Moderator's Report

Summary
A win for Cookie in the Lancia with Leo in a very close second place. A fine drive by JonnyO secured the final place on the podium.

Server replay time: 0h15m16s

Lap 7 – Schikane – Phil Thornton and Claudio Navonne
Phil managed to get a good exit out of the previous corner and had the inside line into Schikane. He couldn't see where Claudio was from the cockpit so he kept as tight a line as he could but unfortunately contact was made.

Claudio did nothing wrong.

Looking at the overhead view, it shows Phil didn't have enough overlap (<50%) at turn-in so this incident has to be his fault although it looks like the contact was exacerbated by warp.

Season 40 – 1955 Grand Prix – Round 2 – Works - Zeltweg

This race announcement is for the WORKS.

The second race in the 1955 Grand Prix series finds us at Zeltweg Austria. Zeltweg - the original Österreichring. Built in 1969 to replace the bland and bumpy Zeltweg Airfield circuit, the track was known for being very fast, as every corner was a fast sweeper and taken in no lower than 3rd gear in a 5-speed gearbox and 4th in a 6-speed gearbox.  There are also noticeable changes in elevation during the course of a lap which means the downhill sections are even faster. Like most fast circuits it was a hard circuit on engines and even harder on tyres simply because the speeds were so consistently high.

good afternoon:
I just want to emphasize a situation of disrespect from a runner named doni towards me:
At one point in qualifying, the prebluda told me that no one was coming when I left the pits, and I went out to prepare my warm-up lap. In a moment of surprise, I saw that Doni arrived at my mirrors and I hurt his lap since I closed it. your racing line.
for that fact, he proceeded to ask for an apology, not without first receiving a strong insult from him.
I transcribe the chat of the moment:
  doni- you idiot
farina-so sorry doni my prebluda dont tell me nothing (show me)
doni- i'll see you have paper work for that
farina - no idiot, sir, respect, just a mistake, just start again the lap and that's it. but respect.
What did he mean by "i'll see you have paper work for that???
First of all I want to clarify to doni, that I don't have any paper work to do dirty things, I am one of the cleanest pilots out there, although I accept that I have made mistakes in my life as a LPG racer, but if you look my repetitions especially in the classifications, you will see that I let all the runners pass and I take off when someone comes opening hot lap.
I ask you to give a lot of respect to someone who has been in this simulator for many years and someone who is respected worldwide, his comments in the chat show hatred and in some way racism, and I will not accept that.
It is not the first time that I have problems of hate or racism in this league and that is really getting me tired.
I like to run to have fun, not to be insulted or crashed because they want to.
I have made mistakes and many in these 20 years of gpl, and only with a single runner have we come to insults, something that I already left behind, and I do not want to have friction or misunderstandings with you where are we?
so for the future I hope that the pilots and myself included, respect the fast lap of those who are opening laps in qualy, look at the prebluda, and avoid being insulted as it happened to me.
   Than

Hi Enrique

I'm very sorry you feel offended, I'm sure Doni didn't mean to be aggressive and disrespectful. I suspect he just got a bit excited and typed something in the heat of the moment. Please be assured we do not condone racism, sexism or antisocial behaviour of any kind at UKGPL. We are all friends here, just having fun. I will have a read through the chat, I'm pretty sure I logged it.

Claudio

Sorry about the contact on Lap 7, I waited for you to recover but when you didn't I assumed your car was damaged so I continued. I'll submit an incident report.

What an exciting race with Cookie from the first to the last lap!

We started fast and soon we were opening a gap to the pack behind. My plan was see if I could pull away in front, but Cookie was just stuck we me all the way. Mid race I thought about changing strategy, let him in front and put some pressure, see what the Ferrari could do, maybe force him into a mistake. I was going left and right but he was mostly perfect and his top speed made it even more difficult. I'm just glad I've put some points on the board. Congratulations Cookie, and Jonny for the podium!

Apologies to Ricky for my offhand comment made in a fit of rage.  As for playing the racism card, gimme a break.  That won't go too far as I have many Latino amigos who'll say otherwise.

Bravo to the podium in what sounds like a splendid battle for the win.  Great job, fellas.  Must have a look at the replay cap.

I had a epic battle for honours in the Gordinis finally winning out by a whisker over Evil.  It was real nail-biter and frankly, I didn't think that I'd get the place.  I finally got a good tow on the front straight to pass Evil going into T1 to take the point to start the last lap but he immediately got underneath me to retake on the run down to Tiroch.  On down to Bosch and it didn't look promising for an overtake.  But wait!  Evil has gotten very sideways in the left-hander downstream of Bosch and I'm in with a chance.  Pulling up alongside, I carefully monitored his position with a look off my 'look right' button.  Still level-pegging.  Only as we set for exiting the Schikane did I get a bit of jump as Evil made an allowance for me on the outside.  That was all I needed to ease ahead and claim that hard-fought P7.  PHEW!  Quite the ride.  Smiley

I was a little bored with this race having raced it the week before on mod67, this is a bit weird when we have over 200 tracks to choose from. So I chose the Ferrari 625, a cheap and competitive car.

At the beginning with Farina for several laps until he had engine problems, I believe. The rest of the race was lonely away from the leaders and well ahead of whoever was in 4th.

But it was fun to watch the battle between Axel and Leo for the pribluda. You were really one step ahead of the rest of the troop.

apology accepted,
I recognize when I make a mistake and accept it, Sometimes it's hard, but you have to realize that you can't always be perfect.
   thanks doni, no problem. cheers...
my race - amazing race against jonnie, but my engine tell me no more and Im out. :-(

I don't know if I can stand another race like this  Grin
I was very tired by a day out on ski with my two grandsons, and my eyes were barely seeing something on the screen after the back home travel  eek
I had the best car and tried to not make big errors and avoid any contact. It was interesting at lap 6 when Bastian made a move in between me and Clive at Tiroch  Shocked

LOL

It came as quite a surprise to me too.  I had left room on the inside because I thought that you were lining me up for a dive down the inside and then that damn red thing appeared!   laugh

At least Fulvio's excuse explains how I managed to pass a Mercedes with a Gordini on Lap 1. But, the glory did not last for long  Undecided and I worked my wheel nuts off to get within slipstream range of your 3 way battle, but I was just short of 0.015secs per lap.
Doni, on the other hand suddenly loomed large in my mirrors mid race and had his blue slug absolutely flying  eek eek. I tried everything to keep ahead but he was absolutely perfect... and I was not lol. You absolutely deserved that place Doni  I Am Not Worthy I Am Not Worthy
