Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 933s

Colin Hines is following Baracus closely into the Startkurven; Backo, the next car back, brakes very late and taps Colin's right rear corner. The contact isn't enough to know Colin off but Backo forces his way inside the Ferrari and takes the place while Colin wrestles it back under control.

Backo's car then runs a fraction wide on the exit and slows enough to cause Colin to give it a love tap from behind, and the resulting loss of momentum allows Mo to also pass Colin.

I'm satisfied that there was no intentional contact here, but Backo should really have done the gentlemanly thing and not taken advantage of his initial contact with Colin's car.

  • BACKOcaution — taking a place through contact
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 1073s

Beholder has departed the track coming out of Hansen, allowing Picnic to pass. Picnic then copies the error on the exit of Gislaved, but bounces off the tyres protecting the pit wall and is sent back across the track to the right just as Beholder has committed to pass on the right. Beholder does extremely well to miss him by taking to the grass, but is off line for turn 1 and is slower than Picnic anticipates and the latter runs into the back of him, pushing him over the grass.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1436s

Baracus and Mo and working their way through traffic on the runway; Baracus brakes fractionally early and Mo fails to shed enough speed, clipping the back of Baracus's car at the apex and spinning him round into oncoming traffic where he is clipped again by Anthony Humphreys who is spun multiple times onto the grass and then struggles to recover.

There was certainly no intent here but the huge mismatch in speeds between the two cars, neither of which was in close proximity to another and both of which were on or very close to the normal racing line is a puzzle.

  • mowarning — rear ending Baracus
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 1481s

Jure is about to lap Anthony as they exit the Startkurven, but Anthony lifts off dramatically before Jure has a chance to pull to one side and is promptly and predictably rear ended as Jure is taken completely by surprise.

  • Splintheter (Anthony Humphreys)caution — don't lift off to help a car passed until they have moved out from behind
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 1799s

Similar to the Mo/Baracus incident at 1436, this time with Mo breaking slightly early and Picnic braking slightly later. Mo very nearly rescues control of his car and Picnic backs off (even allowing TrueTom past) but gets back on the throttle about half a second before he's completely cleared the grass and goes off again.

When Mo catches up again two laps later Picnic allows him to retake the place.

  • picnic (Picnic)warning — light rear end contact with Mo
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Great race, really pleased with my 8th place. Qualified 9th with a decent 1.25.1. Got a decent start and was surrounded by the Racing 24-7 boys! Great racing lads. Chased Picnic at the start in that cracking lookin Shark Maser and then just steadily got taken by the faster folks. Got a nudge by Backo into the last turn and that was that really. Simon then caught me up and it wasn't long before he passed. Nice move mate. From then on in I just kept a steady pace and made sure my tyres lasted. Overloaded on fuel though, has about 20l to spare  Roll Eyes

All in all really great racing by everyone. Roll on GT2!

Was in from practice and then kicked during quali, was that to make place for full time racers ??  Huh

No, just bad luck. We think the server is struggling with 26 and may have to drop to 24. Undecided

Good race all, had a good few fights in there and was panicing towards end with Dave right behind me, kept on locking a wheel but corrected quickly enough so to not lose a place.

Was worried on the first lap seeing my brother flying upside down in the air tho. LOL Cheesy

wondered what the hell happened there Kerr, i checked my mirror for a split second to see who was chasing me out of the corner, then as soon as i looked forward again, there was a spray of kevlar and you appeared about 200 metres behind me, even though i was nowhere near you on the straight  Huh weirdest warp i've seen.

New item to add to my mental checklist at race start...Check the bloody temperature outside !!  Roll Eyes  It was 30 degrees...in Sweden Huh

Within a few laps my tyres were showing 217kpa  Shocked so knew i was going to be in for a tougher race than normal. I just hoped everyone else had been likewise caught out. Undecided
I was trying to push but also preserve the tires, even early on. Shark was keeping a watching brief close behind for quite a few laps and i sensed he could tell i was struggling with one particular corner, that horrible off camber left 90 degree turn before the bridge (turn 6). Dont know why but my car refused to turn in there and i lost time to him every time as i tried to avoid that slippery bastard kerb on the outside. Eventually i touched it and like the true predator he is, Shark darted up the inside for the brief 10th of a second i had to lift. Nice move ya bugger  Tongue
He was the only one to get past me all race (i think) but once he was past i couldnt stay with him.
Got past a few others on my way to the end and with about 5 mins to go i wanted to try and keep the tyres on the car and ease off, but my teamie TT decided to attack a bit (must get that team radio fixed Roll Eyes ) and i had to push a bit harder than i wanted with a front left showing 29 wear rate Shocked
But we brought it home a reasonable 9th and 10th for the Legends Maseratis  Cool  (though judging by his qually pace, TT had a top 5 finish in him) Sad
Nice clean racing all round and thanks to the backmarkers who behaved perfectly.  angel

To the persons i hit coming back on to the track on 3rd/4th lap i think, i apologise i had some major issues concerning cars just appearing in front of me out of thin air.

Rather than babble on i frap'd the said event. :'(

http://v5-gaming.com/magic.avi

Has anyone got any ideas to what couldve caused this. I have max visible cars set to 28 btw.

Cheers.

Yeah some dodgy GTR2 issues there and discos not good. Even at 26 the game just doesn't seem to cope. As usual when it went down to 24 it seemed fine. I hope we don't have to drop to 24 max as that's just poop. If the game can't handle it why do they allow it. Bah. Angry

Anyway..

I have not really driven GT cars in anger fully properly with a bit of practice (ok it was only 30 minutes before but it's more practice than I've done for months) since GTR1 and I'd forgotten how much faster they are and how much more you have to concentrate so hard to keep consistent. Not bad time in qually, 0.5 off my TimeTrial time but to be expected, unfortunately only good enough for 17th or 18th on the grid just in-front of the yank tank of Gizmo.

Warmup lap was a bit odd having to brake coming to the line with the limiter on, but I suspect some of that was down to the apparent car jitters from having 26 cars. First few laps was a game of dodge the stationary cars. I drove right through Colin's Team Shark Junior F550 at one point, thankfully without damage. Bizarre. Anyway after that strange behaviour went away I settled into what I do best, drive consistently for lap after lap in the race, keeping tyres managed and saving the engine. I really am not a qualifying person, I do everything for a good race. Got a couple of people into T2, quite a few places from people's offs and another into one of the corners near the end. About 10 minutes to go and I caught Colin in his F550. Now there was me thinking F575 was going to be a good match for the F550 down the straight, but boy does that 550 fly. I was running quite low rear wing (for me) of 7 to give me some edge for overtaking people down the straight, but all it did in Colin's slipstream was keep me in it. Wow, what a motor Cool. He tried to hold me off for a bit but after getting the best tow I'd managed from him I outbroke him into T2 and never looked back to take 7th place, a climb of 10 places.

I really quite enjoyed being back in GT cars and look forward to slipping into the next Sprint race too if there is space.

Well done to the podium, a nice start for the Team Shark group with both Junior and Senior in the top 2. That's going to be an interesting little battle in the Team Shark group as we try and out-do each other this season.

Thanks for the race all. Qualified waaay back on the grid, but a couple of people went off the track and I got a couple of positions.

Had some good fights ,but one of those last minute changes I tend to do really messed things up. Dunno why I thought it was a good idea ,but I opted for brake duct of 2 and my brakes never got above 350 degress  Undecided  Oh well, lesson learned for the endurance race  Smiley Keep duct at 1 .

Thought I had Dave under control and at a reasonable distance, until I messed things up and all of a sudden he was in my mirrors and flew by me  Undecided  Managed to keep it under control and not crash into the barrier, but it was close..Damn brakes  Embarrassed

Narrowly avoided running into Shark during the start when he suddenly slowed for a moment as we crossed the line. Not sure what that was about - might've been an element of warp.

Then got caught out by somebody's frozen car (maybe Adam, bad luck mate) and hit Buckie who as a result I couldn't see rejoining from the entry to Hansen and slipped a few places to 22nd, luckily not doing much front end damage.

After that it was mostly picking up places as people disco'd or went off, and gradually easing up onto the back of cej and Chong who were having a great scrap ahead. Dunno whether it was my pressure or his own but cej eventually spun out of Hansen which left me free to try and pressure Chong into a mistake (I was never going to squeek past the 550 under power!) but it never came and I had to settle for a creditable 15th in my first proper championship GT race.

Tyres held up well and fuel was pretty much spot on (finished with about 9 litres) but I've got an awful lot to learn about setting the Corvette up and then getting the most out of it. More worrying was getting spanked by Picnic in the MC12! Shocked Grin

To the persons i hit coming back on to the track on 3rd/4th lap i think, i apologise i had some major issues concerning cars just appearing in front of me out of thin air.

No problem - there was a stuck car so clearly there was something icky going on. Might wanna rejoin a bit slower next time mind. Wink

If you check the avi i uploaded you can see that to me the track looked clear. The oncoming cars magically appeared out of thin air. Otherwise i wouldve waited until the traffic had passed.

After a couple of seasons staying clear of GTs this was my first race in anger for some while. Picked the MC12 as it looks great especially with Shark's paint job. Trouble was I a bit inconsistent. I must appolgies to both Beholder and Mo for cock ups, sorry chaps.

There are some seriously nice looking cars out there and some skillful drivers. I had no problems with cars warping badly or disappearing, just everything happening too quickly  Shocked

May I suggest everyone checks again that they have ISDN selected for the connection speed within the game. The server used to cope well with 2 grids of 26 cars except when doing transision changes between sessions and saving replays, now it seemingly can't cope with a single server of 26 cars  Undecided The only real change on the server is the car pack but I can't see how this makes a big difference as the server does not display any gfx.

Adam me too and I am on BT. First problems since I moved house 3 weeks ago. Lost it first about 7:55pm and then again at end of qually. Guess they are having a few problems. Sorry to hear of your troubles too.

Where abouts in the country are you?  I'm in Banbury, and there's nothing mentioned on the BT site.  Not that that doesn't mean they've gone and buggered things up.....

I was focusing on cathing up with Chong thinking you were well behind me. All of a sudden you were way to close for my liking and struggling with my brakes frustration set in, got on the throttle way to early and lost it  Embarrassed  Was some good racing though  Cool
