Hmm, I was reading on the Simbin forums from Jacque that they had worked hard with Star force to remove the instability in the dedicated server due to Star Force. Of course being sceptical I figured I'd run my server as normal to see if it still hung my PC randomly and I have to tell you that it has not crashed once it has not hung my PC once, it would normally have done so by now but it's been running for nearly 18 hours and fine so far so I'm pleased with that, maybe that have fixed that. Would make me more willing to get rent a server without access to the PSU for hard resets. I'll keep the server running indefinately till I need to reboot or something goes wrong and keep you posted.

It makes you wonder what else they have or haven't fixed, cause that certainly wasn't in the release notes. Maybe we need to test some of the bugs we had, although I don't hold out much hope.

Funny you had problems, the only problem I've had for ages was the some times when the DX8 detection took place it never went passed the black splash screen. My server was running for 2 weeks solid before the upgrade this morning. Mind you no one connected to it cos it didn't appear in the lobby for some reason  Shocked

I'll leave mine up until it needs a reboot / restart

Yeah you never had a problem, but i guess for those of us that had problems it's good if we are now all on a level playing field.

BTW, i got rid of it going "black" by setting the game on the server to use the same resolution as the windows desktop, it's happier when it starts when set like that and doesn't flip out to full screen mode then back again.

Does that also stop the VNC session closing?

Presumably it does - the FragThe.Net server doesn't do it.

Dunno, i don't use VNC as I have my server directly connected to my monitor.
