Season 40 - SC67 Cup – Round 1 - 37¾ mile Isle Of Man Mountain Course

For the first race of the 1967 Sports Cars Cup we visit the "37¾ mile Isle Of Man Mountain Course" a wonderfull new track made in many years by Aussie Jim Pearson.
It seems to be made for this cars...

Please check the Season 40 details regarding rules and the SCX Cup pages in particular.
In order to add an element of realism, and to hopefully reduce the possibility of rear-end incidents, the brake light patch will be used  eek

Race date = 21-01-2022

Handicapping

"Works" drivers will carry extra weight in form of  6 gallons (~27 Liter) of race fuel (to remain in the tank after the race). No limit in quali!
Drivers are expected to behave in a fair and gentlemanly fashion and declare how much fuel they have left after the race.

For this race!

ROLLING START to the exit of Quarter Bridge!
Leader keeps ~ 62mph / 100 kmh - single line grid follows

Resets will be allowed
there is no need to carry out a Stop and Go in the pit lane if you make a Shift-R.

Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents carry an extra 1 place penalty.
Only reported incidents will be moderated.

Please restrict chat to emergency messages only including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

I just registered for this series (less than 75% of the races).
I think you will count me among privateers  Wink

I've only ever driven here in the Ferrari. I think it may be the Porsche or Alfa this time but which one? It's harder to choose than to learn the circuit.  laugh

I'm saving the Porsche for later  Grin

What's the ultimate tyre temp for Alfa? I know it's 28 psi for the Porsche and 32 for all other "big" cars. What about the Alfa?

Oh man, you're wondering about tyre pressures....I've done about 4 laps ( & a million shift+rs!), car choice for me seems irrelevant! Tomorrow's gonna be a blast  Wink

The same here Fulvio.....I watched your crash in quali and got dumped back to desktop immediately. The server would not accept rejoins so that was the end of my fun  Undecided

Going really fine. great fun.  but sadly clipped the kerb while going up onto the mountain for the 2nd and last time and as car lifted up in the air I sadly crashed...

straight into my Window 10 desktop. All the airbags went off and that was the end of my race on the island. LOL.

i really like this track, warrants some praccy for the next time i think.  i might also try the pace notes and corner signals.

i actually remember it from 30 years ago when as a younger man i rode far too fast around the island on my BMW R100RS.  ah, memories, Mad Sunday.

I spend most sundays now on the Settee.  laugh

Now you know why i was at the back... next time i will take the 2 seater sofa, the 3 seater has very bad drag.  Should see much improved speeds on the straights next time.

i may even remove some stuffing and thow away the cushions..

I had 29 liter left - let's hope all Works driver got it  Grin

Grats Phil great drive!

Shame on the CTDs - I ask if you have the "track gap patch" activated? But it is a pretty fragile track...

OMG my car felt so heavy - now I looked into the mechanical report and found that I had from the 12th min an engine problem - I was thinking it's the fuel load...
