Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 1525s

5 GT1 cars get bunched together when lapping a GT2 car around T2. At T3 Drumbstick brakes a bit late, and knocks Shark into the gravel trap. As a result of the first contact Drumbstick is knocked off the inside of the track by a following car. Drumbstick waited for Shark to re-join before attempting to recover, and apologised for the mistake.

  • drumbstick (Arron Maspero)penalty — Rear-ending Shark. — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 1970s

Shark is following Edam closely, when Edam's car warps (in the replay it disappears completely). Shark neatly hurdles over him, and continues. The aliens decide they don't want Edam after all, and he re-materialises in the middle of a field several seconds later.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 3614s

Paul is following Shark closely through one of the banked corners. Shark appears to lose a bit of speed, and Paul bumps into him. Shark's car rebounds off the inside kerb and takes Paul off the track.

Looks like Simon lifted to adjust his line, catching Paul out. Paul was probably marginally too close for safety - drivers often make adjustments in the middle of Anderstorp's banked corners.

  • Paul968caution — Minor contact.
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

I have to pick up my mother from Luton airport this evening. Her flight is due to land at 18:20, so depending on delays and return traffic on the M1, I may or may not get home in time to join the server before the end of qually 2. Ofc, it may well be that the reserves will have filled all the spots by then anyway.

The weather station appears not to be reporting. What happens if it doesn't come on line?

Not sure if the date on the RSS feed is just wrong or the data really is 6 months out of date. The forecast appears to be correct (rain) - if it's like this when the server is started it's probably a good idea for the starter to set the initial conditions to just a fraction under the lowest rain value, which means that rain is quite likely during the event.

So, does this mean that 70% rain is the norm (it will vary around this figure)?

It's technical. Wink

The "conditions" in the weather file is not rain percentage - rain at 1% starts at condition value 61.66, and goes up to condition 99.99 (or 100 - not exactly sure), which is 100% rain, ie. full on monsoon conditions.

Can't say I'm much the wiser I'm afraid Dave. Would you care to have a wild guess at typical race conditions (rain %)? NOt looking for the right answer, just an example.

There are no 'typical' race conditions - that's the whole point of seeding it from the WU RSS feed. "Mostly Cloudy" obviously makes rain more likely than "Clear". "Scattered Clouds" are in between. "Rain" would see Practice 1 wet but after that it's all random. The better the conditions in Practice 1 the less likely rain is.

Can you start it please Gizmo as I don't know what you mean by "set initial conditions to just a fraction under the lowest rain value" and I'm not sure how to do the endurance events anyway, trying to find the post on how to set the weather now, but it's already 15 minutes late.
