Moderator's Report

Rolling Start: Greg forgot the rolling start and exceeded the speed limit before the red line. Any advantage gained was soon lost when he span out a few laps later and lost several places. The fixed penalty of 15 seconds would have been applied but, on this occasion, would not have affected the overall race result. Apology received from Greg.

All drivers reminded to familiarise themselves with the rules regarding rolling starts.

No other reported incidents.

Season 40 – CanAM – Round 2 – Laguna Seca

"Laguna Seca started out as a lake, which is how it received it’s famous name. Laguna Seca is spanish for Dry Lagoon. The race course was built around the dry lake bed. The circuit's signature turn, the downhill-plunging Corkscrew sets the Laguna Seca apart from other race tracks built around the same time When the track was built in 1957, it was built at a cost of $1.5 million, which was raised from local businesses and local individuals after the nearby Pebble Beach Road Races were abandoned for being deemed far too dangerous.

The first race, which was held on November 9, 1957, was won by Pete Lovely driving a Ferrari. In the intervening years, the track has hosted USRRC, WSBK Superbike World Championship, American Le Mans Series, Trans-Am, IMSA GT, CART, Grand American, Can-Am, Monterey Historic Automobile Races, Formula 5000, Speed World Challenge, AMA (American Motorcyclist Association), and MotoGP motorcycle races."

This race and track are missing from the Championship page.

Hi David, I've asked Axel if he can help as he uploaded the results yesterday.

Oups, I had forgotten to "generate the standings"

In the race my concentration was lost so I had to quit...

Great job for the win, Fulvio!  Smiley

Bad luck there, Axel.  You were dynamite fast in the out-classed Genie.

Pulled a real newb boner by going to the grid with the default race setup loaded.  Groan...  Not even enough fuel to go the distance.  I realized almost immediately that something was wrong as the gearing was all wrong.  Couldn't even pull 6000 in third gear.  Sigh...

As for the race, some dramas along the way.  A biff in the tail from Evil Clive had me spinning but I got away light compared to his fortunes.  Later, I took the chance of taking a sip of tea along the front straight and attempted to run through the T2 complex with just one hand.  Bad idea.  Over the polos, upside-down but back on my wheels so I continued seemingly not damaged.  PHEW!  It became apparent that I'd need a splash and dash so waited til some way past half distance to drop in for service.  I wasn't too far behind Paul at the time but this let him go to earn a much deserved P6.  Good show there, Paul.  Much later, I caught flags going into T4 and slowed to find Bot broadside in the road but he moved to cut off my escaped route.  CRUNCH!  A nasty collision but at least I survived.  All in all, a P7 finish was a gift.

Congrats Fulvio and Tristan!

The score is incorrect. I'm so scatter-brained at times. I completely forgot about the rolling start. I wondered why Tristan gave me a 10 second head start. It didn't take me long to get mad at myself for blowing my lead. I also thought a pit stop was required after a reset. Fulvio never did it so when I ran out of fuel late in the race I didn't stop either. I would tried harder to get the lead when Fulvio reset if I didn't think he was going to stop. Fulvio is doing well with Gurney's Lola.
