Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 933s

Colin Hines is following Baracus closely into the Startkurven; Backo, the next car back, brakes very late and taps Colin's right rear corner. The contact isn't enough to know Colin off but Backo forces his way inside the Ferrari and takes the place while Colin wrestles it back under control.

Backo's car then runs a fraction wide on the exit and slows enough to cause Colin to give it a love tap from behind, and the resulting loss of momentum allows Mo to also pass Colin.

I'm satisfied that there was no intentional contact here, but Backo should really have done the gentlemanly thing and not taken advantage of his initial contact with Colin's car.

  • BACKOcaution — taking a place through contact
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 1073s

Beholder has departed the track coming out of Hansen, allowing Picnic to pass. Picnic then copies the error on the exit of Gislaved, but bounces off the tyres protecting the pit wall and is sent back across the track to the right just as Beholder has committed to pass on the right. Beholder does extremely well to miss him by taking to the grass, but is off line for turn 1 and is slower than Picnic anticipates and the latter runs into the back of him, pushing him over the grass.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1436s

Baracus and Mo and working their way through traffic on the runway; Baracus brakes fractionally early and Mo fails to shed enough speed, clipping the back of Baracus's car at the apex and spinning him round into oncoming traffic where he is clipped again by Anthony Humphreys who is spun multiple times onto the grass and then struggles to recover.

There was certainly no intent here but the huge mismatch in speeds between the two cars, neither of which was in close proximity to another and both of which were on or very close to the normal racing line is a puzzle.

  • mowarning — rear ending Baracus
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 1481s

Jure is about to lap Anthony as they exit the Startkurven, but Anthony lifts off dramatically before Jure has a chance to pull to one side and is promptly and predictably rear ended as Jure is taken completely by surprise.

  • Splintheter (Anthony Humphreys)caution — don't lift off to help a car passed until they have moved out from behind
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 1799s

Similar to the Mo/Baracus incident at 1436, this time with Mo breaking slightly early and Picnic braking slightly later. Mo very nearly rescues control of his car and Picnic backs off (even allowing TrueTom past) but gets back on the throttle about half a second before he's completely cleared the grass and goes off again.

When Mo catches up again two laps later Picnic allows him to retake the place.

  • picnic (Picnic)warning — light rear end contact with Mo
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

About 10 minutes to go and I caught Colin in his F550. Now there was me thinking F575 was going to be a good match for the F550 down the straight, but boy does that 550 fly. I was running quite low rear wing (for me) of 7 to give me some edge for overtaking people down the straight, but all it did in Colin's slipstream was keep me in it. Wow, what a motor Cool. He tried to hold me off for a bit but after getting the best tow I'd managed from him I outbroke him into T2 and never looked back to take 7th place, a climb of 10 places.

Yeah and and strange thing is I was running an 8 wing and 2 on splitter. The 550 is a power house and I dont think I have it set-up right the twisties, especially for turn-in. Simon, my exit from T1 was poor and for a second I thought you wouldn't pass but I heard you get on the brakes just after me so the corner was going to be yours. Good stuff!

Well I was pleased to get 3rd in quali, but was a bit ticked off with the amount of leaving and rejoining going on. Sad
Not saying I could have gone faster but it was a little distracting.

I seemed to loose a second of pace with the server full, I had been pracing on it over the last two days with up to 12 drivers on, but once qual started I took a big hit in FPS, damn P4 chip.  Tongue

Race wise it was a good blast. Ruskus and Zacari were faster than me so I tried to settle for a quick pace to keep third, but Leuven wasn't having any of that. Smiley

We had a good battle, he got ahead and I was clawing back time slowly when he had a near off, so I managed to slip past. I got a tyre warning on the last lap after a patchy race of over driving.

Pleased to finish a race at SROU and Dave I'll PM you about name change m8. Smiley

I'm on night shift tonight and using my mobile phone for this.  i have not had a chance to view replay yet. I had a number of instances tonight of cars standing still. Only once in race but a few during other sessions. I did not have the same problems as sunday though. The game was back running smoothly. It seems strange that these problems were not there for me before. Sorry it's all one paragraph as i cant work out how to get a new line on this phone

That was as good as I could've hoped for!  Before tonight my best time was in the high 25's, took over a second off my PB in quali.  Jeff was just too good, consistently around half a second a lap faster.  Started in 2nd.

Race start was fine though I was a little slow dropping the hammer.  After a few close laps with no25 in 3rd, I managed to get into a rhythm and slowly pulled into a lonely 2nd which I held until the flag.  Great to have a team shark/TS junior 1-2 Grin though hopefully at Silverstone I can give Jeff more of a race Smiley

Shame about the server issues though Sad

May I suggest everyone checks again that they have ISDN selected for the connection speed within the game. The server used to cope well with 2 grids of 26 cars except when doing transision changes between sessions and saving replays, now it seemingly can't cope with a single server of 26 cars  Undecided The only real change on the server is the car pack but I can't see how this makes a big difference as the server does not display any gfx.

Don't think that's true unfortunately. We did have stationary cars etc even on 26 in the GT Sprint last season as I remember Jeff's car freezing a few times at Zhuhai specifically and I know it happened elsewhere too.

I wonder if some research can find us anything useful on RSC that we don't already know to see if there are settings on the datarate and net settings that would help us here on the server side too.

Despite the fact that some disconnected and weren't able to race, I was pleased with my race.
Second to last on the grid, I knew that my Viper wasn't that competitive here, and it's not everything on the car's fault.. it's my hüber skillz that have to come back from a long time ago when I was young  laugh

I had a great time with Anthony fighting for the last place.. I was pleased that I didn't do any errors until the leaders came back on me.. Then I made some little n00b errors, looking more into my rear view mirrors than my line.. I think I did good not to move into the way of the faster cars.. but made some slight mistakes trying to make some space.. I still need to train for that.

And after that I'll be in search of some speed.. if some of you have some spare for me  Kiss

I think I lapped both Anthony and Fred, both were very accomodating. I was rather hoping to box Chong in behind Ant but couldn't quite make that pay.  Evil angel

Right

Had a semisuccessful quali, second off my pace, but no matter.

Warm up lap was a bit weird (we should go back to "engage pit-lane limiter" two turns before S/F straight) since lots of us had to brake with pit-limiter on (invitation for broken plastic)...

Race started well, gained 5 places and was wondering what the hell is going on at the back straight (blue flag - move over message, 5 laps or so in a row  Huh Funny enough, but it only happened if one of Team Shark MC12 came relatively close out of T1, otherwise no. I went "Que?" like Manuel from Faulty towers  Grin).
Lost control while comming onto penultimate left corner (before the bridge) with two (2) stationary cars, white/green one and a... blue one, I think  Grin They've appeared just as I was comming to my braking point so you can imagine how that went. Happened 3-4 laps in a row, then the bug changed its form into "I'll let you see those cars until you come up close just to make them go away again". Very weird. Undecided Also, I'm pretty sure that wasn't the case for all of us since at least two cars in my mirrors stayed on their racing line (racing line=location of those stationary cars  Grin ) while I was trying to avoid stuff that wasn't there. Or was it?  Roll Eyes

While exiting the same corner (comming into last righthander) I was, brainfart I guess, checking mirrors to see if those bug-cars are still there and missed the entry. Spin-o-rama  Grin and, of course, it all went downhill from then on. Pitty, we were racing like crazed maniacs, but very gentlemen like. Cool stuff, thx. Smiley

Caught up a black lambo (thought he was one of the front runners that messed up a corner since he just recovered from a major offtrack excursion), came in behind him, we've raced for 3-4 corners, then he moved offline to let me by. Since I was in "must draft to get him" mode, i went offline to and smashed right into him due to his lift off. Turns out he was a back marker.  Roll Eyes My fault, admins, check for penalties, please (on my behalf, not his).

Lost a good part of front end bodywork and was sitting duck till the end.

Still, fun stuff, can't wait for endurance race.  Cool

P.S. Another info that might help resolve server problems. Myself and (I suspect) many other drivers were kicked out of practice server due to "possible cheat" thingie. After rejoining, all was well (seen plenty of drivers with same problem yesterday afternoon/evening).

P.S. P.S. It seems like we've lost lots of cars in a single lap (didn't check lapchart, just a feeling, I know at a certain point of the race there were "xy left the game" messages one after another) due to discos or something like that. IMHO it was (online flying sim hosting experience talking now) either due to their software autoupdates or a problem with ISP. Perhaps all those that got disco should post their ISP names (if they're all using same ISP, then it's clear what happened).

Thanks, credits go to the maker Alexzz. I use this one now for a while, but there are some handy new feature, like a direct link to the replay in the lapchart (Summary bottom left) and also the logs.
