished. also stayed I hope out of the way of all the fast guys.  had some good laps with Evil n David for a while. I quite like the track but did expect more accidents etc. just missed a few people when they were making rejoins but otherwise fun GPL.

thanks Billy and Phil for the server etc..
