Moderator's Report

PRibeiro joined in a scoring car despite being a Masters driver. The Masters should take non-scoring (G2 or GT3) cars so that they don't have any direct effect on the Clubmen championship.

As a one off, his car has been classified in G2. In future, we will probably exclude such drivers from the results.

A few reserve drivers joined before the start of Practice 2; all drivers are reminded that they should join in the correct session.

Server replay time: 1312s

Backo is challenging Kerr for the lead as they race down the Flight Straight. Popabawa and Munkez are ahead and about to be lapped, and Backo is on the left and about to suddenly run out of road as he uses the 550's huge straightline speed advantage to get alongside Kerr, who misinterprets Popabawa's slight course correction as he tucks back over to the left ready for T2, and Brian suddenly moves left as he thinks he is about to run into the back of the Vertigo.

Unfortunately, Backo is right there and has to run off the circuit to avoid a big accident, losing 7 spots in the process (and a further place waiting to rejoin safely).

I've no reason to believe that this was anything other than a racing incident, although Backo put himself into a position with no Plan B, and Kerr should really have been aware of which side Backo was coming down and gone right and not left.

  • BACKOadvice — always have a Plan B
  • Kerr (Brian Kerr)advice — maintain better situational awareness

Server replay time: 2239s

Jure is about to lap Anthony's M3 as they exit Startkurven. Ant hesitates for a moment about which way to go, then moves back to the left, but Jure has started to commit to the left also. Anthony then lifts off the throttle before Jure has a chance to duck right and the result is inevitably an accident.

Server replay time: 3126s

CE is chasing PaulW for 8th as he comes up to lap Popabawa. CE passes under braking for T2 but runs just a fraction too deep into the corner and drops a wheel off onto the dirt, sliding back on and collecting Pops. CE then does a good job rejoining safely on the inside of Laktar without impeding Pops any further.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 4075s

Jure, who is being chased by Picnic and is chasing Dirk, catches Eddie Meyer and Anthony Humphreys as they arrive at T4. The faster car passes Eddie on the brakes but catches Anthony unawares and there is some relatively mild side contact mid-corner.

I was prompted to switch off the ignition etc which I did, fuel added, tyres changed and then nothing!?
I'd like to get to the borttom of it!? Very frustrating to race for 45mins and then nothing!
Would appreciate your help !

Sorry if this is a completely obvious question but they weren't repairing any damage to the care were they? By default, all damage will be repaired unless you explicitly tell them not to do it. Some of it can take a while too.

I agree. I did look at joining but when I saw nearly full server I thought it best to not join in case of discos for full-time or even part time Clubmen so I didn't take their spot.

Having watched the server stay static at 24 for about 10 minutes before the change to Q1, I was reasonably happy that there were free spots. Having said that, if I had known of a full timer who was locked out then I'd have been happy to drop out. Is there any way that we can do a check on the forum at the start of Q2 to see if this has happened? If so then an announcement could be made on the server. Just an idea. Either way, if the masters are are happy to all not join for now then I'm OK with this too.

Could we do that through a UKGTR chat section in the GTR2 lobby?

That was a very eventful race,  The damp track for Q2 was different, liked that.  Had nice quali battle with Mark Jonzo and Jure  Smiley.

Opening laps and Jure has a bit of a slide exiting the last turn, this lets me get a run into T1.  Managed to go from 6th to 4th after Jonzo and one of those Nice blue and white lambos give each other a touch up.  Then chasing Arron and Backo they give each other a touch up and im handed 2nd Tongue.

Few laps later im caught up behind Anthony Humphreys, i was waiting for the next straight before i pass him as i made a failed attempt to go around the outside of T5, then outta nowhere Backo comes up flashing his lights at a rate of knots !! Grin and passes me into T6, Nice move there m8, hope i gave you plenty of room.  Shortly after that, Backo is closing up on Brian, they have a bit of an arm wrestle, then Backo goes flying off track narrowly missing Pops in the Vertigo Shocked.

Brain m8 im so sorry about the nudge i gave you at T2, was slipstreaming you up  runway and didnt take into consideration the extra speed i had going into the braking area.  That probably seemed pretty aggresive in your eyes but i didnt mean to do it, just couldnt pull it up on time.  luckily you held it and i had an off as my pittance angel.

I passed Brian on the runway in a move similar to the one with Jure,  Don (TVR) was in the middle and Brian on the inside, me on the outside and just got my nose infront for the braking at T2 Smiley. Brain then made an error which allowed me to open up a gap quickly.

Pitstop time, entered the pits to find a yellow Saleen in my pitbox Shocked.  Had to wait for a few seconds until he had finished.  If i had check the pre race posts i would have learned the correct place to turn off the pitlimiter (the lights) but i thought it was the same place as GTR1 (end of the pit garages) so i earned a Stop n go for my ignorance Undecided.  Served my Stop n go and dropped back to 3rd behind Dirk and Brian.  At this stage i was pushing hard and want to Apologise to Don for bumping you onto the grass, was trying to stay as close as possible and wait for the straight but just got too close and gave you a tap !!.

Managed then to catch and pass Dirk after he ran a bit wide at the exit of T6.  Could not see Brian so didnt think i could catch him but i had about 10 minutes to work on it.  Surprisingly Brian made a mistake at the last turn and i closed right up, and then got him on the runway.

Loved it last night, sorry about the page long essay but as i said eventful Cheesy

@Picnic -- i know ive had 4 name changes since ive joined UKGTR, Stnasky, Mark@GP, Mark Mc and now my full name, must be confusing to say the least, but recently ive reinstalled Xp and havent gotten round to creating a new profile with Mark Mc as my ID.  Is the name i used last night ok to keep or would you like me to use my older ID ??

A good question but no, I'm normally very good at pit stops!! I turned the repair option off and hit enter!?

Puzzled!

BTW, I wonder what a vertigo driver thought when Mark (I think) and myself blasted by on the straight, vertigo being the one in the middle, awesome replay, I'm sure (hint for video directors out there). Wink Very similar to that Mika-Schumi thingy at Spa few years back. Cool stuff.  Cool
I remember that - I think I mentioned on TeamSpeak too I was so surprised. Cheesy

Tell a lie - I did it with rufbtr either side of Anthony.

Results now updated with Mark McC's ID.

I'm considering whether to put PRibeiro's result into G2 for this race rather than exclude him.

Picnic and I were discussing this over TeamSpeak in the closing stages and despite the drop in ambient temperatures it's hard to know why consumption went up so much in the second half of the race. Did everyone get this or just some of us? I don't think mine was as bad as some but then again I had the rev limit turned down a fair bit for reliability.

No complaints from me.These things happen at times. The only time it gets to me is if it's really aggressive or with intent. Just a genuine mistake.

I'm still angry about my performance. I was feeling relaxed late on in the lead and went into autopilot mode and made that stupid mistake.

Still needing to get the set up business solved. The drop in temperature over test sessions meant my tyres were not reaching correct temps and translated to the best part of a second a lap.

It seems there was lots of door banging throughout and many guilty parties. I find it hard to call what backmarkers are going to do as there is no consistency. Sometimes they move off racing line, sometimes they don't and although you approach with relative caution at times you can still get caught out.

I must say I don't like the massive speed difference between some of the cars.

I can never seem to get consistency with fuel usage. Again last night I found myself in same situation. Planned the race to make halfway and easily went past that. Could have managed 2 more laps.

Filled up same amount and was not using anywhere near as much revs in second half, yet only had one lap of fuel left. Really ought to have been 6-7laps worth. Luckily I stuck with the fuel amount
